Hey buddy it tickles me to death that you feel this way about Pink Floyd cuz you took the words out of my mouth I felt the exact same way when I listen to them I close my eyes and they take me away somewhere and yes they should have there own category for music theres nothing else like Floyd. Makes me proud that your listening to them God Bless you and your mom 🙏❤
She's listening to the words, where I'm...... Yeah, you're young and don't have fond or hurtful memories that has spend multiple decades inside a human heart. Adults and old people still driving through life with the mind & heart of a young person, just like yourself, but with the trunk in the back loaded with experiences, wisdom, knowledge and competence and therin lies the difference.
Love it man, I'm 64 and watching you is like going back in time for the first reactions I had to the music I love. Like your Stairway To Heaven reaction, priceless man!
I love your Mom loving Pink Floyd. I have loved Floyd for 56 years exactly. I am glad both of you are here. This song touches everyone deeply although David says whenever he sings this song he always thinks of the man he replaced, the late Syd Barrett RIP.
Loved watching you two ❤. What a character study in the duality of emotions...youth reaction to the song with happiness and optimism...the mature age wisdom and long lived human interaction with all the experiences of love and loss. I'm with mom; I love the words😢 Exactly! I 60 years old thoughts of my mother and brother who've passed make me sad and 😊 smile
They kind of do have their own genre! Psychedelic Rock! There are other Psychedelic bands but none of them at this level. I actually don't know any! Psychedelic meaning that Pink Floyd have learned how to tap into your subconscious, make you confront yourself and heal you. They are meant to be listened to in the dark with your eyes closed Another great reaction 😊 Thank you
Glad your mum likes them I'm 70 years old live England I've been listening to them for the last 50 years look up the late Gary Moore one of the all time greats
Me & my mom danced to this as our song for my wedding which was like being at a concert, the entire gust list knew the lyrics and everone sang to it which was not planned. She introduced me to Floyd as a teenager and I never looked back...
Pink Floyd is in it`s own genre. you cannot catagorise them at all. lovely video it`s a real beautiful thing, mother and son 2 generations spending quality time with each other. this is missing from the world now.
This has always been a very emotional track for me. My first true love announced she was leaving me shortly before my birthday, but still gave me this album which she had bought me as a birthday present. Hence this particular track always brings a lump to my throat, so can totally understand it being emotional to your (lovely) mum, albeit for different reasons.
I think it's great that you have your mom on with you. Mom, you are adorable. Two of my favorite lyric songs are TIME by Pink Floyd and OPERATOR by Jim Croce.
It's wonderful that you have introduced your mum to probably the best band in a world that you quite rightly say that takes you on a journey a trip to another level and with out question David Gilmore strings are attached to his soul as he makes love with his guitar to every fan whatching him
I totally understand your mom's reaction. This song was played at my best friend's funeral. It held a lot of meaning and the effect was powerful. I've lost over 16 close friends through the years and these lyrics resonate in my mind each time. When my time is done here I want this song played at my memorial as well.
I love your bringing you mom into uour sphere! Personally, my kids were raised on PF, and now my grandchildren and great grandchildren are hearing it. No better music for them to learn to appreciate! Love seeing your enthusiasm for them. She raised you well!
This song is about the founder Syd Barrett who had to leave due to illness, a long and tragic story. The album was about him. Syd and David were friends from youth although Roger Waters had his hand in the song too. Mom, whether you review it or not, try the 1994 version of "Sorrow", from same concert as your Comfortably Numb review at Earl's Court. Search Pink Floyd Sorrow Multicam. That version is a mashup between what Sir David made the Pulse album into from that concert, and the original Pay Per View version of that concert. The PPV is a little longer. Same for Comfortably Numb, the Multicam version is a little longer. You won't be sorry.
The thing I love about your reaction videos is you actually let the music play before commenting. I hate others that have to comment every other verse of the song
If your Mom likes the lyrics, get her to listen to Pink Floyd 'Lost for Words' , its a rehearsal performance from the Pulse tour in 1994 . Great song and great words.
Pink Floyd can't be categorized. They're that good and it doesn't matter what genre of music you prefer, when you listen to Floyd it moves you. It gets to your soul and you're never the same. I've been a Floyd fan since the early 80s and been fortunate to have seen them in concert several times, as well as Gilmour and Waters as solo performers. I'm not a religious person, but those concerts were as close to a religious experience as it got for me. Welcome aboard, guys.
I'm lucky enough to have grown up with this great band. The best music came out in those days. Floyd, Zeppelin, Queen, Sabbath, Deep purple, Rush and I know I'm missing many more. 64 now and still listening to these fantastic bands.
I only say this because I am a Floyd freak. Pulse was the name of the tour. I took my mom to it shortly before she passed. When ya say "At Pulse", Pulse isn't a place, that was the name of the tour. Overall great job!
