On 17th of december I had my usual check up with my mid wife. My blood pressure was perfect and the heart rate of the baby was great as well. But I told my mid wife that on Thursday (the day before) I didn’t felt hem as frequently and as strong as I used to. And I was a little bit concerned. So she send me to the hospital to do a ctg scan. That's when everything changes.

Alpha thalassemia is a type of thalassemia that is inherited (passed down through families). It is a blood disorder that reduces how well the body produces healthy red blood cells and normal hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is an iron-rich protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to cells throughout the body.
I am an Alpha thalassemia carrier (Type 1). Two genes are missing. You may have mild anemia. You may have no symptoms (I had non). As a pregnant woman a Blood/DNA test (from the father too) is needed to make a diagnosis of alpha thalassemia.
