My dad had a '71 Cargostar,, looked much like this. Interior was ahead of its time...Nice! Rode like a Cadillac with a load on it, the 345 made it an absolute dream to drive!
I love these old trucks 40s ,50 s 60s 70s .Dodge, International ,White.1949 to 1985 deuce and half Army trucks m35.epesially when they fully renervated.
Be exciting to watch. I have almost the identical truck (1966 CO1700) in a very similar condition. I've been using a port-a-power pump to raise my cab. Can't wait to see more!
All you need is to find the hydraulic cylinder (under the cab towards the front bumper) and run a hydraulic line to a port-a-power pump and that worked for me!
Was the cabin in any way related to the Bedford K? It is strikingly similar in shape and dimensions - though, less stylised and with less glazed area forward of the B pillar. IH was very economical with cab designs - especially in Australia...they licenced their conventional A Line cab to Dodge for their AT4 / D5N, and the 1972 ACCO cabin formed the basis of several other lines, including the T & S Lines.

I think they had a 343 or something like that. 🧐 It actually sounds pretty good. How did you find this beauty? The frame is about the right lento install a pickup bed on it. Set it up with a little sleeper and flat bed for a gooseneck puller. Either way, it will make a nice little truck and conversation piece. Keep on truckin!
The hack job on that frame would scare me. Where they bolted on the additional steel panel to the frame might be rusted behind it. Still a very cool old truck. It would make a cool RV trailer hauler for a retiree who had time and money to fix it up. I could see it pulling an RV around the US on vacations.
If I had a place to keep it long term I would definitely have swapped the cab onto my 2003 24v Cummins. The cummins body is trash but the frame is perfect. Would have been a super cool project
Mine is a retired fire truck, water tank. We removed the pump and tank. Cut the sides down and rolled the edges to create a standard height pickup bed. Then we put a tread-plate floor & wheel wells. We then added a 5th wheel unit in order to pull our travel trailer. We went coast to coast and up and down the US. Top speed was 55, loaded or unloaded. We have a blast driving it. The amount of money that we have been offered, time and again is staggering. It is amazing what some will pay for the unusual.
