I bought 4 broken YLOD PS3s to see if I can fix them (part 3) 

Don't worry too much about the mistakes, I have ruined too many boards myself due to having less than perfect equipment. And about getting every tool necessary - it can be difficult to remember every part of the process because we all have other responsibilities and priorities in life. I love your editing style also, must take a lot of time. But take it easy and remember to take breaks.

My man, to go where no or few men have gone before. Buying all the equipment and doing this, you have guts . I’m experienced in soldering but have limited experience on this very small fine connection on the ps3. You give hope to other DIYers

I took apart a phat 65nm console for my first practice delid and broke it because I rushed and didn’t have all the right equipment, for that same reason I will never attempt a Frankenstein console. Also it’s pretty spendy and I also don’t have the time to invest into learning bag rework as my wife and I have 2 adopted kids and one biological one with hopefully more on the way. I am comfortable soldering, performing a delid, and changing syscon values. If my console ever dies I’m finding someone to fix my console and make it a Frankie.

Man, i understand your pain... the only thing that help-me to make a frankie was the community and my BGA station.. is not cheap but man... worth every cent! ehehehhe

Lol. Yeahhh, never press down on your chips. You'll definitely merge balls and create all kinds of short circuits. 😅

It seems you have changed fan speeds but it is worth mentioning that when a reflow works, it won't forever unless the temperatures are maintained below 70C, so the underfill doesn't soften too much and cause errors again. Either that or changing to a fixed RSX.

7:23 Actually, No. The syscon doesn't save the power-on time when the system was incorrectly shutdown (I learned this the hard way 😢) . In this case the console have 1156 incorrect shutdowns so it probably have around 60-80 days of usage. The only way to know how much it was used exactly is to connect the hdd to PC but unfortunately many consoles have their hdds replaced so the time shown by the hdd will be incorrect too.

I watched all of your videos i consol with YLOD and i learn from you others (in first time of working with syscon i get the error code 3034 same as yours and then i get new error code error code 3004 😅 like you and im waiting to see the End of This

I was able to revive one of my PS3 by changing the tokens the other 1 changed the tokens but still yellow light of deathank you for the videos need to get more His information and tools to try again

Console #1's symptoms match exactly with the two boards I attempted frankenstein mods on. I messed up soldering the GPU back on and the chip sank down flat onto the board. They get 093004 errors instantly now. Definitely a short

I set the t-8280 preheater temperature to 350. Once it reaches that temperature the board temperature should be about 150. Yep, nearly 200 degrees temperature difference. The RSX IHS should be removed before attempting desoldering it. That thick shield will redirect all the heat to the integrated memories causing solder to burst killing the chip in the process. You can remove the IHS using ipa and a very thin metal sheet like the one used in smartphones display repair.

You're lucky to be living in Japan because the ps3s seem to be cheaper than in Europe and USA especially faulty ones.

I see the oven you have is just a normal electric oven, do you have any concerns about safety as its probably not rated to heat for this long, has their been any issues?

how did you extact the ps home data? I'm still hesitant on updating the fw on a ylod ps3 I fixed it was last used in 2013 ofw 4.46 I think
