🍜🍣Huge thanks to Tabelog for helping us shoot in so many spectacular locations! Discover Japan's top restaurants at: s.tabelog.com/en/?cid=inbound_promo_youtube_aij My god, this video should've been called "I ate 1,000,000 calories in a week". Still, you can't beat a fine meal in the company of good friends. Thanks to the amazing friends who joined us in this episode; Sharla, Connor, Pete, Natsuki, Alex and dare I say Ryotaro. But of the 12 restaurants which one do you want to try the most? Let us know down below!
Chris is always living the good life. Can't wait for your other wacky weekend soon with Connor. Hope you visit more areas in Western Japan to discover more underrated places with the others.
It is actually a good strategy to film during summer and to publish more in autumn/winter where people tend to be more inside. Depends on where his viewer come from of course.
I came to Abroad in Japan for travel tips at first, but ended up staying for Chris, Connor, Ryotaro, Natsuki, and Pete. With Top Gear/Grand Tour in the rearview mirror, this is the only show I watch just to hang out w these lads.
Honestly, I didn’t even realize this video was an hour long until I started reading the comments (right when they went to eat sushi). That just shows you how good Chris is at creating entertaining long format content! Not to mention the top notch quality of his videos! Can‘t wait to hopefully try the food at at least one of these restaurants when I finally make it to Japan 🤞🏼
GOOD HEAVENSl Sir Chris Mr Affable Abroad in Japan, Sunday Times best seller, old mate of King Charles and the Emperor of Japan, and Daimyo of Ozu - is really spoiling us peasants recently! Another video just a few days after the previous, and an hour long one no less!
Looks like the best places being "3 star average" in Japan is a true thing! Definitely need to check these out next time I visit. Awesome recommendations Chris!
this video is really well done, not only technically but also the way Chris found how to thread the story telling with each person making them coprotagonist in their one segments of the 12 (and someone even more than one)👍👏
Abroad In Japan is probably one of the best channels on RU-vid in terms of TV like video production. Some people spend millions on content and don't even come close.
When it comes to Japan comfort food, gyusuuji nikomi is a must-try! 🍲✨ Tender beef tendons in savory broth are perfect for warming you up as we enter autumn and winter. A simple, satisfying hug for the soul! ❤
with the pork place, and the pieces were on the metal mesh.. never have I ever seen a video where that's a thing. it shows they appreciate the temps and textures of what they're presenting so much, they won't allow it to over heat, or get soggy. as someone who loves pork, the idea of a specialized spot where you can try every variable.. fn amazing! I've never seen this with pork outside of US BBQ, and even still, it's not like that at all maybe my favorite of all Japanese restaurant bits, of any video I've watched over the years
There is simply nothing finer than witnessing benevolent britfarts indulging themselves with abandon for the span of an entire hour. In truth, such splendidly unrestrained entertainment might be the very pinnacle of delight this world has to offer! Thank you Chris.
Probably one of my favorite videos you've posted yet! It was informal yet such a joy to watch as I eat my measly leftovers from days past. Hat's off to you, Mr. Affable
Natsuki really lucked out with that chance encounter with Chris that night on the streets of Yamagata all those years ago. I recognize that his quirky personality is a major factor, but wow, could anyone predict that a random hairdresser in rural Honshu could ever become world famous?
Really excellent video, both very informative and enjoyable to watch. The different shots, image quality, and editing were truly a step above past uploads. Very much agree that Tabelog is a great resource that I had provided my uncle who recently moved to Tokyo as a pilot, meaning he understands zero Japanese and neither has the time to learn to explore much.
I've been using tabelog for the past 2 years on every trip and I can't recommend it enough. I got to eat in so many restos I never would've considered.
I love these long-format 1-hours videos! I feel like it goes well with your type of content -- often, I'm left wanting for more with your more frequent shorter ones.
