Thank you for telling me about Margo Robbie and JKR. Bleah and gag... now I understand the Andrew Tate/JKR comparison, I didn't think she'd have any but the most fringe patriarchal women and men thinking she was anything but odious, but the term TERF was coined for a reason... It's deep in the marrow to be a woman living in the world, it is something you can never escape. Everyone (and by everyone, I mean cis men) should watch America Ferrera's speech at the end until they understand how women are excluded from participating or being taken seriously, like all the time. - And goddess forbid you are intersectional in one or more ways... - Speaking of, thanks for saying that about the (mostly or completely lack of) meaningful intersectionality, a huge missed opportunity - though I like how they acknowledge that Barbieland is superficial (in feminism, and by proxy, all other -isms, such as but not limited to, racism and ablism, actually, there's a great point about how representation is important and in no way enough, just like with the trans barbie).
Indeed. I doubt there will ever be a sequel, but if another movie comes along that wants to really tackle these issues, I think really looking at BARBIE and what it did right and wrong would be a great starting point.
