Heavily ballasted tires are a bear.. always good to have another person around, at least within shouting distance, in case you drop it on yourself. I've had some close calls.
Back in '87, I worked on a small dairy farm and they had a '42 Allis Chalmers and a Massey 245. I was a teenager and didn't have the appreciation of tractors I have now, and was not aware of what a gem that 245 was. Watching these videos sure makes me smile, and brings back very fond memories. Thanks for sharing Ben, have a great week!
Good job! Take care of that massey ferguson. They don't make them like that anymore. That wheel is to much buddy for one person. I enjoyed the video. Hope you and your family have a blessed day. It was 30 degrees here in northeast Georgia this morning
That tie about got best of you for sure but you got and that was main thing, Ben be careful and thanks for sharing you must be planning on using it a lot this year now we know why they handle so good on hillsides them ole Massey sure was great farm tractors!
Yessir those cast wheels are heavy!!! I don’t like the metal filter wrenches either, I have actually ruined new filters with them tightening them!! Ben I believe the idea of the jug is better than hurting yourself!!
Hi Ben, very heavy tire and that job was really too much for one person to do. Being SAFE is more important than getting a job done. Glad everything went well, just be careful and stay SAFE. Have a blessed day Ben.🚜👏👍❤️🙏
Good Evening Sir, I never put oil the filter before too 👌😇 Yes in deed put the oil plug in very important but you oil clean flush your engine 😇👌👍 Ho boy, that final drive oil was very dirty oil 🥴 One small Tyre Step Maintenance at the time Sir 👌😇 Keep up your OUTSTANDING Videos Sir and keep warm Sir Cheers 😇😇👌👌👍👍🍻🍻
Hey Ben glad you got it taken care of safely, there was a guy locally that got killed changing a tractor tire like that, I guess he wasn’t expecting the weight and it got away from him and landed on him.
I have to change the hydraulic filter on my 230 as well it has probably never been done. I am going to wait and see what you get into before I do mine.
Our 245 doesn’t have the cast centers so they aren’t that hard to handle. Yours are a different story. I like your setup better. I need to do complete service on ours, but I gets put on the back burner since I got the Kubota. Great video as usual!
We change the oil on all of our equipment every year in March. Ol Blue’s (my Farmtrac) oil is really hard to change. It’s between to cases (I think the differential and driveline) my dad has some fancy wrench he made that goes in there to get it out. It’s also a pain in the butt to get the bolt back on there because you can’t get your hand in there. Great video Mr. Ben!
Hey bud, me and dad ran Deere oil in our Deere’s every since the 70’s. I talked him into rotella 3 years ago and the 2640 used some that year. So I started using Mobil delvc 15-40 and really really like it.
@@khtractors Wouo Would it be ok if I e-mailed you a pic of the front grill/hood guard I built for my 5055E? Its functional and don't look bad. Thanks, Doug
Well, I am sure it wouldn't be the first time you have to explain to the wife how a random piece of farm equipment kicked your butt. I'm just glad you got it off and on without injury. Some life lessons can be hard to learn and sometimes they hurt, but now you know lol.
Been down that road. I like you just said screw it and took the mess approach and drained it out onto the rim and just cleaned it up and kept truckin. The transmission filter will be the next fun part as it never really all drains out and then you take a small bath dropping the cover.
Always making things look easy Ben. Will your plyers work better around the upper end of the filter? Filters are les likely to collapse at that round ring. An engine hoist might help you with those bulky tires and wheels.
How's she goin'? Man o man Ben moving a tractor tire is hard work let alone moving one that is loaded and has wheel weights!! You sure had yourself a workout. The little wheels on GC2300 only had washer fluid in them and they are way too heavy for me to move around, so I can imagine your milk got strained moving this one!! Nice job though and take care!!
Will Ben I fill ya. Pain I thought I was still 22 ..48 and thought ya. I wided my 60 60 by my self . With the. Cast centers..ya just take. A few minutes with to 20 ton bollte jacks. . Not to big anymore. Like to killed me
I have a mf135 I’m think of changing the alternator over to a 1wire with built in voltage regulator and doing away with the old altinator with external regulator just want your thoughts would you change or go back the way it was. Thanks love the videos have a good day god bless
So I'm actively looking for a tractor right now. Your videos (especially the one where you're tilling the garden) have made me love the sound of the 245. I have been looking at Ford diesel's as well (the older models of course) but what does everybody here think about the comparison between the Massey 245 and the Ford diesels?
I’ve had both, I had a 3000 Ford for a few years. You will not go wrong with either brand. When it comes to older tractors I wouldn’t buy anything other then a Ford or Massey.
It has a altinator but the voltage regulator is external I was just wondering about changing it out to one that has built in voltage regulator didn’t know what your thoughts were on keeping what I have or changing it over thanks
