Yes with the stock exhaust you have much sound from the airbox. But for example with the bodis exhaust you have the full triple experience 😉 An the bad news is, you have to push it a bit to hear the great sound so you are always too fast.
I love that snarky, earthy bark! And that accompanying 'swooshing' sound to give it a little extra zest. Quality-wise, their bikes look polished and well-built too. I really like that Speed Twin and the 1200RR. Man, if I had the storage space and the finances...my bike collection would explode! That said, I wouldn't swap any of my two bikes for anything :)
A true motorcyclist... at around 10:00 when the text said 'ffwd to 10:47 to skip the boring ride thru town', I thought to myself 'nope, I'm gonna go on the ride thru town'... and I did and it was great🙂
I rode the new 1200RS this week and I own the 1050 RS (NN02 / 2020) - so I had a chance to compare both. here are my riding impressions, - sound of the old 1050RS with Arrows is way better, the new one only sounds good if you rev it - quickshifter of 1200RS is much better - of course handling of the new 1200RS improved a lot ! you feel the lower weight. in some moments it reminded me of the street triple - the seat of the new one is more comfy but it feels like you ride ON the bike, you dont feel as integrated as with the 1050 - brakes improved a lot on the new one as well - I dont agree anymore that the ride by wire of the new one is much worse, fine for me.... - engine is great on both, very elastic and smoot in town, much grunt and very lifely. Triple ftw! But I dont think you really feel the additional (top end) power of the 1200RS until you go on a trackday. If I had to choose one over the other, I would probably stay with the old one because of the sound 🥰but thats only my preference and I think both are equally good.
Thank you for the comparison. I also own the old 1050 RS. I know it is very subjective, but I have a sweet spot for the compact but muscular look of the old model. Furthermore the twin underseat exhaust is a Speed Triple trade mark for me. I kind of feel like the new model looks more like a Street Triple. Objectively I’m sure the new model is a better motorcycle, but the looks is also important for me - and the old model is still a superb motorcycle with a sweet and strong engine.
It is hard when the new one is so much better on paper, but I have to confess I prefer also the look of the old one with the slightly bigger headlamps and the underseat exhausts... gladly i do not have to decide :D
@@aGentleUser I think the new model is more of a Spec sheet warrior and more in the category of a true Hyper Naked. I don’t think of my 1050 RS as a Hyper Naked, to me it is more like a roadster type motorcycle, where the compromise is more leaned towards the correct look of it. For example the twin underseat exhaust was never the “best” solution. It is just for the looks. With the new approach where performance is everything, these compromises that favour the look can’t be afforded. So to my it kinda feels like the Speed Triple sacrificed its soul to become a true Hyper naked. The old Speed Triples only real competitor in my eyes were the Ducati Monster 1200. The new one is directly aimed at the Streetfighter V4, Tuono V4, S1000R, SuperDuke and so on. It is totally fair enough, since these bikes are what is popular these days. In the future I think the 1050 RS will be remembered as the final and best iteration of the original Speed Triple. It was the bike I fell in love with as a child. :-)
I agree with you, having said that a new exhaust on it makes a lovely difference to the sound, the handling on the 1200rs is the best yet but you need to be at the upper end of performance to feel the difference, very very competent street on steroids really
I’ve just come home from riding a week in the Italian Dolomites on my 675R. That machine just keeps on amazing me. With a pair of S22s on it performs like a razor, sharp and precise, like it was made for those kinds of roads. I can imaging riding the same roads on a 1200RS you could be fast, very fast indeed. Thanks for the upload.
@@thomassorensen5983 i own an 2017 street triple rs and would switch in an instant to the 890R, did a testride on the ktm and loved it... but no money right now to switch ^^
Love your videos man! I own a Speed Triple 1200 rs and agree, love the triple sound and love the bike. Also own a streetfighter v4s but like the speed more for the road. Keep making videos!
Just a thought since you have ridden quite some bikes by now. I believe it would be very interesting if you'd create any type of rating for the bikes or at least a follow up-leaderboard. Looking something like daily rider from Zak on Revzilla.
people love ratings and I'm aware of that but I can't rate a bike in a general way. I could only rate it in categories like Travel/Speed/Comfort/Value/Soul and that would mean way too much work. But thanks for the suggestion!
