Pink Floyd's music is written in sequence. It's written so you listen to an album from start to finish and it tells a story over the entirety of the songs. You can listen to the entire dark side of the moon album live at PULSE. When you listen to the full albums, it's an experience you will not get from any other artist! 🤟🤟

But keep in mind, this is mainly for their concept albums (Dark Side of the Moon thru The Wall), they have a total of 14 albums, only 4 were concept albums.

Time is easily my favorite PF song. Wish You Were Here is amazing, absolutely, but it’s also been so commercialized and played-still gorgeous and next level. Listen to Dark Side of the Moon. There’s a reason it still holds the record for most consecutive weeks in the top ten
@AI_Surfer
@AI_Surfer 3 года назад
I was 12 years old in 1973 when I first heard 'Dark Side Of The Moon', through my brother who had only been back from fighting in Vietnam a short time. I will admit at that age I couldn't fully comprehend what I was hearing, but I remember absolutely loving the song 'Time'. A couple of years later at the age of 14 in 1975, the album 'Wish You Were Here' comes out, and again I hear the album because another family member is listening to it. Again, at age 14 I couldn't fully appreciate the songs 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', but I did really dig 'Welcome To The Machine', 'Have A Cigar', and 'Wish You Were Here'. A couple of years after that at the age of 16 in 1977, 'Animals' comes out. By now I was at an age where I could fully comprehend and appreciate Pink Floyd's music. My first impression of 'Animals' when it first came out, was that it sounded like an extension of the song(s) 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' in several parts of the album, but was definitely unique Pink Floyd and more of an immersion into the music, rather than just a listen. Then a couple of years later at the age of 18 in 1979, 'The Wall' comes out and the rest is history. I have been so blessed to have experienced Pink Floyd from such a young age, and to have it be while it was all happening for the first time. The thing is, is that I could say that about countless bands during the same time period. I recommend that you give the band ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) a listen one day soon, and I think you'll love what you hear. Again, all that incredible music from the same era going on at the same time. When it comes to Rock, and music in general, us Boomers were spoiled as all hell, and we knew it then, and we appreciated the hell out of it back then as well.

☝️ A suggestion - love your videos. Maybe do an *album reaction* livestream, and listen to a whole album (as so many are suggesting) cover to cover. Pause after each song to give us your reaction, and then start it again for the next. We’d love to see your journey... Advertise it in advance and we’ll be there to watch you fall in love just like we did.

Going down to Pink Floydsville? Mind if I tag along mate? Its funny, in the Numb video's you envied us for having had such great music growing up to...nah, its the other way around my friend, nothing but nothing beats a voyage of discovery, we envy you, trust me...so, Numb, Pulse, greatest live guitar solo ever...the second greatest live guitar solo ever, High Hopes, at Pulse... but trust me when I write this, the studio version is amazing, the Pulse version sends you soaring t another world, but the AOL session (link below) will bring your soul to its knee's and cradle itself to peace...promise me you'll watch it whichever version you choose to view, and thank me another time...so, a very quick guide to Pink Floyd...'Dark Side of the Moon', 'Wish You Were Here', 'Animals' and then 'the Wall', the albums in that order, what preceded and followed these four albums are great, but these four albums, oh my, you lucky lucky lad, the galaxy awaits you...Dave Gilmour is a God, the greatest guitarist ever (he's the lead singer for Numb and Wish you were here...Roger Waters the creative genius that is Pink Floyd, his poetry will live forever (people call them lyrics, how bizarre), Rick Wright, beloved amongst all Floyd fans, the glue for Waters and Gilmour for so long, oh his imagination, the sound effects...then Nick Mason, the absolute heart beat in the background...and then there's Syd, you learn about Syd, he was there at the beginning, but life can be cruel and he is the inspiration behind the great masterpieces....and finally, there is 'Echoes' from the album 'Meddle', and thats the Big Bang Theory, and you'll finally understand why they are the greatest band of all time....enjoy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o3O_Wi9UDfY.html

