@44:00 how to take Double Exposures without the app. (Continue to Hold down shutter button after first shot, turn camera off, turn camera back on for 2nd shot)

Well done on the tutorial videos. I really love them. Very natural and spontaneous!

Thanks for posting the masterclass! Glad to hear the camera is firmware updatable. This was a question I had after seeing some online reviews (as whether the camera was updatable was not addressed by other reviewers).
@bthemedia

augsburg supposedly... the USB data cable is for camera firmware / software updates - but I have never been able to find an update from Impossible Project / Polaroid Originals. There is only firmware downloads for older “Polaroid” branded cameras. Update from Polaroid Originals as of November 2019: "sadly we do not have any updates for the I-1 camera at this time."

If you cover the electric eye, it doesn't focus, yeah? The electric eye (or maybe photosensor in this case) is also the infrared receptor?

Guys thanks for the class. I got a video about the I-1 on my channel that gives photo samples. I want to do another video with some things I've learned on my own and from this video. This video did help a lot tho

Hey, I think i have a problem with my impossible I-1. I just bought it yesterday, 7 April. And then I took picture today and some just didn’t develop. Is there any email where I can tell what happened? Thanks

Can you do a decent, good quality tutorial video on how to use strobes when shooting with i1 ?
@bthemedia
@bthemedia 4 года назад
Exactly! Why show all those great studio lights in the background yet have no way to trigger them in a NEW Camera - be it 2016-2019!?🤦‍♂️ @36:35 they mention “looking into it” when all it takes is a simple standard 3.5mm audio jack like on most strobes! Even the Mint Flash Bar 2 has had this (albeit mistakenly as a 2.5mm port). Now that manual exposure settings are available (in an “app” rather than on camera - I would be happy with a fixed f8!) - why not add external flash? 🤷‍♂️ 😭
@bthemedia

With the flash surrounding the lens... it’s complicated even to get the on-camera flash disabled and setup photo diodes to sync the flash

Question, is the lens made out of glass or plastic? I have a few Polaroid cameras but they all have plastic lenses, I already bought one 1-1 for me and just ordered another one for my daughter as a Christmas present.

If the battery is no longer in the cartridge, why not fitting two more photos in it?
@spaceman103
@spaceman103 6 лет назад
Jessie López And why not reducing the prices of the other cartridges, now it seems the business is doing well? I think the current price point is holding back lots of new users and makes ‘old’ costumers quit using their Polaroids cameras, after the ‘novelty factor’ has gone.

Because it would be unfair for other formats, and people would complain even more

Answered @39:18 but not really, says the pods might break if they were small. So it’s not a space issue - it’s a pod issue.

Gnn, "master" class ? 1:30 "we need to charge this camera [...] it'll go through 15/20 packs of film on a full charge but the standby time is not great. The reason for that is the battery needs to be at a really high voltage to provide power to the flash because this is a high power led flash. There's no capacitor. So it's directly connected to the battery. Herr, all it means is you need to kind of charge you camera before you want to use it with the flash" This doesn't make any sense. Why would the >standby< time, in any case, be related to the flash? A(ny) good design would prevent the flash circuitry from drawing current from the battery between pictures. Also, I see you use LEDs as a flash - 12 of them, with 3-4Volts of forward drop on each, 36-48V needed. And… I’m guessing that you would have a Lithium Polymer or Lithium Ion battery inside, about 3.7V then? So it’s definitely not "directly connected to the battery". You say you don’t use any capacitor, thus no chopper/transformer either -> then the only way to produce high enough voltage would be a boost converter. (and don't tell me you used the 12 leds in parallel to avoid using a boost and plugged it directly on the battery, it would make me die inside - using 12 times the amount of current would be... inefficient...) There’s no reason for the boost converter feeding the flash to eat up battery ressources when the flash is not triggered (e.g. by means of a transistor in series with the LEDs)… If the battery runs flat, it should be from USING the flash… not leaving the device on standby for any duration (3 days?? wtf ?) - there’s been some kind of mishap there son… ... i'm going to leave it there with "Herr, all it means is you need to kind of charge you camera before you want to use it with the flash" and nod (and hope you do better with I-2). Please read the internet. There are LOTS of info on how to make a good led flash. And put a capacitor in the mix… you’re stressing the battery for nothing. You can begin there : www.electroschematics.com/12394/camera-white-led-flash-illumination/ Or you can contact me and pay me for making the next version of that piece of circuitry.

☝️Polaroid Originals needs to hire and pay this guy to make their cameras better - heck, even add a 3.5mm “audio” port for external flash sync! Also @50:50 mentions 15-20 packs on one charge only on same day (and probably without flash).

Is it possible to change between different types of films (B&W, color, round frame, etc) before the actual film of 8 photos is over?
@bthemedia
@bthemedia 4 года назад
cutmeloose1 probably need to use a dark bag (light right for changing film) and swap out film packs that way... then reinsert the dark cover slide to protected the film on top. Might also suggest leaving the partially used film pack in a light tight box (eg 3-4 sided box used for 4x5 film).

Why wasn't the info about the lens' "sweet spots" included in the instruction manual?

Nuckin' Futs where is this mentioned?

Nuckin' Futs @55:00 he mentions the focus ranges for each of the 5 lenses - perhaps those are the “sweet spots”.

Hey guys. I’ve been a quadraplegic the last three years and trying to get to back to photography again. I love Polaroid cameras but I can’t press the button due to paralysis my fingers. This camera seems like it will solve my problem. Can you focus on the app instead of having to press the button?
@tannisroot
@tannisroot 6 лет назад
There is a remote shutter connector on the side of SX-70 models. Is it maybe possible for you to buy a shutter button from ebay and ask someone to somehow modify it? It is basically just two wires with a button on the end that closes the contact, I am sure it would be very easy to create some improvised "button" and solder it instead of physical button for you to use? I can help with the design of it.

@36:35 “any studio flash sync port?” - still missing in 2019/2020 cameras 😢 All those sad unused studio flashes in the background of this video (and around the world), when all it takes is a simple 3.5mm (audio) cable port connected to the camera flash. (Note: please do NOT use non-standard 2.5mm port as in the Mint Flash Bar 2... adapters cause multiple points of failure). Come On Impossible Project / Polaroid Originals... that one simple standard feature has been needed for SO LONG! 🤷‍♂️
@bthemedia

@53:52 “noted” request for PC socket for external flash (however 3.5mm is more standard today in 201x than PC-sync ports for flash)

I have watched this several times, but I can't get good pictures with my I-1. They're always out of focus, the flash washes people's faces out, and the subject is usually much smaller in the picture than it looked in the viewfinder, and also off-center.