Was refreshing to see your mom reacting with you. What a sweetheart. A little surprised to hear you say that Wish You Were Here is your favorite Pink Floyd studio song, but I get it. It is certainly a beautiful song. Great reaction video.
Crazy story about this album. Syd Barrett was the original guitarist/singer for the first 2 albums before he developed severe schsofrenia and was replaced permanently by David Gilmour. Syd went on to live out his life with his mother and siblings and the band had no further contact with Syd. Fast-forward 7 years later the band was set to record this album Wish You Were Here which is a tribute of sorts to Syd with the song Shine on you crazy diamond which IS about Syd. The day of the recording of shine on, the band was in the studio and guess who showed up....Syd Barrett himself. Now the band saw him but didn't recognize him at first because he had gained weight, shaved all the hair on his body including his eyebrows, and was jumping around giggling with a toothbrush in his mouth. Well the band finally realized it was Syd and became emotional and wept because they could see how bad a mental state he was really in. The guys to this day have no explanation how this could have happened because they had no contact with him or his family for 7 years, and said something cosmic happened that day. Can't imagine the odds of that.
If you watch the documentaries "The Story of Wish You Were Here" and "Reflections and Echoes" you find out part is urban myth. They found out later that the reason he was there was because the previous August he had been persuaded by Floyd's former manager to record eleven tracks for a potential album. At that time, he was still somewhat normal looking. The following December he sold the rights to everything he still owned. Abbey Road secretary said he would show up every other week or so looking for royalties for music he didn't own anymore. In June of 75, they were doing the final mix on SYD when he showed up for a non-existent royalty check. Except this time, he was overweight, had no eyebrows, but did still have a bit of hair on his head. The place was busier than normal because Gilmour was holding his wedding reception there. Syd started wandering around the studio and control room. Everyone thought he was someone else's guest. Wright was in the control room and said he kept going to the mirror and pull a toothbrush from his pocket and brush his teeth. It was Wright that recognized him. He asked the engineer to replay the suite so Syd could hear it. When they asked what he thought, he said "Sounds a bit old". That's when Waters started tearing up. Gilmour's wedding reception was starting down the hall, so they had to leave and lost track of him. Waters was the only one who had not seen him since 1968. Gilmour, Wright and Mason were all involved with his solo projects. Gilmour and Wright had seen him in 1973. Water's ran into him again in 1977 standing in front of Harrods Department Store holding a paper bag. When Waters went up to him, he dropped the bag and ran away. The bag was full of fresh and rotten candy.
Pink Floyd paved the way for the ambient music . If you want to go to a place out of this world listen to ambient music : Robert Rich & Alio Die (Fissures), or Steve Roach, Jorge Reyes & Susuo Saiz (Forgotten gods) . Even they heavily influenced the prog rock genre, lyricwise and guitarwise, just listen to Marillion (the first albums with Fish or even the brilliant "Season ' end with Hogarth)
Please, consider reacting with your mom to a Pink Floyd cover/tribute, one of the best I think. NIGHTWISH - HIGH HOPES live (Let's see if the international NIGHTWISH Army is awake and finds your channel. They are nice people.) Greetings from Finland!
There are so many elements to this song, how the intro was actually played over a radio, the acoustic guitar, David Gilmore using his voice to go with his electric guitar playing, the static at the end... This is another ode to Syd Barrett, the original drummer that fought and lost to his demons of mental health, drugs and booze.
Hi you two! I put this off til today, bc I had a funeral yesterday and was still a little rattled, and knew I'd get weepy with this one! Mom is such a sweetheart & looks so much like my aunt when she was young, and the funeral was for her husband, my uncle. 😢 So the tears were mutual, but a lot of smiles too!! I really love this, when you share the music with mom & your friend too! Thanks for this treat & I look forward to your next reaction. ... I'll see you on the dark side of the moon!😉❤✌🤘
I sing, and I’ve always wanted to sing this song. I can’t make it through the last verse, I get emotional. This is also my favorite Pink Floyd studio song.
Omg you two are so cute, you remind me of my 17 year old daughter & me. I introduced her to Pink Floyd couple of years back but she’s only just recently added it to her own music collection 👍
i think its really awesome that you listen to it together, and that your mum is is really listening comes through, it's a really special bond to share, so good on you both for doing it together. may it bring you closer and give you strength.
You need to first listen to the studio version of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond parts I-V" and parts VI-IX, both you and your mother will love it. It is simply amazing. Then the live Pulse version afterward. The entire Wish You Were Here album is a masterpiece.
Well damn, Mom. I was going to compliment you by saying I see where your son gets his looks because you really are such a hottie. 😀 But then when you talked about how Wish You Were Here made you think of family members that you missed, that is just so right on. I loved this when I first heard this in junior high, but I've noticed that it has a changing meaning for me as I've gone through life. By the time I was college-age it felt different to me, and listening to it now, it just has such impact. It makes me think about lost loves and others whom I used to be close to and no longer am, lost loved ones who have passed, and friends that I've lost along the way who died too young, and so forth. The lyrical structure of it is powerful as well. In the first verse, he's using similes to drive home the whole range of the way people can perceive and feel about things, especially if they get lost along the way to some degree. And in the second one he's asking a series of challenging questions; it sound like he's really trying to get someone to think about what their motivations are for their choices in life. But no matter what, when the chorus comes, it's as simple as he is really deeply missing someone to the core of his being. And the music along with it just communicates that so well.
