"I am gay" What if your favorite Kpop idol tells his sexual orientation? (ft. Holland) 

I will never understand this part of being worried/angry about a celebrity dating. Otherwise, we're still behind the times when it comes to worrying about other people's sexuality.

I was so excited to see Holland! I'm so glad he's starting to get more popular. He really deserves it.

He named himself as "Holland" because that's the first country to legalise same sex marriage. I was really surprised that neither Yumi or Jei didn't know about him. I thought he might be so popular. I got to know him as the first open gay idol. I mean he acted as the main character in korean BL drama called "Ocean likes me". He also did a cameo in the recent BL drama "Roommates of Poongduck 304" (as Ho Cheol - Seo Jaeyoon's friend). He even has a RU-vid channel.

Why should the sexuality of an idol matter to a fan? Like they are a fan because of the music. Why do fans try to invade the privacy of their idols?

I don't really care at all if an idol it's gay or if she has a girlfriend or she's married, the only things I worry about idols it's that they stay healthy (mentally and physically), their appearances in TV shows and YT series/videos and being able to create amazing music, that's all I need from them.

I'm so happy that he is showing his true self. I hope Korea becomes more accepting of the LGBT community.

As a man from the LGBT+ community who listens to kpop sometimes, I was really happy to discover Holland. I'll look up at his projects

You don't understand how fast i clicked on this video.... *I love you holland!!!!!!!* He's just such an inspiring artist when you really look in to his music and backstory. It's not easy being rejected by 15 companies just because of your sexuality and then saving up money to start a solo career with no help. I hope to see more of him on this channel.

I'm so happy that Holland go to go on giggle. He is such an amazing person and artist and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. And thanks to Holland I had the courage to come out to my family as well ☺️🏳️‍🌈

i would love to hear his opinion on fanservice. how hetero idols act lovey-dovey with their fellow group mates just to get more famous. and how BL shows are famous yet an actual homosexual idol gets hate and abused. the fans are so two faced.... i saw his pretty recent tweet that he got beaten on the streets. poor man. he deserves the whole world and even more ❤️‍🩹 hang in there, Holland!!!!

He's so brave, so many men who are either out or closeted, I think it's nice to know that they have someone to look up to. Idols leave such a huge impression on people and he would for sure find people that relate.

I'm from the Netherlands, but I didn't know that's why he called himself Holland. That's pretty cool. Also, little fun fact: Holland is actually just a small part of the Netherlands. There's two provinces called north and south Holland that are Holland together. Even though Holland is often used to refer to the Netherlands as a whole, in reality it's just a part of the country

You're right to be worried about him getting hurt. Because he has been, and not just emotionally/verbally -- and not just in the distant past. I will always admire and respect him for his courage. He stands out there every single day being a magnet for hate and disdain and judgment (even more so than every other idol, because lbr, it's an innately toxic environment) while just trying to live his life being true to himself and making art. All while essentially on his own, without fellow queer idols standing alongside him to provide support or strength in numbers or a united front or even just a cushion against the hateful spotlight. Someday queer idols and other artists will be safe to be out, and I hope when that time finally comes, people will remember that Holland laid some of the very first pavers on that path. He takes the hits rn so later down the line, others won't have to. He shouldn't have to either, but the world can really suck sometimes.

several Kpop singers are gay and in huge famous groups. Many are depressed, suffer from loneliness and anxiety due to it. Sadly some have killed themselves. Due to SK's stance on gay rights they keep hidden. So sad and I hope one day SK will join the rest of the world on equality. As a fan your job is to listen to their music, watch their shows, buy their music and merch, stream. NOT dictate who they date and when. Not be up in their personal life. Only in Kpop do you see such and extreme interest in the personal lives of artist. In America when a singer dates we are happy for them and support them and if they break up we get mad at their ex with them lol

When I saw Holland here I was a bit nervous for how the guests would react but I’m happy to see that they were pretty accepting and respectful.

I remember this young artist.... I left a comment about the MV *Neverland*. Beautiful song. It's wonderful to see how well Holland is doing in life & how far he continues to soar!!! My granddaughter was 13 yrs old when she told me that she was a lesbian, and how hard it was for her to come to me and open up. My only question to her was .... "Are YOU Happy" she said yes, and "that's all that matters... I will love her no matter who she is, what she chooses to be in life or what her sexual preferance is .... WHY? Because she is a Person that brings me joy, love, pride & above all happiness... shouldn't I, as her grandmother give her the same unconditional emotional support? YES.....!!! If you think otherwise... well, that is something that will rot slowly into your soul .. which is none of my concern.

to people wondering why we should care about an idol's sexuality: in a perfect world, it shouldn't matter! it shouldn't matter that holland is gay, it shouldn't be novel or special. however, we DO NOT live in a perfect world and queerness is still frowned upon, discriminated against, and criminalized in most of the world. having pop culture figures be openly queer is huge in terms of representation and visibility for both gay kids like me and the international queer community as a whole. it reminds the general public and law makers that We Are Here! and We Have A Voice! and We Matter! Listen To Us. it also is so deeply meaningful and inspiring to be able to look at my favorite genres of music and media and see people like me working to bring themselves and their community into the spotlight. ignoring or overlooking holland being gay is doing a disservice to him and his experiences as well as the experiences of queer people everywhere. you can't separate someone's identity from them- this is doubly true in his industry! as an artist, his work is inseparable from who he is- we all create through the lens of our own person. you will not be able to truly appreciate him or his music without acknowledging his identity and contextualizing what it means for him to be an openly gay kpop idol. love you, holland!! harling will support you always

It hurts knowing that there are places and people who put down others based on their sexual orientation. If they arent hurting anybody just let that person be happy, and achieve their dreams.

i think with dating things, international fans are way more open about this because most countries used to that. in my country, celebrities dating are like public consuming things. they even makes money with that. but korea are not used to that to the point dating is considered a scandal. even more with idols especially these days. 4th gen idols can’t even interact because they’re afraid of rumors. its sad that we’re going down from where we used to be. 2nd~3rd gen idols even do ads together and participate in we got married. i really hope people stop thinking that having someone to love is a sin for idols
