Also, anatomy is different for everyone. As a yoga instructor, I always remind my students that stretching goals are great but your anatomy is going to determine what your body can do. Not everyone will be able to have their knees on the ground in that elevated cobbler pose as you showed and that’s perfectly fine. I have one student who is so strong and flexible and has been trying for 15 years with sandbags on her knees to get that deep of a stretch. It’s not going to happen

True. I'm not getting anywhere with my pigeon pose. Doesn't matter, how often or long I try. I can only do it with my front leg almost completely folded under. My hip won't tolerate my foot coming further forwards 🤷🏻‍♀️

David, I know there's probably a ton of videos to watch for these stretches, and I'm open to them, but I find your personality trustworthy. It doesn't hurt your credibility when you bring your wife into the videos either. I'm starting to do these stretches with your advice, and it feels great. At 61, I've been driving a truck for 31 years, and all this sitting has taken a toll on my back. Thanks again. I have a raised toilet seat because getting on and off the toilet caused an overuse injury due to really bad chronic issues and the injury has never healed properly. When the toilet seat is higher it means it's easier to get on and off however my feet don't hit the floor as comfortably so I use yoga blocks, they're the perfect height for what I need :D I love this video, I feel like it packs in a good amount of information to a short time.

I've been using my blocks to properly do lower body work without upper body collapsing and changing where the stretch is. Though seeing your 4 block high pile tracking is making me want to get more blocks since I only have the 2 and I would really find them useful in tracking progress!

I love your channel with lots of great advice to gain flexibility, actually 'openess' in yoga. As a thirty year yoga practitioner I can say that being over flexible is not good for yoga if the muscles, all muscles that can be -depending on the pose- are not working hard, five minute poses, e.g. In a forward bend, e.g. the quads are working so hamstrings can release. Yoga is not simply 'stretching,' but form, applied strength, balance, of course. In standing poses, warrior 2, for example, the outstretched arms, quads, calfs, and core are all working. A strong core, in particular, is fundamental to nearly all poses, like barre.

I have a strange question. I have autism and ive been battling a life long struggle with shoes and socks. I liked toe socks, but because i developed bunions in childhood, my toes were curved and the fabric was too long for my toes. I cant stand callouses on my body, so i cant go barefoot without constant misery, but i would prefer building strength in my legs and arches and going barefoot... My biggest fear is cutting the webbing between my toes tbh. And the socks you're wearing look amazing for what i need. I was wondering if you could make a video explaining what they are and where i can buy them, or if you already have, if you could let me know where to find it or link it under my comment. Your content gives me the confidence to work on my flexibility. I used to pride myself in how flexible i am and it makes me sad how little mobility i retained in adulthood. I have hypermoble joints and ligaments, but they are tight from overuse of muslces and underuse of others. I have started the journey of correcting the nelgect of my body, but finding a pair of shoes and socks that work for me are so important due to my physical and mental health difficulties. Unfortunately, ive been too icked out by the idea of putting my bare foot in toe shoes to try them... but if i knew there were socks and if i could buy a pair (or 20! Lol) that can for sure fit the length of my toes, that would be a total game changer. Hopefully you can help me! If not, thanks for all your videos!❤

As someone previously trained in ballet and contemporary dance, people too often focus on using tools while it is just really about applying basic principles. I've done pilates and yoga as well and usually a mat and a towel, with a good instructor, should be all you need. Now for some specific muscle groups I would prefer the theraband over any other tool since it creates safe resistance training that you can even do on the couch while watching a tv show. If streching hamstrings is too difficult, consider to sit down and fold forward or do 1 leg at a time. It's more about technique and knowledge than stuff imho.

Hey Mr.David, I'd appreciate your advice on something. Last year I tore my ankle out of it's socket 3 or 4 times doing various things and rolled the same ankle on many occasions. I did not go to any doctors, and I wanted to know if you think there is any hope for full ankle mobility and stability, as far as I can tell, the mobility is slightly lessoned, the strength seems to still be there (I can still do calf raises and such) but the stability is what scares me, it seems to be susceptible to rolling and potentially coming out of socket again. Any input you have is valuable and much appreciated. if anyone on the internet (with expertise on this subject) has anything to say please do, I don't want my ankle to be permanently injured.
