I was lucky enough to attend both fights and they're up there with the best sporting events I've been to. Both men are a credit to the sport. Proper legends 👊
The atmosphere in Manchester was astonishing. As soon as it started going wrong for Froch it was pure tension all the way, how is he surviving. Credit to both Froch and Groves, both wanted it badly, left it all in the ring.
George Groves has just done a watch along to the first fight with Froch and gives a commentary on the fight, its well worth watching, its on his podcast channel. Just finished watching it and then this video drops. Great stuff. Best rivalry ever
I love when Rachel gets involved she seems so nice and can tell she adore yous. And can see her being sad when you’re speaking about being beat up by Groves.
It’s a great story of British Boxing. I’m just glad both men made it out with their faculties and wealthy. The fact they’re friends and still working and earning is epic!
Big fan of yours. Your epic fights with Groves paved the way for a new era of gigantic boxing events not seen in decades. Groves at the time was harsh and behaved immature but to his credit, all the trash-talking and mind games garnered huge attention all around the globe and helped to make it all possible. Fierce and extremely confident young Groves was a marketing machine, he played the part of a young villain and you were the grizzled veteran he sought to dethrone. The narrative was perfect so to speak and I've never been so excited for a boxing event as I was before the second one. It was truly spectacular to witness with that perfect Rocky ending like the icing on the cake, and I'm so happy you two get along now.
I'll never get tired of listening to the Froch family, or George Groves, talking about the fights that they had. Legendary, thanks so much for the content you guys still put out.
I lumped on George that night. Watching how he got to you on the sky boxing show on a Friday, I sensed you were as good as done. George was the up and coming kid. As much as you hated him, it was nowhere near as much as I hated you and that stoppage that night! In the rematch I obviously had George again but that was a different Froch. A more fitter and determined one. Your legacy has been cemented. You vs Calzaghe (both in your prime) would have been the ultimate dream. Great channel and content Carl. And thanks for the memories and the money loss. 😂
I do like the fact that you both get along well now. I was also pleased that George eventually won a title. Really enjoying this channel, it's a good laugh and very relaxed.
Thanks for getting me really into boxing, your fight vs GG and the rematch made British boxing really special, love the channel and have a blessed new year boss man, love the channel
This popped up out of the blue. I remember well the first fight, build up, surprise and controversy. Never doubted you for a minute Cobra, had watched all your previous fights as a kid. And I remember the sweet hook you laid all the controversy to rest with in the rematch. Gonna go watch them again now 👍👊🏻
Yeah just re-watched the first fight and it was one of the worst stoppages I have ever seen. It hasn't aged well at all. I remember being a huge Froch fan at the time (still am) and thought it was a great win. Then I rewatched it and realised how bad the stoppage was. Just watched a podcast were Groves is giving a commentary about the fight and he clearly wasn't hurt at all. Tired and exhausted maybe but definitely not out on his feet
@@laurarules3642It was a terrible, terrible stoppage. Groves was 100% slowing down but he showed no signs he was completely out of it....Then for Howard "let me stop the fight" Foster to get Groves in a headlock when he stopped him 🤣🤣 just madness
@@KOTalk lol George Groves on his commentary to fight used a good hypothetical situation as an example. He said he felt like a guy who had been training for a huge long distance marathon and he was miles in front of everybody else, could see the finish line on the horizon and was about to claim his victory and then some idiot jumps out of the crowd and rugby tackles him to the ground and he loses the race lol That idiot would be Howard Foster 🤣
Rachel, Carl, as a big fan of your channel, I have to say this might be the best video yet. That fight will forever go down as one of - if not - the greatest for me. I will never forget the look my brother gave me (new to boxing at the time) after I had spent hours telling him how you couldn’t be hurt, George is fast but largely all talk, and you would flatten him, only for that punch in round 1 to happen. What a fight. And to see you so humble and complimentary to George, and the fact that your now mates, forever cements this rivalry and story as nothing short of epic. What legends you both are. Looking forward to Froch Groves II 10 year vid!
I was at that fight. It was incredible. One of the best nights of my life. From start to finish, it was absolutely electric. I was also at the Bute fight, another great fight with an amazing atmosphere, but nothing comes close to that night in Manchester
I’m from Essex London borders so really should have supported George … I wanted Carl to win buy a knockout both fights ..Then I went on to be a massive George Groves Fan .. two incredible professionals a credit to their sport and their Families..Absolutely amazing that they are now firm friends love watching them together on any platform.. very entertaining and insightful 🇬🇧👊🏼❤️😎
Full respect to two warriors who gave us two excellent fights, edge of seat stuff, well done guys. Also love your podcast when you get you missus involved, she adds a different perspective and seems to genuinely like boxing.
