I like the broke down and beaten machines. They served their owners faithfully even when abused and uncared for. They above all deserve to shine like new again, and wear those miles with pride while looking rejuvenated once more!
I had a 95 gmc sonoma that was in the same shape as that ford ranger, I bought it off a tweaker for $800 , it was a pretty good truck and it was pretty good on gas but i ended up selling it because i kept getting pulled over because of how it looked and the exhaust was too loud on it kinda wish i kept now especially with how the gas prices are now😂
Not a bad find really for $400. I bought a not running 99 5-speed 2 door Cavalier for $320 about 4 years ago, Found out it overheated and burned a hole in the head so after a new thermostat and a trip to LKQ and a $45 head, $45 for the head gasket and head bolts, $77 for a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and slave cyl. and all I did was clean the block and head surface with a roloc wheel, put it back together and it fired right up and has ran perfect since.
Why put all that work on a cavalier? If you have the ability to swap out heads and clutches you should go to car auctions you can get some better cars that need engine or trans instead of a cavalier. Unless it was mint condition or something
I really like that Ranger and definitely see a lot of potential for it. $400 and it starts, runs, and drives, and doesn't look like it's been wrecked. Not a bad deal at all! I wish you all the best with the body and interior work, Jay! I think it's definitely worth it!
I love the older ford products from this time period.A friend of mine had a 1999 ranger he recently sold it.The quality of these older ford vehicles was so much better then compared to the newer ones.
2 minutes in, and I was already trying not to laugh in the middle of class. Great job Jay! Also, what makes you hate steering wheel covers so much? My steering wheel is in great shape, but I use a cover to keep it clean.
They are good for yourself and your situations but if you’re buying a used vehicle who knows how long the aids catcher has been on there.. Covid or not that is just disgusting. Throw out old one and if it’s a good steering wheel just get a brand new cover for cheap. Why use someone else’s old ratty cover lol
Hello friend Jay , you can fix the right front finder just remove it and take a rubber mallet to the dent on the back side and it should be good as new my friend hope to hear back from you soon thanks and may God bless you always and forever my friend 🤠
Well, the fender has a crease, and you wouldnt be able to get the entire dent out easily now. Fenders are very cheap at the junkyard so Ill just replace it before we send it to paint!
Truck will look nice all cleaned up with new paint.....The higher the price of gas....the easier it will be to sell, and the more money you will get.....There will be many "land yacht" type vehicles parked in backyards soon, and people looking for economical transportation.
I had a 1993 Ford Ranger 4cylinder, I drove it for 12 years and loved it, gave it to my brother and he is still driving it, but it could use a new clutch.
Those little Rangers are tough trucks. My Dad has a 1996 he bought new and is still driving it. His neighbor bought a S10 the same year and it was sent to the crusher years ago.
Some of those s10s didnt hold up as well. I do like the looks of the s10s more if im honest. But the 2.3 ranger paired with a 5 speed just cant be beat!
I've had my 93 Ranger 2.3 5 speed since 2004, and it's still my daily. I paid $1000 for it with 120K miles on it. It currently has 311K and It just keeps going. I'm keeping it for as long as I can. I don't need to look good where I'm going, I just need to get there.
You know up here in Iowa these are all rusted away, find used sheet metal, junkyard interior parts,do a do it yourself bed liner,it has no bad rust,so give it a paint job, hopefully its mechanically sound, these old rangers bring insane money
So far we have threw a clutch in it, timing belt, water pump, pressure plate, throwout bearing, slave cylinder, and valve cover gasket. The inside got a rubber floor instead of carpet, and new used seats and radio. We have about $750 tied up in the truck before paint. Lets see how it plays out for us !
That bird poo likely was a seagull who dumpster dived at a popular food place that the food accelerates the function of the number 2 portal. The bird in question who left his mark must have experienced that scenario as well.😁
I dont know if yours is a 4x4 but up here in maine thoes things with patched frames go for about 4000$ so you’ll get your money back i bet. I just bought a 98 cavilleer for 500 bucks with the same plan of fixin it and sellin it. The interior is immaculate and it only has 60,000 miles but the subframe is about as tough as styrofoam!
ive seen a new jeeps just today that had trims that were confusing...one seemed to be limited with cool spike jeep rims and velvet brown leather nut that wasnt limited but another who said it was limited but...look like middle trim.
My first truck was a 86 ranger plain Jane same engine transmission but mine was special it had Van Halens Drummer tapping out a beat where ever I went lol 🤣 had to put half a tree in the bed just so I wouldn't lose control of it in the winter 🥶❄️🌨️ when I'd take off from a stop 🛑 sign lmao 😂😆😂😂
I am watching from Elmira NY in Elmira NY that truck would sell for between three thousand dollars and three thousand five hundred dollars. I should try to get vehicles off of Facebook marketplace
Well GAWWWLLLEEEE Ford Ranger! Always liked those weird steelies on these 90s base model Rangers..don't see them to offten either. My friend had an XLT Ranger just like this (only a 94) we could never figure out what made it a XLT..I'm guessing it was just a lower tier XLT idk.
had a 96 ranger xlt 7ft bed reg cab auto trans 3.0 v6 power windows, locks, mirrors the same color and 14 in steel wheels alum cap and for some reason factory amplifier.
I'm not like all those big bad cowboy types. I know my stuff, and I keep to myself. A humble man with a humble truck. Need a lift? Call me up. Need a good ol' boy on the crew? I'm yer cowpoke. Guaranteed to be their when you call, and to see you through it all. And I'm probably a furry. Ford Ranger
Honestly I would do a Maaco paintjob, New seats, new headliner (or remove old headliner) and keep it as a shop truck, since it's road legal unlike your wood getter ranger.
Got a customer with one.. mint condition. 350 thousand miles and he still uses for work. That ranger a a few others I came across at work inspired me to buy a 2001 4.0 splash. Two years in and no troubles. Amazing trucks.
Oh no no no. This is a ford 2.3 its been around since before the Pinto days. The 2.3 your thinking of is from the era of Mazda/Ford partnership. Back when I worked with dad for a dealer we had to rebuild those motors all week long for auction cars. They are dual overhead cam run off a timing chain and they are garbage. After rebuilding/replacing a hundred just about I absolutely loathe those engines.
I had a black Ranger Splash years ago 4.0L auto it was a fun truck it actually did great burnouts 🤣 unfortunately I cooked the tranny and I scraped it.
@@MXguy95 They were quick for a V6 pick up, wish mine would have been 5 speed, only bad thing about that truck it was super dangerous on wet pavement the ass end would come out barley touching the peddle
Agree. The Lima or Pinto engine as it was known as was the best 4 cylinder built by an American manufacturer. Ford used some version of that engine from the ‘70s to the 2000s. The 2.3 was the most common.