Chris, everytime I view one of your episodes that features dining at increadible places from intimate little out of the way places to high end restaurants, I end up snacking and munching on food. You are a bad influence on a poor guy's diet. Thank you for being a hero to dieters everywhere!
Love this style of video! The interviews, to me, are what make the video. However, I can imagine it takes a lot of planning and communication to get the restaurants onboard. Gonna put this in the back pocket for the next time I visit! Thank you.
wow, I truly wasn't expecting a 1 hour long video to crawl out of nothing after that 1,5 hour long Cdawg collab video in such a short timespan :D, can't wait to watch the whole!
As I become older, my love for grilled unagi has increased so much! It is lately my favorite Japanese food, I'm lucky to have a very good restaurant in my city that serves a great one, as good as the ones you can find in Japan ❤
Had sukiyaki at a restaurant in Shinjuku that was simply called Udon, and... it was 20,000Y per meal, or about £100 and was by FAR the best meal i had all holiday. 2 weeks of all sorts and i still remember that meal.
You know Chris, I must admit, your food video is one of my favourite content that you make. Although It may not have deep narrative like a documentary, it's still a comfort content for me. I always watch them fully, so I'm glad you made a 1 hour videos on foods alone :)
It would be really cool too if you could feature Vegetarian options as well. Super curious, since most countries have a lot of delicious meat dishes, but harder to find those highly rated restaurants that have well loved vegetarian dishes. I know ramen has those options though haha
Wow, I had no clue sukiyaki was so special - it was the first meal I ever had in Japan because there was a sukiyaki place opposite our hotel! So good 🤤 (also, can't believe I'm only one fifth into the video! What a treat!)
Truthfully, the best food I ever had in my trip to Japan was some random local restaraunt near a random station in Yokohama. They didn't know any english, probably had never had a foreign customer but it was the best and most authentic food we had, plus they were incredibly friendly. Sadly forgotten the name of it though
A feature-length video of Chris stuffing himself with all the food in the orient? Excellent. This is the exact kind of quality content I subscribed for.
When I opened this I really thought this was going to be a compilation of Chris' favourite places from the last few years. But he wouldn't do us like that. Great content, nice relaxing video with all the best guests.
Chris inspired me to visit japan At least once in my life time, for now I'm broke guy who just finished my studies, but I'll save as much as I i can and visit Japan.
1/3 of the way in, I was like... Wow. This is great, but I don't think I'm gonna get through 57 food segments in one bite. Welp, just finished it. Wonderful. I'm sure that Chris thinks that Japanese food videos are an easy layup and he secretly thinks he's above them (lol). So we get this. Exquisite! I'm most happy seeing that eel gets the attention it deserves. It's always been my favorite dish. I learned a lot from watching those segments and now I have a few new places for the dream list! Cheers.
The title of this is hilarious, i can imagine folk saying "Mr. Broad you gotta stop eating everything in tokyo... you cant eat that, it's a traffic light"
I did not realize this master piece is 1hr long.Started this video at 3am and 46 minutes later I thought to myself , how long is this video ? Great video man . Gonna visit there some day!!!!!
For me the sushi, soba and unagi had me salivating. I am coming to Japan for the first time in november and would love to try all of these. I am sure they are all super expensive and I am already too late for the waiting list. Thanks again for another great video.
Chris, bro you rock man. I love your content, I will be watching everything you make until the day you stop (which I hope is never). I just enjoy it all so much!
Unagi, yakitori skewers and okonomiyaki are my absolute favorite dishes in Japan! I wanna do shabu shabu next year when me and my soon to be wife go on our 2 week honeymoon in japan. Cant wait!! 😊
Lard is healthy. Food is delicious when fried in it. Japan is the most delicious country in the world. Japanese chefs have beaten chefs in Italy and France. Excellent video, Chris Abroad. Nice to see your friends in one video. Who else wants to try all of the restaurants?
Wow what a selection. I think Tonkatsu and Unagi is my favourite. I'm saving this video so I can remember the link and know what to book for next time.
