I think the hats are a metaphor for when the ladies are no longer a major part of Marvin’s life. You can especially see in the bootleg during A Breakfast Over Sugar, Sweetheart puts a hat on Trina at the end of the song. Idk if it’s true or not, but it makes a little sense
To me it feels symbolic of when these women kind of stop being people and start being just females if that make sense. In like the sense of dehumanization and objectification. Like not that’s there’s anything inherently wrong with being a housewife but with Trinna for example she’s been kinda used and eventually discarded by Marvin as his wife. With Ms Goldberg it could additionally be in reference to her imminent marriage (next winter I’ll marry) but it’s likely more how Marvin uses her (the rape of Ms Goldberg). Idk!! Speculation all of it!!
Wow I'm so glad there are so many comments repeating the same, unoriginal joke, that is absolutely hilarious - have you all considered a career in comedy?
I heard the hat they're singing about is metaphor for getting married, but that doesn't seem to make sense either since this isn't being sung by Trina.
@@robobowie68 I think Martin wants to be attracted to Miss Goldberg because she’s the perfect form of “womanhood” in his eyes. He tries to make himself feel feelings for her (The R*** Of Miss Goldberg). She’s not fond of him.
attention in trousers fans: i need in trousers friends and it's virtually impossible to find them out in the wild so if you need someone to freak out about it with pls reply to this comment
@@gayperson Oh big same. I go through different phases listening to different musicals but Marvin is always lingering in the shadows 😂 I could literally perform this entire musical start to finish 3 times in a row without missing a beat. Being neurodivergent is awesome sometimes 😂
I know no one's probably going to be commenting now but at 1:31 what does the highschool sweetheart sing. I know she's there but I can't make out what she's singing
