There's a lot of people commenting on here that don't know what they're talking about. 450 motocross bikes have automatic compression release cams to make them super easy to kick over.. that's the whole point. Also, that "knocking" sound is the chain slapping, tighten it up. It does sound like it's a little lean.. check for leaks at the head pipe where it connects to the engine, and same for the air box. Seems to run good otherwise.
The decompression valve definitely doesn't make it "easy" to kick over, that engine seems pretty hashed. There's no way a 120lb kid should be able to kick it over that easy
John I think it's because he didn't do a full kick. My buddies 08 yz 450 has no compression unless you let the kick starter all the way up and get the compression stroke. Also don't the exhaust cams on those have a decompression weight?
Landre Porter definately an inch or two too small. Ussully the top of the tire sits above the fork seals. It could also be an optical allusion due to forks being completely draned of oil?
Congrats on your good deal. Heads up, don't blip the throttle when warming it up. Just let it idle until you feel the top of radiator get warm to touch. Did you know the main cause of engine damage occurs at start up because of improper warm up techniques and oil lubrication?
It colloquially called "cold seizing." (Seizing a cold engine) Saw a KX125 rev his bike cold to impress his girlfriend...we all could hear it seize...the engine coming to a permanent halt. I ALWAYS ride my bike just above idle for 4 to 5 minutes to warm it up. Good for 120 engine hours...easy.
Bike is running lean, check timing the popping is a sign of lean or timing is off a little. The sound u hear is the chain hitting the chain guide mine does the same thing
mm yea I would agree. $1600 was awful cheap for this bike. I would have gotten it, even it needed work. for 1600 you could rebuild this and still make a little money. Nice Bike thou.
The kickstart lever needs to be readjusted to it's original position, it's been worked on, it needs to a little more forward, it will vibrate on that twin spar.
mine was a 2002 which i believe was the first year for these 4 stroke 450r's,the only thing i hate about them is that you constantly have to shim the valves which is a pain in the ass.they are super expensive to do a complete engine rebuild on,it cost me $2500 to rebuild the bottom and top end.i ended up breaking my femur on it my very first track race which was the start and finnish of my race carreer
@@microsoftteams2663 yup,it was a nasty one,no pain at first until the adrenalin wore off hours later, went home and to bed and woke around 3am screaming in pain, went to the hospital and they took me in for x-rays and gave me a shot of morphine straight away,i was laid up for the entire summer and the worst was, they wouldn't operate as the dr told me the last patient with the same injury they put screws in him and every time he moved they screws would pull out so they just let it heal naturally.i still have a big chunk of bone moving around on the ball of my femur where it meets my hip and rain and cold bother it.the hardest part to accept was i was in 3rd place and catching the second place rider and we were on the second lap out of 3 so i may have made the podium on my first race ever.
Two and a half years ago I broke my right fibula two inches above the ankle. Took two years for most the hardbone healing to normalize, to diminish. I can't imagine how bad a broken femur hurt though!!!!
@@microsoftteams2663 u can see the accident on my channel, just look for the one about the motocross track, there are over 400 vids on my channel so you will have to scroll thru them but youll get to see how it happened,i got hit by a 300 lb rider and his bike while picking my bike up and its my bike that saved me or id probably be dead now
That bike is bound to blow up if you keep running it, that knock is probs the timing chain, it backfires ALOT, and there is white smoke... rebuild it before you fuck the bike up even worse
Great to see this CRF. You guys sound like my two boys - always having a go at one another ahaha hope the bike worked out for you. I plan to get one for my boys.
want that 04 to feel like a 2 stroke. get an 04 hrc cam for it. u wont believe how much more power it has and it revs out like a 2 stroke. i owned the 04trx in 04 was first at my desler with hrc equipped. my friend bought 04crf like u have crf had few mph more topspeex but the hrc equipped trx had so much torque was unbeluevable. no other csm ive tried came close
I'm not sure if you still have the bike but it sounds like the cam chain tensioner went out. I recently had the same issue with my bike and it was a $20 fix on ebay. Look into manual cam chain tensioners vs the auto adjusting. The oem honda tensioners tend to have short lives.
RC MAN 23 it also has really bad compression, has some type of knock that will result in catastrophic engine failure, take 10 kicks to start every time, idles high, has a really bad bogging issue probably a dirty carb, semi dry rotted tires, scratched fenders, stained crank case It was also smoking I’m not sure why but still
man they treat it so wrong. Never give gas when a 4 stroke is choke on. And a 450 is NEVER easy enough to kick in sandals. Plus something doesnt sound right with that bike. Maybe the Timing?
Jakelols Gaming not just with choke on, never gas a 450 while kicking, it will send the Kickstarter flying forward when it fires and break it leg. I learners that the hard way
I wish I were this young and could try one of these. Must be a special feeling when you are so young. Or am I wrong? I never had a moped when I was 15. Now I soon turn 50. I am probably older than the guy who is talking in this video.
I like how he says the 'breaks work pretty well' you wanns prey like holy f&ck they do. But don't like how many kick starts it takes to get her going :(
You are so dumb to buy that, the front tire is smaller than the back and it has really bad rod knock , that thing is about to blow😂 you shouldn't be able to kick that thing over like that , no compression and wouldn't start , common sense not to buy that man
That bike has definitely been abused and the compression is low/valves are bad because the compression seems low for sure by kicking it over with sandals. 450s have VERY high compression. Motor is more clanky than a coin purse too.
Late reply I know, but completely agree. I have an 07 and there is no way it kicks that smoothly... it's near impossible, but, it is in a kart 😜😎 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_2oSY_SMiGA.html
You are wrong. You can kick some 4 strokes with the gas open. you can’t kick the motocross bikes because it has a spitter in the carb by the intake tube that spits fuel every time you rev it. Not these but 4 strokes that don’t have the posters you can kick without
my decked 01 250 would beat my 450 in a race every time, so im not sure what you are talking about, but what else can you expect a 10 y/o to say who cant even sit on a 250 or 450 XDDD
