When prompted, most people give *A* hot take, not their own hot take. Rather than giving a controversial opinion that they genuinely stand behind for the sake of sparking a conversation, they just engineer the most annoying statement possible to annoy as many people as possible. I haven't even watched this video yet, but I'd be willing to bet money that half of the """Hot takes""" people give will just be the usual "One Piece bad, AoT bad, SaO good actually" mixed with the occasional lack of media literacy or "This show I've never seen is mid." It's basically Twitter engagement bait without the twitter or the engagement.

Hot takes are just things said that are against 'popular consensus'. Any statement can be hot take if most people don't agree with it. Objectivity doesn't matter.

nah the character development in that manga/cartoon is nonexistent but if they say that s2 of jjk is mid they are smoking penises man. s2 of jjk is the best animated fighting anime ever. every fight done differently, dozens of references throughout the season, sukuna's fights are just the best fights in anime ever and the flashback episodes were insane. i dont even like shounen and fighting based anime but damn jjk s2 is as good as it gets. (s1 and the movie were just good at best, 7/10)

​@etzstyy6301 a lot of the times its not a chore but if you have to power through it and the show is often regarded as one of the best shows in its genre, then you probably arent the exact target audience. for example when people say that you need to power through the first 10 episodes of steins gate, when in my eyes the first 10 episodes were very entertaining and ended up making a lot of sense later on as well.

I don't think you watched the whole clip. He said DITF was better than the original series of EVA "only". And there's probably a case for that since original EVA's ending is so bonkers. A series with a coherent ending is debatably better than a series without one.

I agree with this! But I also like the filler arcs along with the filler eps because as you said most anime do a bad job at making them and when they do it’s really great execution and thus provide a lot of subtle info and details that allows me to be immersed in the anime I am watching (personal take lol)

I think filler episodes are inherently episodes where that doesn't happen. Sure, most people use the definition of "not in the manga = filler", but personally, and I think a lot of people agree, if it's not strictly defined in the manga, that if any character progression or meaningful development happens so that you feel more connected to a character than you would otherwise, then it's not filler. If you can't skip it and get pretty much the same gist and connection to the characters, it's not filler. This is conceptually true because that was the point of filler episodes, to stretch out the series without anything of value happening within them so that it still matches the actual next episode. Can't have the character not acknowledge a filler episode if something meaningful happened. Some people use the filler term to trash talk slow episodes, but they're just using the wrong term, since they wouldn't be filler episodes. This is exemplified in shows like Steven Universe, where some world building episodes are called filler by some people, but they just aren't. And some episodes CAN be treated as filler because it's a plot of characters that never show up again in any important manner, and the world feels the same without them. So in short, I think you're describing non-filler episodes when you describe good filler episodes. Can episodes not in the manga technically be not-filler? If they executed it better and built characters better than the manga did, then yeah. It's called an improvement, one of the benefits of adapting to a new media. It's not filler if it's filling in with purpose.

@@Star14Light Personally, whether or not I like filler arcs depends on the show. If a show has set an expectation of being plot-heavy then I'm going to be against filler arcs- y'know? However, if a show promotes itself as slice-of-life then I'm more open to a filler arc. That said, I also want to see build-up have a pay-off. Filler arcs often lend themselves to less pay-off than I'd like: too many loose ends to tie and keep track of.

As a guy who's currently reading fate vn and also watched the anime as i complete one route i would say vn is just better it carries more weight in shirou's actions and takes his character to whole another level with inner monologues

naruto is the best out of the big 3. the world is so seamless, everything just works and makes sense, everyone fights differently and the choreography is fantastic and the plot is good enough, the characters are fantastic as well. one piece suffers from horrible pacing (im caught up), imo horrible character design in a sense that most characters just dont fit in and half of the scenes from the show look like its a toy story scene with all the random colorful creatures. also the fights in the show are horrendous. luffy and kaido/katakuri did nkt need to be that long lmao, they all jist repeated the same 5 moves. hopefully witt remake fixes these things because then op will sit clearly at the top and i would have no issue calling it the greatest anime ever bleach is just dbz but a little better but still not that great. one piece has the best world building and probably better characters than naruto but as a qhole and especially as a fighting anime, naruto is much better than op.