Have you tried ‘echos’ Live at Pompeii? I think the son will love it as the 2nd half is instrumental. It blew my mind & my 17 year old daughters mind too.
The words to this are indeed very good. When it was released I didn't know it was about Sid (or even that there was a Sid) but it still had an emotional impact and I just made up my own interpretation
I'd like to see your take on Planet-P project, especially their album"Pink world". I think it's very Pink Floyd like. It's a double concept album like the wall. It features Tony Carey, he was the key board player for Rainbow back when Dio was with them.
Great reaction with your mom! As a comparison of bands that take you completely on a journey, I add The Doors, America, Moody Blues, Jimi, Janis, Dylan, Allman Brtothers, of course the Beatles and the Stones, and a few others. Here's a great suggestion: this version of The Band's classic "The Weight" by Playing For Change. It is a 50th anniversary worldwide performance, so beautiful, and my favorite version. The timeless tune will be familiar. The song's primary writer, Robbie Robertson, begins: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ph1GU1qQ1zQ.html
Hi Dude, Really enjoying your reactions with your Mum, PF's output transcends most of what passes for music these days it's timeless and resonates across generations, I have loads of playlists on my (channel)! 1 Led Zep video/audio (It's a start)! Just checking Mum does read comments there's a 'Classic 70's Disco/Funk' one if she wants to let her hair down lol, All the best Jim, Surrey, 🎶🎸🎶UK👍
Hey. My husband Steve and I enjoy watching your videos. We love Pink Floyd. Yall should do a reaction video to Roger Waters singing "Mother" in studio with his band. It's amazing. Your mom looks familiar. What state do yall live in?
I was subscribed to this person's channel and he said he just didn't understand why ppl were so crazy about them...I quickly unsubscribed him. Philistine! Lol!!
@@daftoptmst - interesting that you should say that. There are clues here that tells me that this guy is not genuine. In other words, he's just pretending to like Pink Floyd, presumably just to get views. If you go back to his reviews from a month ago, you'll see that he has reviewed Floyd's 'Coming Back To Life' and then 10 videos later, he has reviewed exactly the same song again. Why did he do it twice? I think it's because he'd forgotten that he had already reviewed it, which tells me that he's not really into the music at all. If he was, he wouldn't have forgotten a tremendous song like that. And his mother's reactions on here? Hmm, well the least said about that the better. All I would say to that is 'what reactions?'
@@showmoke I just fell across this chanel bc I saw PF and decided to check it out (is what most super fans will do) When I said this guy I was talking about another fella. If he is doing that, that's messed up. Why lie about that? Shame!!! Lol!
@@daftoptmst - ah ok. In that case perhaps you could check what I was saying - that he's reviewed the same song twice. Why would he do that unless he had forgotten that he had already reviewed it a week or two earlier which makes me think that he's not really interested in Floyd's music at all. What do you think?
@@showmoke I hate fake reactions a lot of ppl do it especially with movie videos. It's so obvious they've watched it when they react before the scene comes up or just over react. Or sing along. I'm like dude, I thought this was your first time listening or seeing this? There's another guy who reviews movies and you can tell if he's watched it bc he overeacts or makes a movement b4 anything happens. The only reason I don't unsubscribe is bc he's funny as hell and charismatic and there's some movies he really did watch along with us which is most of time. But yup, hate phonies, and can spot them right away
This whole album is about the formar lead singer of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett. Who they had to sack becaose he took to meny drugs, he couldn´t perform. Listen to Shine on Your crazy Diamond. (SYD) He visited them before they recorded this album and when they saw what bad condition he was in they wrote this songs related to him
Since your mother likes to listen to the lyrics, it would be nice to display them on your screen. Especially when it's a studio version, since there are no visuals.
Your mum is roughly the same age as me I think, maybe a little younger so I'm interested as to what music she was into as a kid, more specifically than "pop" lol, my apologies if you have Both answered this before.
From Roger Waters in 2015....'The Last Refugee'. I think it was off of his last solo album. A very short song, but he co-produced the video that goes along with it. I'll see if I can find it for you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_XdLNqWYgGI.html
i think i was about your age when i discovered Pink Floyd. I sucked up every album, even the obscure ones. From then on it was my favourite band. The more you listen to it, the higher your demand on music will become, wich basicly means that you cannot enjoy todays trash anymore.
You really need to react to Pink Floyd 'High Hopes' with your Mom. I think she would love the words and meaning to this song. It's a masterpiece. Do this live version please. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pDKPz6KD8fs.html