Carl you was and always be my favourite fighter I love how you was just a warrior and took care of business but blimey bro your Mrs is fit and a really nice lady you must feel blessed my man
I think it’s great to see that you have both become friends. There’s no point at all holding on to all that kind of negative energy towards each other when you both didn’t really even know each other on personal terms. Life is to short to hold grudges. For most men and typically high achieving men it is just pure ego that gets in the way . Once you can push that aside and get to know someone it helps you grow
Both fights were simply brilliant. The sort of fights that really get your heart racing. There was so much genuine hatred there - but its so fantastic that you're such great friends now. Its what boxing's all about 👏👏
Brilliant once again. It's a long time since I got so excited about new video notifications. Breath of fresh air. The honesty from you is so refreshing. Rachel handles you really well when you let her get a word in 😂
You're delivering something quite special with episodes like this guys. Yet again very engaging content. I've said it before but you're both a breath of fresh air for the boxing world. Keep it coming champs 🫡✌️
Rachel is a great addition to the show Carl(and it's not because i'm some coomer like the rest of the comment section). she asks questions and gives him someone to bounce things off. Rachel in more episodes please 👍👍
Its great to see that hatred of each other and now likeing and being great friends later. That's how it should be and shows how you respect each other after going to war on each other, Ben & Eubank had sort of the same outcome years later.
Two great fights. The drama was stupendous. The buildup, the gloves are off. It was the perfect rivalry where you truly could tell each tighter totally disliked the other and every comment was just getting drilled further into there mind where there's no way you can't not keep thinking I can't stick this guy. George looked like the perfect ginger to wind anyone right up. Class boxer with a sweeping cross and fast hands. Froch had that old fashioned grit. No fear, could of lived any type of life and grafted hard. Respect.
Great team and lovely couple I love you're podcasts , I love listening to the stories. What got me into boxing was marvellous Marvin he inspired me to box and I will always love the sport .thanks again guys ❤
This is so great that Carl and George can now be friends and realise they gave us 2 brilliant battles. Not going to lie though Froch was my man I wanted him to smash George maybe more than Carl did. Carl fought them all home and away what a career. A true legend of the sport and a rightly deserving HOFer
Love these podcasts Carl and Rachael were born to entertain, Creases me when you add the tongue in cheek snipes at grovesy who is another boss lad 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Brilliant 👍
Can’t believe that’s been 10 years! It was the first fight I ever went to live, atmosphere was insane. Can remember the undercard being lively as well, sure only one fight went the distance that night, people getting KO’d all over. 😂
Thank you for this Carl especially at the end with regards to how you and George became friends and how you can overcome Hate through communication. Great fights between you both also. 👍
For the casual boxing fan (me and friends), both these fights almost become a princess Diana moment. We all remember where we were at the time especially the 2nd fight. That was massive for British boxing. Fair play boys.
Literally slapped my legs and applauded the Brent call back that was obviously coming at 04:18. You and Groves (and Dec Taylor) are great for sly references to The Office.
Wow, 10 years. I remember it like it was last year. In fairness though rachel hasn't aged a day and the cobra has aged very well and i love the relationship between him and groves now as both are great guys. Respect.
Hi Carl. Congrats on your career. The story between George and yourself is a great one to tell especially how you left it all slide after matters were done in Wembley. Keep up the great work on this channel!
Frock still making little jibes at Groves after all this time, you can tell that Groves tormenting him and his public reactions back then still bother him now. I love how he tries to play it off as banter... we see through you, mush
Entertaining episode again. Thanks. Groves really pushed your buttons Carl, it was fun to watch. I've watched all your PPV on Sky Carl and when Groves dropped you in round one that did make the match. He was down on his haunches and looked like a snake ready to strike even though you are the Cobra! His back was really up against the wall. Groves had nothing to lose. Control your emotions. Wasn't the famous fight Alan Minter who lost his cool and lost against Hagler. It was stopped a little early. Maybe another 2-3 seconds because he was ahead, but had foster let it go on we would not have had the 2nd fight. It is a rule in boxing that you always always always shake hands at the end.
Interesting stuff, it's great how such a tense rivalry has ended up in friendship, as it should with two great fighters. And Rachel has such a delightful , down-to-earth personality, she lights the room up with her smile and laughter.
I myself can relate to this rivalry ....i was so competitive in motor racing and hated a guy who i was either just beating me and me him to the championship, but after we had finished motor racing became great friends......
Theres no way the fight was stopped to early.imagine another 2 big shots going into groves head from froch the true champion.saying words that the fans are thinking.froch will always be my favourite boxer of all time and talks sense.love froch and groves meet and greet😂😂😂.great bromance ❤
Carl what a legend, watch every fight I could and can't believe it was 10 years ago when poor George get rob 😅, I loved your wars every time you boxed and personally I thought you let yourself down with the way you talked to George and iam over the moon that your good friends now , thanks for the fantastic night's fella 🥊🥊
Its great to see enemies becoming friends, i think this reflects a lot in the fight community and its good to see. Keep up the good work Carl. Like you i thought it was a stoppage, we cant have fighters lives potentially ruined so it was the right decision for me.
You are a legend mate, but the boxing God's were with you with Fosters decision. We will nether know if it continued. Made history Hall of Fame Boxer. 🥊🥊🥊🥊
Watched both fights live (on TV) just mean I remember the excitement and build up to the second one especially. Buzz off this channel and Rachel is a great co-host for Carl as well as obviously a beautiful woman.
Came up to Manchester that night with a mate from Bristol to watch. We were big Carl fans, but knew how dangerous Georges wierd over hand right was. We probably should have warned you Carl 😂
Bad stoppage Frochy. However, you smashed him in the rematch! Ps. Love your vids with Rachel, we all fancy your missus', said respectfully. Best wishes.
