@@ThaCataBoi Abuse his girlfriend and not even try defend himself. Well, he did, but if a single card was more valid evidence than witnesses who know both people involved and their relationship very well then... I don't even know.
the locals watching mario perform a complicated ritual involving hopping with ridiculous precision so he can walk into a whale from the back entrance: (twice, now):
If I remember correctly, there’s an ever worse glitch that can be done than that doll bullshit, badge duplication, which comes with the added bonus of being completely useless as badges work differently in pm64 meaning while yes you can duplicate the badge, when you go to wear it, the original and the copy are worn at the same time with no extra cost or benefit
If I remember right, it's basically just retrigger prolog with more work on either side, mostly on the later end with the near endless letter chain. Been a while since I've watched the explanation video. So I could be wrong but that's what I remember.
Press A! discovers that just because a game is broken doesn't mean it's easy to break. Knowing of these glitches already made this hilarious, you know the torment that is coming
I've been getting into speedrun history videos recently and my favorite thing about the scene is how many parallels to old shonen battle anime there are. You have rivalries, you have drama, you have mentor figures that support newcomers until they finally overcome them, you have outlandish names for glitches that are akin to special attack names, which you also have to do to such precision that there's assertions of "it took me 3 months to master this". And then you have a climax that isn't even the end, in which you smash a bad guy by flying 1000 steps into the air and crashing down on him. Real Goku vs Frieza energy right there.
The comedy between "Hell Isn't So Bad" and "Oh God It's That Bad! It's That Bad" made me laugh so hard. The distorted music also sold the descent into madness.
I know that this doesn't qualify for the speedrun leaderboards due to the usage of a practice ROM (and the likelihood that you didn't do this all in one go) but seeing someone who isn't half machine perform most of the tricks required for this without assistance and explain how difficult they are is honestly amazing. It's one thing to watch someone at GDQ do this sort of stuff and then casually say "That's actually really difficult" after 2 attempts, but watching someone who's probably about as good at performing these tricks as I am do it really emphasizes exactly how difficult these can be. By the way, there are actually 9 people who are on the leaderboard for Reverse All Cards, but one of those clears is on Wii VC and one is on Wii U VC.
This reminds me of a challenge me and a couple friends did back in elementary school. Since you can get anywhere in the map with tweaking in diamond & pearl, i thought one day "hey, what if we all had a race and we have to beat the gyms backwards" it was like 2 days after the legend of our group taught us all how to tweak. The rules were simple, you couldn't do more than 1 gym a day, because the next day at recess you had to show the badge (to prevent people doing it more like 6 then 7 then 8. Instead of 8 then 7 then 6) and whoever finished that then beat the champion got to erase everyone else's save file. I was dead last because i didn't know how to navigate in tweak land, all i accomplished that whole school year was learning that there is a girl in a cave somewhere that double battles with a Kadabra (later found out it was in the cave on cycling route)
You know whats funny, sticker star technically has a route that DOES lead you to beating every boss backwards... its just not a full backwards beating order because you basically have to beat world 1 normally up untill the boss fortress
100%, if my run was legit all all (spoiler it wasn’t) then it would have clocked in at over 30 hrs. I think the world record for this category is like 2 hr 30 min lol
your confidence in the ability to perform speedrunning glitches is admirable. I was playing the game and tried the lakilester clip to get into the oink pen so I could get more items without them running away. tried for 5 minutes and it didn't work. no idea what I was doing wrong so I gave up lol
I'd give this a 10.5/10 It's not impossible, but the sanity drain gets it an additional cost. This is like the "Complete FNAF: Security Breach Backwards" challenge, except somehow much worse. Impressive that you managed to pull it off, shows that you have both the drive and the skill needed to pull it off.
Games never really do change all that much do they... Like yeah the engines and equipment get upgraded all the time but devs are still just expected to cram as much content as they can into a final product. I guess I've been told as a dev myself that there's only so much we can do, but scope is where a lot of these modern games are failing. Not work ethic or passion really, just gargantuan expectations set by a bunch of out-of-touch people sitting in a board room who tell you what the design is gonna be and you have to fit that in the time you have or your job is at risk. Not every game IMO has to be an open world, 3D, fully animated HD in-depth narrative-heavy action RPG. Like pick a lane and it becomes a lot more polished. I guess some entitled people who expect that bar of samey versatility will be pissed at you, but they can stay mad when the game is well-liked despite the little details they harp on. Like I wish people were more focused on genre pieces and not a variety pack. But that's just my thoughts on why games are coming out unpolished, with some that are still good despite that. Feels like the best modern games focus on doing a few things well, not everything.
My major question is… how did people figure all these glitches out? TAS? Time? These frame perfect glitches and such are absolutely insane. Kudos to you for this video.
Most people play games to experience the game and story and then there's people like me who play the game to try and break it anyway possible. Personally i remember finding out the perfect repair/unlimited caps from shops glitch in Fallout 3 a few days after it's release. One thing to remember is there can be endless glitches in games and not all of them found not everyone reports their findings, some just treat it like an easter egg, other get well known for doing it, nothing wrong with either option.
@@Darkness5423One of my favorite moments is when someone casually performs a glitch they assume everyone knows about, and speedrunners just go "YOU KNEW THIS THE WHOLE TIME!?"
