Fun fact, Gundogan's salary for the next two years would've been €35m. The transfer fee alone for Olmo was €55, plus whatever his salary is 🤦‍♀️
@glr4764
@glr4764 19 дней назад
Gundogan is also going to be 34 in 2 months; if you amortize the costs over the next say 5 years you could argue the move for Olmo now saves them money than paying Gundogan for 2 more years and buying someone else after 2 years maybe for just as much money but not as good. Provided Olmo works out doing this now than later is better for them financially and form a team building perspective. The issue of having to replace Gundogan after 2 more reasons at most if not after just 1 more season is going to be an issue either way. Barca really wanted either Nico Williams or Olmo after the Euros win and since Nico decided to stay at Athletic for at least one more year they doubled down on Olmo.

To add to the absurdity, during today's Barca game one of the ads on LEDs around the pitch advertised Cupra Leon as, among names of actual Barcelona players, "Gundogan's new car", hours after he played for City against Impswich

Barças youth is good enough to at least get them Europa league football. If they just took the hit and bought nobody, other than maybe loans and free transfers, for what, 2 or 3 seasons? They’d be completely fine financially by now. In what world did they need Lewandowski, and Vitor Roque? Roque clearly isn’t going to play ahead of Lewa, so the profit he may potentially generate will always be limited. And players like Frenkie De Jong, are on 600K a week. I’m not Frenkie De Jong, but i’m sure they didn’t need to offer that much money in order to convince him to join one of if not the biggest clubs on the planet, from the eredivise. Whoever is in charge of their finances needs to get sacked
@spidermarcel
@spidermarcel 19 дней назад
Last season they did just that(with the sole exception of Roque in the winter market ) Dejong wague is that high because of: 1. salaries were high in general during Bartomeu's presidency 2.his initial salary got inflated because barça had to outbid PSG who also wanted him 3.Due to COVID related crisis,Bartomeu agreed with DeJong(and other players,like Pique or Lenglet)to differ a part of his salary so he gets paid later, essentially fucking over whoever presided Barcelona after him

@refkiriswansyah2830
@refkiriswansyah2830 19 дней назад
You keep asking how MCity get away with it but NEVER look for the answer. Answer 1, money. 2, Good planning on how to use that money. Thats it. Plenty of team has money, Newcastle even has more, MU spend more, Heck, Chelsea even spend more in a single season....but they have *ss planning & most have almost no patient. Sheikh Mansour bought the team in 2000s, but in the middle of strong 9/11 impact & crazy high antiarab islamophobia making them extreme hate target. Nobody want to watch them, nobody want to admit supporting them, they always ridiculed as fake club with only money and no achievement for years. Even with any legitimate measure they are the REAL manchaster club with some of the most loyal fans that stay even when they get relegated. And they still get ridiculed as noisy neighbors by the bandwagooners that ride the SAF achievement without any prior investment & support before social media & marketing craze. But they still keep being patient. Building the team, infrastructure, organisation, etc....not making emotional decision, believing the process, keep getting better each years, not quick to fire people based on immediate result, but evaluating the performance & fit for longterm target. Thats why most of their transfer is almost always on point. What they need and will need is priritized rather than the hype. If theres something they want, they will take it whatever the price, because they have the ability to do that, but they also dont abuse it. Only buy if theres actual need to buy & keep trying to get better every single time. And now its paying off...you still ask about how they did it?
@Padbot1
@Padbot1 19 дней назад
It's not their money. You could put that money into Accrington Stanley and they'd prosper. They've made tons of bad transfers.
@simplesimonhadapie
@simplesimonhadapie 19 дней назад
or you look at their turnover being artificially doped by companies linked to the state who owns them allowing them to pay enormous wages and take players on free/cheaper deals. Haaland for his release fee was something many teams wanted but city have pep (who's brother owns part of girona as part of the deal to get him there not dodgy at all) who he wanted to play under so he went there for wages only 2 teams can match and one of them wanted mbappe instead. Madrid have been as succesful for the same reason except they don't have the financial doping city have enjoyed. The entire city process has been get guardiola (they literalyl imported all his mates from barca) and when he goes it is much more likely city go back to the mancini era of the odd title win. The saudis aren't able within the rules to dope themselves in such a way and its why city and them oppose the new rules tightening who can offer them money.
@rannynihilius8481
@rannynihilius8481 18 дней назад
City just like Red Bull stretch the rules to their liking in world football. The FA's case that's starting against them in January has 115 different reasons that aren't islamophobia to why their wave of success should be seen with a skeptic eye. Paying staff more than stated, being basically sponsored by themselves with Etihad to walk another thin line with dubious money sources, overpaying youngsters more than legally allowed and the entire City Football group just like the RB clubs being used as legal loopholes to get players for basically free as the money never leaves the owner's hands are some in my opinion rather good arguments to not give City any flowers. What they are doing ever since Pep came from a normal club perspective is amazing, especially with their academy and on point squad depth but that doesn't erase the Saudi owners questionable at best headstart that they gained through bending the rules if the FA wins in court is also legally just plain cheating. There have been no consequences for plain sight FFP violations for the last few years while smaller teams always got punished with rapid speed, meaning the 115 charges must be a lot larger than those rule breakings.
