I lived in Phoenix back in the 70s when all they had was the I-17 Black Canyon Freeway, the I-10 Maricopa Freeway, and the AZ360 (now US 60) Superstition Freeway. The closest thing to a stack was the 17/10 interchange (then signed as Buckeye Rd and since rebuilt) near the airport. Much better now!
I've been waiting for you to come back and do a video of this. It looks very nice compared to what it used to be. I left Phoenix in 2007 and this stretch was very conjested and dangerous heading to Flagstaff on the weekend. Thanks!
I couldn't agree more. I left in 2007 and don't miss one damn thing about it. I do miss going to the high country though. Especially Jerome, Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon.
Dude, I'm just going to be blunt with you and say that this is fucking awesome. The music is kickass and the scenery is sick. I-10 through Phoenix is easily one of my favorite stretches of urban interstate in the US. Adding this to favorites for sure!
+Whit Siever Why would you say that? Does I-4 not connect with I-275 and Route 60? But at least their freeways are clean and well-maintained, unlike San Antonio's, Houston's, and LA's.
San Diego I agree, I lived & worked in the San Diego area before I wound up in Ugly,Backward,1870's,Barbarian,Sh@thole,Loser City Tucson due to military base closures in California & other Western, Northern States & Florida during the 1990's.
@@JMMT7022801 Houston freeways do need a power wash. It's good that finally some freeways are upgrading like SH-288, I-610, US-59 which is a part of the I-610 South interchange, US-290, Beltway 8, and some about-to-be-new sections of Grand Parkway. Some freeways of Houston are clean and well-maintained tho.
yeah when i went to phoenix last month we had a gps that beeped everytime those traffic boxes were coming up they were not kidding when they were on nice job on the video
Excellent video! that is a great looking modern freeway. Based on the California videos I've seen from you and Brent the construction in the Phoenix area looks very similar. 5*
Phoenix is a very nice city, I myself am a huge fan of the desert but moving to Phoenix would be a big mistake, especially since Phoenix is running out of drinking water at a scary rate. In 10-15 years the disaster will hit and by then I expect everything to get pretty damn expensive.
@ScrewdUPClickV2 The mountain in the curve is called Bell Butte, and it has a water tank on its west side. Coming from the east, the butte resembles a cowbell.
I have seen all of your vids, and somehow I have over looked this one. Great vid; 10 is one of my favorite freeways and you did a great job! I do want to point out, for the sake of accuracy, at 5:06, 4th Ave should be 7th Ave.
Awesome video, man. I'm wondering what the Broadway Curve will look like in the future, when it's widened to something ridiculous in the league of 24 to 26 lanes in the future...
@ScrewdUPClickV2 HOV lanes on I-10 in Phoenix go all the way from the 202/Pecos interchange in Chandler to the 101 in the west valley. It's legal to cross the white line (single or double) any time you want.
A great movie! I watched 10 times, lived in Phoenix three years, but the recession, I returned to NY, I think that next year I'm moving back to Phoenix, I love Arizona
The reason for the low profile skyline is because one of the major airports (Sky Harbor) is right next to downtown. If they built any higher it would interfere with the flight paths.
No, the great state of Texas & Oregon has far & much better freeway than Arizona. I-10 from the Loop 202 (Exit 160) to Exit 185 is in bad shape & the state of Arizona has no intention to widen that stretch of I-10 at all. I-10 East of the Kino Parkway in Ugly,Backward,1870's,Barbarian,Sh@thole,Loser City Tucson to about 5 miles East of Exit 306 is at the saturation point and is in bad shape, the stretch of I-10 needs to be widened & that section as well will never be widened at all. I drive home to the Civilized San Diego area on I-8 for visits and on I-8 there is a stretch from Dateland exit 67 to the Mohawk Valley exit 55 that needs to be replaced & in in bad shape, the state has no intention to do that at all. I drove in 12 states, Oregon & Texas have the best freeways. Outside of Ugly,Fake,Phoney,Plastic,Smog City Phoenix Arizona's freeways & highways are the very worst in the entire nation.
Nissan Altima I have been to Texas. I helped my youngest son move from Ugly,Backward,1870’s,Barbarian,Anti Progress,Sh@thole,Loser City Tucson to Dallas on 8/27/2010. I drove on I-10,I-20,I-35, I-35W, I -30 & I-820 in the great state of Texas in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. I also traveled on Amtrak’s Sunset Limited trains 1 & 2 and Amtrak’s Texas Eagle trains 21 & 22 in Texas.
Albert Rivera-Castillo Jajaaj. You may know who I’m. I work with the Arizona Department of Transportation. That kid in the photo is my son. So you should search in Internet . Therefore you should know why I’m saying that Arizona has the best freeway system.
Nicely made video, although I turned the sound off. I like the floating road signs on the screen and the extra information. If only traffic moved that quickly in real life. The great thing about this video is that it reminds me how lucky I am to have escaped Phoenix!
This is amazing, any shitkicking hickster desert town in the USA has freeways like in Brazil we only have them in Sao Paulo city. And built in the fricking 60s! Please google "Brazil General Infrastructure" and find my skyscrapercity thread on Brazilian highways and infra. I am MOPC.
The most importants cities of the United States are: New York City, N.Y., Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Philadelphia, PA, San Antonio, TX, San Diego, CA, Dallas, TX, and San Jose, CA.
They forgot and left out the endless empty stripmalls and illeagal alien pick up stash house nieghborhoods! A city that is 100 degrees after midnight sucks!
I love the heat! The desert, the nearby snowy mountains, close proximity to mexico and los angeles and most of all, the prices. Phoenix is crazy cheap.
There is a lot to like about this area but its overrated crap compared to Las Vegas. Phoenix has the disadvantages of Las Vegas just even more with less upsides.