I like the longer videos. I know they are probably harder to make than it’s worse but I find videos like this oddly soothing and use ‘em to sleep (don’t get the idea that they’re boring because of this because this might be the most interesting paper Mario video I’ve ever seen), I remember trying to sleep to your Pikmin videos (only yellows, etc) but they were just too short. Don’t view that as a complaint please, even though I didn’t sleep to the Pikmin videos I found them really cool, and you don’t make these videos so people can sleep to them. I forgot what my point was because my brain is convinced I’m a cartoon old man. Uh, I really enjoy your videos and your channel is underrated
I remember I spent two hours trying to do log skip and then realized it wasn't working because the notches on my gamecube controller were messed up, truly the experience ever
This video made laugh so much bc I would have quit min 3 lol like. Auth note. "3 months to learn" it's been a min since I laughed that hard. Plus then staring at the blue house wall. Omg im dying. You are great I respect you so much. I found this channel today. Like subbed and ganna watch all your videos be safe and thank u for this amazing entertainment!!
Well too bad, he was an abuser, and got what he deserved. (Side note: I would share the specifics, but since the comments I posted describing what happened got deleted for some reason, I would search for the post What Happened to Stryder7x, made in 28 Nov 2022, which has links showing his response, and then his ex's response to his flimsy defence).
Okay, yeah, that definitely deserves a sub. Congratulations on 30k! I hope you can fully recuperate and still live a mostly normal life after these events!
The trick for getting the Odd Key early is just to face away from the wall, spin, then while spinning hold left and hammer. The game doesn't take the direction change into account when hammering, so the hammer just goes through the wall. You can see that it doesn't update the facing direction by doing the trick the opposite way; face the wall, spin, then hold right while spinning and hammer. You'll end up hammering... the... air. Yeah, that checks out.
I’ve had this challenge run in mind for a game that is adjacent to this. It’s totally impractical and unnecessary and isn’t necessarily a challenge run like a nuzlocke or no damage, but makes the game entirely stupid and different. I didn’t think it was a good idea, and quit after ~115 hours sunk in. Now you’ve convinced me it isn’t a good idea. But it’ll all be worth it. (Fantastic video. Obvious that you’re taking the spirit of the challenge even if you’re missing the full authenticity. Great work!)
I had to salute at the ease with which you got the Japanese Raphael skip compared to the hours you would have spent trying to climb the tree. Definitely worth the reset, and hey, at least the second time around you had a better idea of what you were doing with all those other skips beforehand too :)
I've done a lot of these tricks casually on my cartridge as well as on the Wii U VC version. My God did they take hours! Tree Hop gave me PTSD. There's also a potential to soft lock your game if you mess up that skip.
12:50 face away from where you want to hammer, spin, hold towards where you want to hit, and hammer. The game does the collision checks for where the hammer will hit something, telling it when to stop Mario's swing. But then you face the other direction. So it checks, finds nothing, which means a full swing, and then you turn around and do that full swing, right through the wall. (You can do it the other way, and have his hammer collide with thin air)
Dude you know what your pride may be hurt but you're still someone who did something of 1 in a billion literally so congratulations you definitly deserve a rest after this crap
1:00:25 Small point, but I think it's actually because of something you _don't_ have. Goompa is supposed to be with you for that sequence, and there's a cutscene with him when you open the gate. When you don't have him as you open the gate, I can see the game crashing. Then again, this is all just conjecture.
AND! THEN! Lol nice video man. I remember playing this game a lot but never got passed the second chapter as I was a dumb kid. Makes me wanna play it again and finally beat it :)
It's cool to see you do something this hard (even if you couldn't really do it). Another game you can do this in is OoT, if you're interested. I don't think it's this tough (a very high bar to clear to be fair).
Great video, but I can't help but make a correction. You called Sushie "he" multiple times but she's actually female. In fact, if you read her mail in the post office, you'll learn that not only is she a mother, but will soon be a grandmother as well because her daughter (named Sashimie) is currently expecting.
StryderX has made me love Paper Mario 64 more than any other in the paper mario series The wild glitches and strategies are so fascinating to me it's insane to me how far speedrunners go just to beat this game
At the end when i saw retrigger prolog come in i knew what he was in for. I though whale early was thr hardest part but nope, retrigger prolog is arguably the hardest glitch in this game.
Hey, awesome that you are covering paper mario, great video, will you do something about other gamecube games (pikmin and paper youve done) for example donkey kong or Mario kart?
Stryder7x was an abusive idiot, who deservedly lost everything. The evidence given against him for his crimes was much more compelling than his nonsensical defence, which was also countered by the one he hurt. No one needs his pride.
@@tibby4503 Stryder7x was an abusive idiot who lost everything as he deserved. The evidence against him was much stronger than his lacklustre defence, and said defence ended up being completely destroyed by the one he hurt. No one needs the pride of an abusive asshole.
13:00 This trick is actually pretty easy (it's the only one I know how to do properly and consistently lol) You position yourself next to the place where the key is, face the yellow house (look to the right) and press Z to spin in place. While Mario is spinning, hold left and spam the hammer button to cancel the spin and the hammer should clip through the wall.
