Sweetwater pontoon made by Godfrey.I bought this pontoon to learn the pontoon life.I found this boat for sale along the side of the road in Key Largo Fl. My name is Alfred Montaner Host of the Chit Show in Miami
I bought a 2004 Bentley Cruise 200 “grandpa” boat for $3000. Spent $2000 on redoing the seats. Cleaned her up good and she’s a dime today. Living on the lake it’s the perfect sunset cruise machine. Love the channel bud. Keep it up👌
I can't wait to see this rebuild series I will be following it religiously and all so can't wait to see the finished product it should be a lot of fun to watch.
Best boat I ever owned by far , was my pontoon. We lived on a chain of lakes in Michigan, load up the kids motor around a bit , stop at the pizza place . Drive on over to the shallows or the sand bar , drop the ladder and take turns with the other adults watching the kids have a great evening. We swapped out kid duty with water skiing . You won't be unhappy with this boat and momma will come around when she sees all the fun.
Congrats! Pontoons are so easy to customize. You can get Bimini tops for $150 and new seats pretty much mail order (Overtons has nice selection). Make a tiki barge! Looking forward to this series and you crashing into the ramp docks for a change lol. Good luck!
Oh are you in for a treat!! Finished a 3 year (I'm retired) 24' SunTracker. You are going to work your ass off removing the carpet. Polishing the aluminum-the black oxidation NEVER STOPS. If I never see another aluminum boat I'm running away as fast as I can. Currently back in fiberglass !! 1982 18' Action Marine
No matter how many times I hear it always makes me feel better when dealing with problems on my boat. "new boats are problems used boat are problems". You have to stick to the grandpa them as you restore it
I'm in the process of actively shopping for a new Pontoon boat. One of the ones I looked at is a 2024 Godfrey Sweetwater! I'm old enough to be a grandpa so it's OK! Looking forward to your progress on it!
Congratulations, Alfred the family gonna love it and I can’t wait to see your new episodes. Ps name it on after one of your pop favorite cigars. I’m sure you’re gonna be enjoying smoking while you’re chilling with your beautiful family. Enjoy it in good health Alfredito.👍🏽
That is awesome and a good deal . Johnson and Evinrude are great outboards with interchangeable parts. Still got my grandpas Evinrudes and Johnsons from the 30’s and 40’s and they all still run great .. I use his 1946 Johnson 5hp for my kicker . I would love to have a toon that sizes .. 👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome job ! We ❤ you! Everyrime qte go to blackpointt my son walks down there to see if your there but never sees you . He was a bit upset when we told him we met you about a year ago and offered you some ractos 😂
Yo Alfred, props (no pun intended) to you! Great idea for the whole family to enjoy - a grandpa boat! Damn, now we have to call you El Capitan - the King is dead!
My God a shed, Alfred I caught that at the end and I almost pissed myself😂😂 Shit you can build a tiny home on it if you want to and you can set it up with your camera gear, etc. I see your vision it’s has a lot of possibilities 👍🏽👍🏽 go for it I’ll be watching.
I would be offended that you call a boat just like mine a grampa boat. Except that I am a grampa 9 times over and traded in my Sea Doo in 2021 for my new pontoon. You will like spending a day on the water and coming home, NOT exhausted. This will be outstanding for cruising the canal systems and exploring like you did in the dingy series. I do look forward to watching you star in the chit show instead of narrating it. Wait for it.
Hey there Alfred. Good luck with your new and exciting hobby. Just takes patience (and some finances). I know you have the contacts and references of people to answer the questions along the way. And your weather in your location is nice all year around, so it is not like being in the northeast where seasons are limited. Hey, I fixed my central AC with a $5 condensor from Amazon on the blower motor, so anything is possible if you know what to do.
Been down the road with pontoon boats. Two areas of concern. Water inside the pontoon and rotting deck materials. People that have had to replace the deck, frequently don't use marine grade plywood. Exterior grade plywood glue doesn't like water, and will de laminate between plies. Pull the bung plug, and lightly pressurize the tube. Listen for air leaks. If you can hear air leaking, spray the welds with soapy water and look for bubbles. Don't use more than 2 psi.
I’ve never seen a boatyard that doesn’t have a water tank to back the boat up to and test. I think that’s awesome, nice big platform to film, bbq and tour in comfort 🍺🍺
Can you make a camera boat out of that and go to the sandbar- or anchor out of the way at the boat ramp and film? I'd leave the Johnston on there. So yes - grandpa series!
Can you imagine anchoring right where you usually film from and be able to sit in a comfortable chair while filming under your bimini. Watch for it!!!!!!❤😅😅😅😅
Bro, have you put Grandpa Montaner in the water yet? I live in Ga near Lake Lanier. My wife and I enjoy your Chit Show. I just bought a 2023 Tahoe T16. I’ve been learning a lot by watching your show. Thanks!
