I see all kinds of cars in all kinds of condition and never saw a car with that mileage and condition. The time I saw an Avalon that looked this clean with 205k I bought it for my mom. 4 years later it had 234k and was still clean but not paint wise before we sold it
Fair point. On the other hand I could buy 3 Kia Rios drive each one 150,000 miles, toss a new engine in them, resell them and still spend about $32,000 less than that car was new....enough to buy 2 more Kia Rios. I'm not knocking Tesla's, they are amazing pieces of technology. But your comment needed some context.
@theory816 this car has unlimited mileage warranty. And for 335k miles, the money well spent. Gas car with similar performance would cost more to operate for that many miles.
@@MrAdoh2010 I had a 2002 Avalon with just shy of 300k but a kid hit me hard in the side. Insurance gave me 6k. Sold the car back to me for $400. I pulled the dent from fender stuck in the rear tide and drove it 2 more yeats.
How about bringing it to an EV specialist garage (like the electrified garage) and a non-ev garage (car wizard) ? Having both points of view would be interesting
@@marcj3757 Yessir! Picked up a awesome tan metallic 2016 model X/ 90D/ 6 seater in 3/?/20. 65k miles for about $58 before all those taxes & fees. She been great to me since. Best part 4 me was using TSLA profits to pay down 80% of total price. Anyway....I'm saying more than u asked. Yes, I bought my dream car. Now I have my eyes on the Cybertruck!
@@n.a.p.j6633 Sweet! I appreciate all the info, I was debating on getting a new Y or a used X (which I'd rather buy) but didn't know how they hold up. What was your warranty package? And Tesla profits? Stocks?
@@marcj3757 Yes...TSLA profits from stock sale ($40k down payment to reduce my monthly notes). If I was in the market now, I would be going for the 2023 Model Y, can't beat $20k discount with those two current incentives! As for my warranty, I got this on a used 2016 X : * 2 years/ 50k mi for BASIC VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY * 4 years/ 100k mi for BATTERY LIMITED WARRANTY * 4 years/ 100k mi for DRIVE UNIT LIMITED WARRANTY I'm currently at 130k miles doing rideshare, so I'm going out of all warranties by mid 2023 I think.
Any issues with other major drivetrain components? Specifically the drive motors? Is the acceleration still smooth, no drag on coast, braking/regen working ok and smooth? What about the climate control blowers and heating/cooling, still working ok with no weird sounds? Wiper motors still holding up? I think I’m mostly curious about the wheel assemblies, like it seems that would be where the most wear could be in an electric. Anything shaking, etc? I think this will make an awesome series because the fact the car has 400k with only the battery swap is very impressive compared to an ICE. I mean you expect it, but to honestly see it is very convincing for EVs, especially Tesla. Great video thanks!
400k on any car is amazing. I'm more than a little impressed. I've got 160k on my ford and the Tesla looks better all around. However my Ford was only 18k brand new.
As a car dealer always at auctions I have never seen a Toyota or Honda with such mileage and such great mechanical and cosmetic condition. Tesloop has an excel spreadsheet btw for everything that went wrong and the costs for their high mileage Tesla lineup including this car. I can tell my 44k miles standard plus model 3 "the highest mileage on a standard plus" is gonna last forever. So far only the right upper control arm was making a squeaking noise and had to be replaced 2k miles ago. 232 miles of rated range still left.
@@WillProwse but if you pay for supercharging it would still work right? I hear people buying Teslas from third parties and not from Tesla getting either features removed or lock out of the super charging network, like you can't use the stations at all
I've been positing for a while now that because EV's have very few moving parts & it's being found that battery degradation, especially in liquid cooled battery packs, is nowhere as profound as was originally thought, overall, people will be far less likely to replace their cars every 3 to 5 years as with ICE ones; instead retaining ownership for 2, 3 or even 4 times longer before buying a new vehicle. I also think that although you, Fred, bought the X heavily discounted due to high mileage [which is a practice based on historical necessity] in the future I don't think that high mileage will have that much of a bearing on used vehicle prices. I think that they will largely be based on battery pack health instead & EV's will retain higher resale value in the used market. Could be wrong but that's my take on it.
Congrads! I guess, if anybody’s got the connections? You’re the perfect guy. What’s the highest mileage that’s we know of? Does tesla share that information?
Bonjour Fred.
That car looks fantastic for 400,000 miles. Just drive it for another 100K and tell us what fails. Great video content. What would have Tesla charged to replace the battery pack if it wasn't on warranty ? What is the standard warranty on a battery pack ?
Any idea why the battery pack was changed? My 2016 X90D (300.000km) has some serious issue with the range but my local service center doesn’t want to change it!
A P90D should get 270 when fresh and after 70k about 255 so if you are only getting 220 you should have Tesla run the numbers on battery degradation... Igor a rough idea just divide mileage by 4000 and you’ll be really close. Like 70k / 4K = 17.5 or 270 - 17.5 = 252.5 mile range. Tesla is looking for 80% and to replace a pack it’s gotta show less than 70% for their formula so let’s see: 252.5/270 is 93.5% and yours 220/270 is 81.5 so it’s low but “within Tesla standards” so at 189 miles full charge they’l replace that pack. In short your battery is weak but acceptable, keep an eye out and you may get a second one for free and they will give you a 100 pack 😎
Compare to my Tesla P85+ from 2014 and I’m getting 250 out of 265 so it’s getting 94% after 6 years and 70k miles which the Tesla Service Center said is great 👍🏼
I know you said you did 300 miles in a week, but how many miles do you anticipate doing annually? I've done 52,XXX miles in my 2019 Bolt, and will have had it a year in 2 weeks.
can you update the computer and the cellular antenna to get it working faster? Will they upgrade your battery to a higher-capacity battery? And how much would that cost. How much would it cost to replace or upgrade the motors? Is that even possible through third-party or EOM?
