This short film is part of a campaign highlighting the situation of students under attack globally. It also highlights the pilot programme Students at Risk in Norway, a programme which allows students, who are being persecuted due to their non-violent struggle for human rights and democracy, an opportunity to complete their studies at a Norwegian institution of higher education.
Joana Momambe from Zimbabwe came to Norway through the Students at Risk project in the fall of 2016.
So far 511 attacks on academic freedom and higher education has been reported since 2011, according to the latest documentation done by the Scholars at Risk-Network (Academic Freedom Monitor monitoring.acad.... The latest figures show that between May 2015 and September 2016 158 attacks on higher education in 35 countries occurred. Among these incidents 39 are related to organized student activities.