Simplest thing I can say on you beginning your introduction to Pink Floyd. One, while there may be songs you like more than others, Pink Floyd simply doesn't put out bad songs. Two, "Dark Side of The Moon" and "The Wall" are full concept albums. Before you watch the movie of The Wall, you must sit and listen to the album beginning to end. Absorb it and let yourself be absorbed into it. The movie is good, but the context of the movie may not be the context you feel. "Dark Side of The Moon" and "The Wall" will take you places within yourself, show you things you didn't expect to see about yourself. Then you can watch the movie of the Wall and see it from another direction there as well. You've got a long way to go, son. Pink Floyd, Rush, Heart, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Fleetwood Mac... You've got a long way to go, lad and I envy you the trip, experiencing them for the first time.

David Gilmour does most of the singing for Floyd but the bass player Roger Waters was writing most of the lyrics at this point. Waters and Gilmour have not gotten along for many years now. So the last few albums were written and performed without Waters. Now that Richard Wright (keyboards) has passed away there is a lot of material that David will not perform without him. Wright was key along with David's voice to creating the sound that is Floyd. The live vids of Floyd on youtube are simply amazing too. The light shows etc are the best PERIOD !!!

Just a suggestion, but it might be better to just skip the studio versions of Pink Floyd songs, Pink Floyd are one of the few bands that sound better live. Whether it's from Pulse or Delicate sound of thunder or the classic Live at Pompeii, they've always prided themselves on being the band that people went to to hear the music not see the band.

if i may. hope this helps your understanding of pink floyd. this song is about sid berret. founding member of the band. front man . sid created the floyd sound in the 60's. sid fried his brain on heavy acid trips. he dropped a lot of it. he went zombie before dark of the moon. david gillmore took sids place. david was friends of all the band before. band wrote "wish you were here" in sadness of the loss of sid could not function any more. sid walked into the recording of this song. band did not know it was sid. one member said. that is sid. band cried. no words spoken. sid left. glad you like pink floyd :>

They didn't do bad songs. You had to wait for them to release albums but it was always worth it. Mostly it was Roger Waters (bass) who wrote the lyrics, They all wrote the music but David Gilmour (Guitar) was probably the biggest force in the musicality although Richard Wright (Keys) was very influential on the jazzier chords and the layers of sound that washed the background. All the lyrics by Waters are amazing. You have so much to look forward to, I'm jealous of your future path down this journey.

Pink Floyd didn't write songs, they wrote stories. Their stories were best consumed by listening to the whole album in sequence because more than any of their contemporaries, Pink Floyd wrote concept albums. You are right young man this music is 50 years old. In 50 years from now nobody will be listening to anything that's coming out now. They will be listening to music that's 100 years old. Whether it be pink floyd, zeppelin, clapton, steve winwood, allman brothers, yes, aerosmith, emerson lake and palmer or whoever. This music will never die or fade away.

Welcome to the machine, Careful with that axe Eugene live at Pompeii 1972, the great gig in the sky, Dogs, remember a day, keep talking Pulse, astronomy domine... There are too many songs of Pink Floyd that you can react to and they are all masterpieces. I'm talking about hours of pure musical experience and not even a single millisecond wasted. Pink Floyd never reached perfection. Perfection was always trying to reach Pink Floyd.

Go to the album "Dark Side of the Moon" next. Do a little research on the album sales first. It'll blow your mind.

A lot of Pink Floyd albums are meant to be listened from start to finish (but the disc flip pause). And all songs are blend together to make a big long journey... When you listen to a Pink Floyd album this way, you have a real mental journey, you trip without drug, they transport your "soul" in places you couldn't image... Of course you need to discover the "hit tracks", but make yourself a real man, listening to the whole album "religiously" just for you once you have overviewed the tracks. You can't imagine the differences. A full range of new dimensions will appears. It brings alternate state of consciousness. Life changing experience... This intense experience is real for 4 albums, Dark Side, Wish you were Here, Animals, The Wall... After that it's less impressive, less experimental, less "trippy". And before that it's really good already but not as polished as those ones.