Fred does it still supercharge? If so, is it throttled? I can’t recall if Tesloop got banned from the SC network for breaching the terms of service (supercharging for commercial purposes)
H M He said it’s an early 2016 Model X which would only have HW1.0 (HW 2.0 not available until Oct 2016). So his wouldn’t have the cameras, sensors, wiring harness, MCU or ECU needed for FSD. Just this week Tesla provided upgrade path from MC1 to MC2 for $2500. But his ECU1.0 Model X can’t upgrade to HW3.0 because lacking cameras, etc. Even if it was technically possible it would cost $2500 MCU and $7000 to buy FSD. Plus another $10/month for premium connectivity to use all features. He would also lose all satellite radio, AM and even FM. Anybody who puts another $10,000 into car with over 400,000 miles just for FSD (that doesn’t really exist yet) needs to be locked up. Even though he saved a lot over a new vehicle he is in uncharted territory. When this thing starts to break down it’s gonna be a money pit of epic proportions
@@lupine617 yes I know it was replaced that's my concern by buying used. How much to buy a new one it's the heart of the vehicle if I ever buy a used one.
This was listed for sale at $40k just two weeks ago. There's no way he talked them down to $30,000. I think he's "rounding down," but great find either way! Enjoy!
@@MrAdoh2010 But now Fred will make videos about it and it will end up being an indirect commercial for Tesla. Tesla got the battery they replaced at 340,000 miles that is most important for validation I think.
LOL door dont degradate much because mileage, time is much bigger factor, and you are confusing a motor with an engine, motor runs for a long long time none stop(think a fridge motor can run 24 hours a day for 10year+ or 50 years old water pump that pumps to a water tower)
No way the pack drops quick under 50% like a laptop battery. First of all, the battery is STILL under warranty. Second thing is that problem happens in laptops because 1 cell gets too degraded and runs out bringing the pack voltage to unsafe levels. Tesla has a BMS that makes sure all cells degrade evenly. My verdict: You're full of shit.
This particular car has got a battery problem for sometime and Tesla is already replaced it under warranty. So, I think you probably sit in when the car still had a faulty battery.
In indonesia buy tesla model 3 price around 100.000usd-130.000usd.thats why tesla only for billionaires in here..lol for standart not the performance..
You're entitled to your opinion... The proof is in the puddin, and let's see what you think by the end of the story. I'm sure you've been wrong before..
I think you're thinking about the Model 3, which is the cheapest of Tesla's vehicles. A brand new Model X starts at about $85,000, and can easily go above $100,000 depending on trim level and options.
That's the line around the edges of the screen or something else? Because cabin overheat protection was rolled out to stop this problem when they showed up on model S. The 2014 loaner I got had the problem so it might have been introduced after 2016
@@Mr_Battlefield You know what, if you buy a used Tesla, you need to pay Tesla to register the car as your own, change the ownership of the car. Basically, if someone buying used Tesla car, Tesla Inc will get some money. I don't know how it cost, but probably 500 Just an example, A sell their car to B, B are paying to A for the car and Tesla to register it as theirs, then B sell their car to C, C are paying to B for the car and Tesla to register it as theirs. And so on... It's sketchy practice. Actually if you watch "Rich Rebuild" channel, there is an old video where someone reach out to Rich because their Tesla can't use supercharger just because they bought it from third party, or used one. About you can't modify your car. So, what about Truckla? It's a brand new car, but it got "modified" by third party. By Tesla rule, it can't use supercharger. For now, Truckla still can use supercharger. They keep it like that so the public opinion won't discredit them. If it unknown person, Tesla cut it immediately. I like Tesla, but if they keep doing this "Apple" thing, they eventually lose their global user. Android>iPhone PC>Mac
Clickbait central... guy can barely pronounce English words - that aside, from experience, issues will most likely crop up soon and thus repairs will make this vehicle not economical to own anymore, also the biggest issue is that it’s a (south) west coast / warm weather vehicle, develops very quickly a lot of issues in cold weather and high humidity climates that will cost you big time. Even brand new you might regret your decision very quickly to have leased / bought one. If Tesla would offer lifetime free “services repairs”, meaning they would not charge for any repairs and fix those immediately (3 days at most downtime) for any issues that develop during normal “wear and tear”, even then it would be a gamble, because the car might be more often in the shop than you driving it. But that’s why Elon owns an AI research biz, so that eventually repairs can be done in a fully automated (robotics) environment.
themax2go he’s from Montreal, Canada. Most french montrealers speak like him. This guy in the video is the biggest Tesla journalist in the world, Fred Lambert.
Oh wow I upset the Tesla fan girls & boys 🥳🤣 Seriously though, it’ll all be good once AI takes over. Maybe. For a little while at least, until it becomes intelligent enough to realize what a bunch of hypocrites they are by enslaving, torturing, raping and killing a select group of sentient beings not for survival but simply out of choosing ignorance to temporarily satisfy their insatiable cravings, while at the same time babying other animals. Can’t wait for AI to take over! 👍🏻👏🏻
