Here we lay out the project and explain how to order your own parts and why doing everything at once was the best choice for this build. Follow my Instagram @high.spool.teacher. Please like comment share and subscribe! Thank you 🙏🏻
Very informative video. Thank you for explaining and answering all the questions I had in mind. Im hoping to get this done in the near future. Thanks again.
looking to do this swap also! thanks for the video! info is lacking on this. i have an opportunity to buy a rear subframe with the goodies atm. i guess the bucket seat will have to wait.
Great info!!!! do you mind me asking how much you paid for the M3 subframe, diff and driveshaft.. I believe you said you were in Ontario I am from Toronto🙏🏾
Good video. I have installed the same m3 diff, stub shafts and am down to only having to get the driveshaft modified. I talked to a reputable driveline shop in my area and they have significant strength concerns about removing the stock flange and welding it onto the m3 dct piece. Do you have any pics/videos of your modified driveshaft? Thanks.
Hey John, sorry but unfortunately I was too impatient when it got to that part of the process and I just threw it in the car without taking pictures. The weld is fusion welded, so it has to be taken apart with a smaller shaft inserted inside of the driveshaft to give the new flange something to weld to. In other words, you have to insert a smaller diameter pipe in the end of the cut shaft to strengthen the flange.
How did you make out? I'm in Ottawa. I have an E90 335i, I am currently doing a full DCT swap on it. It's a full caged race car I run at Mosport and CMP. Hit me up if you're in the area. M
Good to know! So far it’s been a great swap except I’m getting lots of drivetrain vibrations. The donor car was written off from a front end collision so I think the diff is fine. I believe my driveshaft isn’t balanced correctly
