Befriending unbelievers is one sign that a Muslim is bound for Hell. Quran (3:28) - "Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them..." This last part means that a faithful Muslim is allowed to feign friendship if it is of benefit. Renowned scholar Ibn Kathir states that "believers are allowed to show friendship outwardly, but never inwardly." I was raised in America. I moved to Asia and met a Muslim family from Saudi Arabia. I was their daughters English teacher. Their family was the most generous and caring family in the whole school. And they were genuinely happy to help anyone. Nobody else in the school was Muslim but they treated us like family. It went against all the propaganda I ever heard about Islam growing up in the 90s /2000s. Very eye opening.

I tell people that the truth is that there are people who exploit Islam, just like any religion to perpetrate evil. It doesn’t necessarily mean Islam teaches all these negativity the media projects. I do not know why the West has a problem with Islam and Muslims, but this is the true Muslim morals. Helping in Islam is your duty and not a choice, especially saving someone’s life. People’s lives must be saved because the soul is very dear to Allah.
People can misinterpreted Islam, because they don't follow the true teachings of Allah and the last of his prophets. Islam is perfect but people are not. May Allah guide us to the straight path, may Allah gives anything you need and want in this life and the hereafter.