I prefer the sound of the MT-10. I am not a huge fan of 3 cylinder bikes for their sound. I have never ridden one though. It looks like an insanely fun motorcycle. Brilliant riding as usual. I find it really entertaining watching you and listening to your footage. Thank you.
I have, exactly the new 1200, out of a dealership. And... Same. The sound of the three cilinder is, as sound, vibration, and delivery, the less nice of all. I just don't know why, the one cilinder feels and sound like an engine, the two cilinder feels and sound like an engine, the four cilinder feels and sound like an engine, the three cilinder feels like a electric motor and sound like a piece of plastic attached to a bicycle that try to resemble a motorbike sound. I really don't know why.
Dayum, Schööfl, I've said it before, but you're the only youtube rider who consistently allows me to see exactly what he means when he's riding the bike. I could see the planted and smooth suspension in the corners and the excellent quickshifter while braking into corners. What a fantastic bike, Got to be expensive with that fancy suspension, I presume?
thanks a lot mate! I don't even know what it costs. I don't want to know. It always makes me cry since it makes me realize that in this life I won't be able to afford something like this ;)
I commend you for your responsible riding; not just the consideration for the local townspeople but also the fact that you don't take bends on the limit.
I really love the 2 stage stock exhaust on this 1200RS bike; it and the engine sound really great! But I do think that the Yamaha MT-09 sounds a little bit better. Especially with its insane sounding induction roar and its 2 port exhaust that make both sound great from low to high rpms.
Really something that bike! And on the subject of Triumph, there isn't yet a good Tiger 1200 (New T-crank engine) raw video! Would love to see you ride one Schaaf, from what I've heard they sound amazing!
@@Schaaf Good that! 😁 I might also follow your tip and go biking on Gran Canaria when the season ends here. A friend who've already been said it is well worth it.
The Speed Triple high pitching sound is a bit exhausting in my opinion. But anyway cool ride as ever, Schaaf ! Thx for the video. Will drive Passo Falzarego in September 🙂
Thanks for the vid! What do you think of the shift lever? I find it really weird, with a squishy feeling. I find the Street Triple funnier on the road, if you want to keep your driving license. The Speed is frustrating because you want to enjoy its power but then, you are riding at jail-friendly speeds. I also tried the Superduke and find it way more enjoyable on road, as you have instant mindblowing torque and still a good behavior and agility. And the shifter is faster.
@@Schaaf Also, looks like you are getting comfortable again. I love to see it, man! Not too comfortable though, just right. My riding buddy took a small spill the other day, no injuries and is now unconfident. Ive been giving him a lot of pep talks: "You're the same skilled rider you were yesterday, just one bad decision. You're good! 15kph less and you would have made it."
Had a chance to sit a newer speed triple. Beautiful bike but I'm not sure why Triumph made the seating position much more sportier than the previous gen which was a perfect blend of sport and comfort.
great looking bike ! but i still think that this model should have the round headlight, and the faired version should have this double bug eye. just my personal thoughts.
sounds nice and FOR SURE the new one is an AWESOME bike, but soundwise... my old 955i is a headkick compared to a slap :) would like to have or ride the new one anyway, no question... would be interesting to see some real crash-statistics from those Euro5 sewing-machines... they are dangerously silent
Great video! Im in love with this bike.. But some say's the shifter is not really good.. Some issues about the neutral, engine turn off when gear up or down.. I really want to buy this bike but I dont know if this choice will be good. Have you some advice for me? Thank!
The Quickshifter is not very good at low revs. When riding sporty it is working very well. This bike is only for you if you want to ride fast most of the time. For commuting or touring I would choose more comfortable alternatives.
Having ridden now 4000km with this bike I can say the shifter is one of the best I have tried. No other issues either. This bike really comes alive when you take it to the track so if you only do touring and city riding it’s not for you.
if you want something that is actually sporty get triumph if you want a very comfotroable " sport bike" get the yamaha they are worlds apart in handeling.
I’m in a big indecision about what to buy next. The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 or this Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS…different engines but same purpose. I know now that you have ridden both. Can you express your personal opinion about them? Thanks 🙏🏼
@@Schaaf I see what you mean 😉The Triumph wakes up on high revs. And Yamaha has a more linear delivery of power from down all over the course of the rev range. Am I right?
