@@benedward8559A mate of mine went to see a car in Bradford once. This was in the days before you could check MOT records online. The mileage wasn't advertised and when we got there it had done 160,000 miles. The reply from the seller? "it's cheap tho innit."

Well, at 125k Autotrader suggest the rather precise figure of £3,130 for a private sale, trade will always be south of that.

For example, many cars start life as company and lease cars bought with big discounts.They are sent to auction, often at 3 years old, and have high mileage given their age. This depresses car prices for certain models. Rust can be a problem for older cars in areas in the UK that salt the roads in winter. Some cars like Porsche 911s are often more expensive in the UK than elsewhere. Run of the mill BMWs generally cheaper. They seem to be parked on every street corner. Most VAG models have a reputation for mediocre reliability. On something like a Passat, which was also a fleet favourite, has lead to dirt cheap prices for that particular car compared to Europe.

Is it really that much in the UK? In belgium diesels are 500+ depending on wich year and engine. For example a c63 amg would be 7k yearly and first registration an extra 5k...

Check the oil pump shaft. The 2.0 TDI is notoriously vulnerable to the oil pump drive shaft failure problem, which is well documented. It’s not a widespread issue, but it does happen.

A worthwhile result , lovethese cars, I’ve had beamers, opel, Audis and now come back to the A3 2,0tdi. Great balance of fab mpg and performance after a simple stage 1 remap and £35 tax / year. It’s all the car I need , the Audi I’ve enjoyed most having owned previously the A5 & A4 3.0 L Tdi Quattro . TerrAclean annually, VPower Diesel and maintenance always done on time and they go on forever!

Audi's are for people who know it's a bad choice but can't resist the urge to transport themselves around in a vehicle that didn't cost them much and they think looks really cool and everyone watching them, like it's a gold watch, a statement, but end up regretting it and neglecting it because it ends up destroying their bank account, but all in the name of looking cool haha

The A4 2.0TDI is a solid, reliable car that is cheap to run. The only expensive thing to maintain is the suspension but you get what you pay for.

Lets just hope that Starmer doesn't introduce pay per mile to replace VED. I have heard rumours that they may want 15p per mile for Diesels. Will probably end up scrapping our Diesel Passat and XC60 if that happens as nobody would want to buy them.
