I agree with Cody. I'm a male substitute teacher assistant. I frequently encounter boys in elementary and middle school who take a special bonding with me. I sometimes wonder what kind of home life these kids have
@@ST-rj8iu ...huh? If you're trying to guess which subject I teach, I teach English. High school English, specifically, but I student teach at a middle school.
@virginiawyatt4237 Saaaame! But, to be fair, they were all amazing. Actually, no, I did have one female. And she might’ve surpassed them all lol! She had stories from being in a war, she was a Southern grandma for Pete's sake. I'll never forget her.
Fun fact the reason there is a disproportionate number of male social studies teachers in secondary education in the US is because until about 20 years ago collages actively discouraged women from getting degrees in history with an education certificate. (The most common rout to teaching social studies at the secondary level).
@@guidedexplosiveprojectileg9943 never had one. But I did have one who was full of lgbtq community family members. She got made fun of because of it. Honestly I think kids should stop trying to be cool by making fun of things that can really hurt someone’s mental health
@@Andrzej451SERIOUSLY! Everyone here talks about how they’d pass their classes if they had him as a teacher (maybe they’re just saying he’s a good teacher) but having a crush on a teacher sucks! It’s so hard to focus, and if it’s bad enough it’s just an unrequited love thing, and that’s NEVER fun
correction we need more good male teachers like him because every male teacher I had builds grudges against students, is lazy, and NEVER knows how to teach so when the test comes, everyone fails and they don't give curves often
We did have more male teachers in the 70/80s.. lots of them were alcoholics, paedophiles and general nonces. That's generally just what happened for a few decades.
my English teacher was a guy last year, so was my math and social studies, reading and half my electives. I now have my science and social studies teachers who are male lol
I was actually one of the very few males that was in the Early Childhood Education program at the technical school that I attended. It was a program that consisted mostly of females, but I had a genuine interest in it, which is why I decided to join, out of the other options that I had. Teaching those kids will forever stay in my memory. The following year, Covid hit. I got the opportunity to participate in a field experience, where I observed high school-level English classes. I got to teach them a couple times, as well. From the experience that I gained, I don't think there's anything wrong with male teachers. I had plenty of them. They can be some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. :)
I wish there were more male teachers, a lot of the best teacher's I've had were male teachers (7th grade history, 7th grade science, and 9th grade German to name a few) and there is just a chill-ness that a lot of guy teachers have than most women teachers don't. That isn't to say I didn't have plenty of women teachers that I loved, they are just different, and it shouldn't be so uncommon for guys to be teachers
I had a good range of male teachers. My freshman year of high school, my Algebra 101 class was taught by the male football coach. He was one of the old-school "here's six ways to do it, I don't care which one you use as long as it makes sense and you can repeat the result." He had to drop the class halfway through the first semester, and we got passed over to a female teacher who'd been teaching only calculus for the previous 12 years. She wasn't used to having to explain basic Algebra, and would approach the lessons like they were refreshers for her calculus students. I wound up so stressed out that I flubked everything but PE that semester and got put in an independent study program instead so I could work at my own pace. Wound up going to summer school in order to scrape a C- in Algebra, and did all my remaining math credits as electives like bookkeeping and recordkeeping. Found out years later that half my problem was undiagnosed dyscalculia, and if I'd had better support I might not have had half the problems.
I feel for the female Calculus teacher. As a male high school teacher who is currently teaching three sections of AP Calculus, I get nervous about trying to teach when asked to cover for A1 for this exact reason. It is hard to confidently help students when you do all the Algebra by hand but they need to know the "do it in the non-AP-approved calculator" tricks.
At our school we had a few fellas flush down a large rock, ended up shattering the damned toilet(the principle at our 300 student middle school had a few words that lunch).
My favorite male (HS) teacher taught psychology. He was relatively young, married, and had a 2 yr old, so it was like having the cool dad teaching the class. Once every week or two, he’d let us just chill, so my friends and I used to play Rummy 500. Best class ever! 😁
I’m a social worker but we had what we call an All Staff Meeting today and as they were talking about the new employees our director said “Look at us hiring some men!” Some professions are just female dominated.
WAIT THE SNEAKER THING IS SO TRUE THOUGH we had a male history teacher (AP World History) and it didn’t take long to notice this man wore a different part of sneakers everyday. He had a pair for everyday of the year. It was a real talking point in his class
Yep...a male teacher and I never have discipline issues... I respected the kids and they returned it. I walk into a rowdy junior high assembly with a look they all go silent. The women, bitter and jealous but not my problem. The problem is sexual harassment: sticky notes with the weiner emojis and more, rubbing your leg under the table at a workshop, kisses on the cheek...all inappropriate. They get away with it. There is a lot more but I ignore it. What if a guy did that? yeah we all know how that goes....
1:20:55 I am excited for the new Tiana ride! I’m gonna miss Splash mountain tho. I had been to Disney-world once back in 2016 and I rode splash mountain for the first time, went to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingfom it was so much fun. Went back to Disney in October with my family and I saw the construction on Splash Mountain and the beginnings of the Tiana ride and I just felt so sad about it tho. 😭
@@user-ts2og7lc1z Ik how it feels, one of my Pokémon comments got on a TABS video and one of my stardew valley comments got on someone talking about their Christmas tree 💀
@@maxygames2066History is usually called social studies in the American public schools. I have worked (and currently work) as a substitute teacher across half of Missouri, from the lake of the Ozarks to metropolitan Saint Louis county, on military bases and redneck towns. . I assume it's the same in other states.
From my husband, who is a male teacher, "Of course I've been asked inappropriate questions in interviews as to why I want to be around children as a middle aged man." 🤨 Also, "the ratio" never helped him get hired. It took YEARS as a substitute teacher then assistant teacher and then a personal reference from a teacher friend of our family who could vouch for his healthy home life for him to FINALLY get hired. Really, people?! I get there are bad people out there, but someone who has endured the extra education and an unpaid internship to obtain a teaching license and will be constantly monitored by superiors and fellow teachers, and we live in the age of secret recording capabilities where you can rig up your kid if you're concerned and the teenagers have their phones always at the ready, do you really think there's reason to hold a guy's gender against him in the hiring process?!
My male teacher last school year let his last 3 periods (I was in 2 of them) watch the World Cup in class, no one understood what was happening except our teacher but we still watched it and enjoyed every second of it
In the early 90s at Boston's English High, I, a new teacher, aimed to spark interest in Shakespeare. To connect with diverse students, I integrated hip-hop into lessons, likening rap battles to Shakespearean dialogues. This creative approach engaged students, fostering lively discussions and a deeper appreciation for literature. Good times
I'm a male nurse. The knowing more about pregnancy than any man because of female coworkers is relatable. Granted I also had to study OBGYN in college, but still relatable.
My school for middle-highschool students had a male teacher in every subject. We had more than 4 total but there was one social studies, science, math, and English teacher. And as a bonus we had one male language teacher and a male art teacher and a male Band/Orchestra teacher
