When I decided to take a DNA test, I never expected this 😭. Watch as I uncover the truth about my ancestry and discover that I'm not who I thought I was. You won't believe the twist at the end.
If you like self-discovery with a blend of entertainment then consider joining the tribe :)

For a Black American, this is how I would answer that: Race: Black Ethnicity: Black American Nationality: American (USA) Music: Blues, Hip Hop, Soul, R&B, Funk, Jazz, Ragtime, Gospel, Rock and Roll, Etc.. Foods: Fried Chicken, Sweet Potato Pie, Collard Greens, Black Eyed Peas, Red Rice (Beans - optional), Pecan Pie, Cole Slaw, Creole/Jambalaya, Yellow Rice (Beans - optional), Cabbage, Sweet Tea, Macaroni & Cheese, Southern Corn Bread, Cajun Fried Fish, Etc.. I only put those foods which are Kosher (Leviticus 11). Linguistics: Proper English, AAVE, Ebonics, Etc.. Sports: Basketball, Gymnastics, Double Dutch, American Football, Roller Skating, Etc.. Black Americans have a beautiful culture of their own. If you got genetic communities, please include them in your research.

Black Americans are the most successful and influential Black people on earth with a rich culture that is imitated worldwide. They also were instrumental in building the USA. Considering the centuries of obstacles they had to face, it's astounding what they've manage to accomplish at only 13% of the population. You weren't stripped of your culture, and most Americans identify with multiple cultures Irish American, Columbian American etc. Other people from other countries can reach down and feel the connection. Culture is the glue that binds and that's why this country is in the state that it's in.
@mrscatfacepotatospeaker1879
@mrscatfacepotatospeaker1879 5 месяцев назад
This country is in the state it is in today for many reasons, but one reason is because the generation of today don't appreciate what was given to them from the generation of yesterday. The generation of yesterday were the ones who fought, suffered, and worked for their children and grandchildren to have a better life. Today, people do not appreciate what was given to them. They act like they are entitled to have things given to them instead of working for them, as if they are a victims. My ancestors are Native American and Irish and Russian and other cultures, and they all had their hard trying times, but I wasn't there with them and I live in today in the American life and I embrace the culture which is a mixture of all kinds of cultures.

The saddest part of his history that I see is not that a white man potentially abused his G-g-g-g-Great Grandmother, but she is the result of abuse from before that in the family tree. Benin & Togo was at one point (Benin Specifically) one of the Tribes that fought, killed, enslaved, tortured, and sold tribes around them to both the Atlantic Slave Traders and Arab Slave traders. The Dahomey Tribe was also known for the Amazon Women that fought against the Europeans to keep slavery going in Africa. It is a good chance that The Benin DNA is also from abuse / rape at the hands of African Enslavers that resulted in the birth of this woman who eventually was sold in the slave trades.
@DoubleBeezy
@DoubleBeezy 6 месяцев назад
That’s y I only look at history as HISTORY 😂. Good and bad happened and how tf do we know what’s from good or bad, Africans and Europeans not perfect. I know the saying is automatically yelling all the European rape and Africans innocent somehow, but I guarantee just like me, many ppl nowadays will find good and bad, and for me having family from Louisiana some was considered mulatto(and history from Texas, also a few white folks), with their own mix identity, so history is just too much stress to worry about when LIFE TOO SHORT ALREADY. Race a social construct and I’m blk(man made 💩)/American anyways 😅🤷
@chrish7336
@chrish7336 6 месяцев назад
@@DoubleBeezy Unfortunately though there are to many on all sides that don't look at as much of the History as they can and want to jump to conclusions. or they want to keep living in History and never move forward. Romans enslaved Greeks England invaded Ireland put many into indentured servitude so what. I see how you’re trying to flip it on the African. What you’re not realizing is your looking at it as if those tribes looked at each other as the same. You see it as African fighting each other and that is the most whites washed way to look at it. People who live next to each other fight each other just like in Europe. The people in America didnt just let them go when they was brought from Africa so let’s no take the blame from them and what happened in America. Y’all are crazy.
@chrish7336
@chrish7336 4 месяца назад
@@NotACoincidence808 No they weren't just let go, because people in the America's (it wasn't America at the time) had to buy them in turn making them Indentured Servants(also considered a slave) Who were to be released after a certain amount of time. Which is nothing like the slavery in any other part of the world especially at that time. No matter how you want to argue it, Africans Enslaved Africans for the intention of bettering themselves through selling, abusing, raping and killing those they captured. The only way an African slave was released in Africa was through Sale or Death. Again, nothing like the indentured Servitude of the Americas. Africans and Arabs searched out Slaves for capture, not indentured servitude. The whites as you put it, gave offer for those that were available.

A few YTers had asked the Siddis if they like to move to Africa and most showed no interest as they said after 500 years they are Indian now. They don't have any anger or bitterness about their past as very little is know about it. They are very mild mannered shy people. They have some also in Gujarat but they don't seem to live as well as the ones in Karnataka. In Karnataka they are Catholic and some Hindus and the Catholic Church has dedicated to looking after them. A lot of priests from Goa have helped built their new villages which are built with the Western grid plan with blocks which is seldom seen in India. Their villages are so peaceful with little flower gardens in the front. Very pretty. They keep their doors and windows open even when they are not at home. That is why they refuse to move anywhere else.

Look into the migration pattern throughout Africa after the Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, and Romans destroyed the holy land. Look into ancient DNA on other websites and you will see your heritage that goes beyond the Western coast of Africa.

The 1% Indigenous American (Indian) likely came from an ancestor in your family tree about 300-to-500yrs back (so your multi-racial slave great*-grandmother may have had a parent or grand-parent that was Black/Indian or White/Indian mix. If you're family is from Florida, then it was very likely a Black/Indian mix (Seminole Indian Tribe). The higher percentages of Welsh, Norwegian, etc (usually, but not always "pure" White) suggests that these ancestors probably came into your family tree as late as 300yrs ago. I've been told that any ethicity guesstimate percentage under 5% is usually consider as being from "trace results" (& might be accurate - or not). You might want to keep an eye out for Ancestry's future updates, as their guesstimates might change (often percentages change & ethnicities are added). Also, you might get some different results on your "trace DNA" at another DNA testing company, like MyHeritage [which has the largest European database - & not much info on African ancestry... Ancestry has the largest U.S. database plus is currently the world's largest database & has more info on African ancestory than MyHeritage has... & there's also a Black-centric DNA testing company that specializes in finding more details regarding one's ancestor's specific tribe(s) in Africa]. Each company has its own proprietory database plus uses its own way of calculating ethnicities - & results will likely be ammended as each gains more information in their respective databases & adjust their respective calculations accordingly. I've used both Ancestry & MyHeritage & they were in agreement in all but: some of my "trace DNA results;" &, their estimated percentages (though usually within 10% of one other on the commonly-guessed ethnicities)... MyHeritage originally had 2.4%, then later, 4.8% of my "trace DNA" as Greek & Southern Italian - these being northern Mediterranean areas for which Ancestry showed no results whatsoever. Ancestry had, & still has, 1% of my "trace DNA" coming from North Africa - a southern Mediterranean area which MyHeritage had shown no results for whatsoever. Note: Ethnicity Guesstimation isn't the main thing with DNA testing; but rather, DNA Matching between folk is the main thing.
