This car does 0 to 60 in 7 seconds (stock engine) and 6.8 with better tires. 8.4 seconds is just wrong. I guess he was referring to the non turbo version. And for being a 1.6 liter and 2k less expensive than most competitors, this is a fantastic alternative for someone looking for a hatchback car that saves in gas and it's a lot of fun to drive too.
this review was bad. They guy clearly hates the car and didn't said anything about the "bells..." which compared with a Scriocco actually count. Also nothing about the 4-door style. Nothing about the warranty (sorry but VW still can't figure out more than 3 years) and the list can go on.. I don't care where the car is made, is irrelevant !!! I can tell you quite a few rubbish Italian car makers and a few that you are still dreaming about. Anyway BAD review..!
Rule no 1 - always review the product, not your opinion of it :) - that is the worst mistake a tester/reviewer/editor can ever make. If you don't like dark chocolate and you love white chocolate, dismissing and trash-talking it, just because is not on your taste is a beginner mistake. (or is just me and my experience talking..)
It's "hun-day" - like "Sunday" with an "h". NOT friggin' "hee-yun-day"!! I don't care what country you're from or what kind of accent you have, you are flat-out SAYING IT WRONG!!!!
It's not like it has a 10 FT spoiler on the rear and has flames on the side that screams rice and "power". A lot of cars, like the Veloster, look good but it doesn't mean that it's crazy fast. Considering todays standards, I'd say that the Veloster's pretty quick with a 0-60 just under 7 seconds.
£22k for a 184bhp 1.6 turbo.... Joking right? Hyundai sticking to the washing machines as engines then producing way less compared to the market leaders like Clio RS and Corsa VXR of small turbo hatches or soon to be small turbos in the case of the Clio. Looks good though but needs more oomph.
well the answer to your question is YES... not all people are brand specific, I rather have a car that doesn't ring a bell which will satisfy me in one way or two over a car with a good name but doesn't evoke any senses and unreliable...
Did he just compaired this thing with toyota's 86!? That's just wrong... ohh and no, i would buy the VW but the golf though... ohh wait... that's exactly what i've done :D
Why does everyone think the 'quality' of a VW is automatically so good? It really annoys me because I have actually worked for both Hyundai and VW and can tell you now, go out and pull on some switches in a VW, wiggle things, slam some stuff around, its not better quality at all, its an old fashioned perception. The reason VWs only have a 3 year warranty is because they are actually a bit crap! TDi PDs it was injectors, FSi loses compression, timing gear is poor on all, DSG unreliable etc etc
Not a bad effort from the Koreans; agree with comments below that it simply not in the category of the Golf GTI, Focus ST, Mazda MPS / Speed3 or Renault RS. I bought the ST and didn't even bother looking at the Hyundai.
People make fun of the styling but the styling is why most people buy it, including me. I assure you a VW of any kind will not turn one head. This car gets you recognized whether you love it or hate it. Its brought excitement to the mix. Most cars aren't exciting.
Not every presenter needs to be hyper. This guy clear, concise, and not the slightest bit boring not unless you are yet another teenager crawling through RU-vid for your next ADHD fix.
I have been reviewing and testing all different kind of products for the past 4 years for more than 3 different companies. I did everything from compares to presentations and much much more. So, the answer is YES, I could do a better review. But this car can't be found in my city (damn them) and also I don't have a crew for filming, editing and get a paycheck for doing that. :)
i totally agree with you on that :) i hope my comment didn't offend you as well that was a misunderstanding cause when i said can u review it instead i wasn't being sarcastic that was a real question
I think I rather have VW scirocco lol not only perform better imo, but I think it look better too. ( I like the look of veloster turbo a lot too, but I think scirocco still wins on the look part slightly ) props to hyundai for producing this kind of vehicle though, because this is actually a fun and handsome vehicle according to my friend who owns it.
ovidel46's ability to make a car review is irrelevant... unless he is a car reviewer too cant people just criticize others without being asked "can you do better?"
I don't see what was so bad about this review to be honest, he seemed quite complimentary about it, but he was making a valid point... A lot of people will go for VW's, because it's a VW. I personally find VW's as dull as dishwater but they certainly have that upmarket feeling interior.
James Buckley actually in the states it is spelled aluminum, not aluminium. In that instance it makes sense to pronounce them different. Anything else you need help with?
