Around the time I started this channel and even before then, I've always loved early 2000's Pontiacs. Everything from the Firebird, the Bonneville, heck, even the Aztek. In today's video, I finally fulfilled that dream!

Please don’t drive this in the winter,it’s way too nice to ruin it with all the road salt

@@flameonhood Use Fluid Film, or else you'd be cleaning your car after every drive.

@@budgerigarer that shit fucks up your car worse than the rust. anything that is supposed to “seal” or “winterize” your car, is doing more harm than good. if you actually wanna prevent rust then yes, either clean it after every drive or park it over winter. and wether its summer or winter you’d want to clean you car every drive anways because of the paint. if you actually care about some rust then youd have to care about the paint too.
@budgerigarer

@@flameonhood I see people driving cars from the 80's, some earlier with no rust in the winter here in Canada and they always say they just use some kind of spray, usually fluid film.

My first car after high school 2007, I DEFINITELY took for granted, was a ‘97 GP GTP Supercharged sedan. It’s 2024 and just learned it needed PREMIUM GAS!! I didn’t know what I had and I think my dad was banking on it. With what I know now I really miss my Della. Great video my guy

Keep it stock and keep it mint :) They may never approach 60s/70s muscle value, but I have a feeling people will start appreciating the badass-ness of these types of car soon. For now, those who know what’s up, know what’s up 🤫

That's a really pristine example of a rare edition you have there. My 2001 GT is the same color, but with a tan interior. Something to seriously consider is to have the car oil-coated with something like the Krown or NH Oil rustproofing treatment, even if you don't intend to drive it in the winter. When I brought my Grand Prix, I didn't realize how vulnerable the rockers are on the W-body GM cars. The platform has been the same one from 1988-on. The rockers on mine are history, and it's only the ground effects pieces that hide the fact. I only paid $1700. for it eight years ago, so I can't complain.

I really want to swap the GTP engine into a Pontiac Trans Sport Dustbuster van. It would be fun to surprise people with that. Too bad it would be hard to find one that hasn’t been driven into the ground.

Beautiful car. I own a 2000 GTP up here in MI and I got mine from Florida because even 12 years ago when I bought it I couldn't find one that wasn't rusted out.

Any of the FWD "modern" era Grand Prixs are always a great buy if you're looking for a cheap daily or something of that nature. I believe they came out in 1990 and continued up until 2009 or so. Very reliable, cheap, and easy to work on. One of my friends had a 96 Grand Prix sedan that had over 300k miles on it and no engine or transmission issues. The rust finally ate the trailing arm mounts off, and he decided to not fix it and scrap it. These W-body grand prixs are also known to be very good demo derby cars as they have a very solid chassis.

I come from 60s muscle ownership back in the day, got my lic. in the mid 70s and bought muscle. I test drove one of these GPs with a supercharger when new, they drove nice but the V6 still provided no where near the Ooomph I was looking for in a performance car. I wasn't completely again satisfied in pure performance again until I purchased my current car being a 2017 Camaro Super Sport with 6 speed manual Trans. That Futha Mucker is pure performance and driving precision fun. Blows away anything from the 60s, though I still respect all those 60s muscle for doing what they did with without computers, supercharges, 3 and 4 speed gear boxes and bias ply tires. Add a modern transmission and modern tires to the old muscle cars and they would be even faster being closer to modern performance.

Very nice. I always liked this body style of the Grand Prix. I had a silver 03 GTP until the transmission gave way at just over 85K. So I got a GTO instead.

Beautiful car. I remember how I fell in love with its smaller brother - Grand Am, when I saw one of the Lethal Weapon parts and the chase scene. These cars were completely unknown in Europe. I envy you this beautifully maintained classic.

The spoiler was only on the Limited Edition. It was different than the one used on the Special Editions from 2000, 2001, and 2002. The Dual, Dual Exhaust is the same as the 2000, 2001, and 2002 Special Editions. The 2003 was a short model year, as the 2004 came out in March of 2003. Your car is missing the engine cover. The dealer removed it as part of a safety recall.. Enjoy your Grand Prix. I had two of them, and I regret selling my 2001. BTW I didn't see the heated seat control on the console in the left front area. Mine had a heated driver's seat, but no passenger's seat. I don't know why Pontiac did that. My currrent Bonneville has both front seats heated.

That's a good car/ survivor! Be glad it's got the naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 as that engine is even today one of the BEST engines GM ever made! Basically bulletproof. Keep it nice as it's indeed a modern classic and this is coming from a Ford dude here! I own a 2010 Ford Fusion SPORT first gen body style and it's basically a rare find now if any in good shape. Living in NE OH most cars from the first part of the decade have bit the dust due to rust. Mines stored winters was bought brand new by my Dad. Also a sweet car that's underappreciated.

Loved and miss my 98 GT. That exhaust you have is one of the nicest sounding I’ve heard. I had the wide track sport package. The normal spoiler is flush mounted and no peaks on top. You can do a lot to it from programming to intake, internals, bolt ons etc from ZZP. Nice find. I did a good amount and even prototyped a set of rockers from ZZP. Their extended range set. I’d love to find a GTP though. Modified, they’re sleepers.

I had a silver 2001 Special Edition GT. I miss it!!! It had the two toned seats as well, but it was all leather. I did prefer the spoiler on the Special Edition mores, but I thought these were pretty cool!

Thats sick man..i was looking at a 04 gtp with the supercharger...keep yours stock and og as its such good shape. I got the fake carbon fiber on the inside of my subie. Its decent. The interior i prefer on the 04 model though to be honest but again awesome find! Up here in Canada, these are all rusted out and gone.

Very beautiful GP! You don't have the optional heated driver seat though. The rocker switch for it would be right in front of the shifter where that oval spot it. I just bought an 04 Dale Jr supercharged Monte Carlo SS. It's my 5th GM W body with the 3800. My first was a 98 Grand Prix GTP. Yours is stunning!! Love it man and congrats

Most of those cars did not rust out, by 2003 GM was rust proofing the steel in the steel production process, plus lots of the body panels were plastic so I call BS.

enkei actually made those wheels btw. If I were you I would top swap that car. If I remember correctly the 2003's had a unique 4T65 trans that was exclusive to ONLY that year so that kinda sucks. P.S being you have the nice Bose Audio system I believe you can not change the head until unless you rip out the entire system with speakers don't bash me if im wrong though, it's been 13 years since I owned a GTP.
