Hey my dad has a set of hummer tires in Utah. Message me if your interested. He’s also got a h1 hummer limo that I think you’d like that’s also in Utah.
@@numnumb5969 When the weather gets warm keep an eye out for people riding motorcycles with no helmet and no windscreen. They usually have sunglasses on, and those sunglasses don't end up on the side of the road, they stay on their faces right where they're supposed to be.
@@numnumb5969 Not true actually. A good pair of sunglasses will hug your head and not fly off, at least mine never have going up to 70mph in a bass boat with no windshield.
For anyone who hasn't experienced desert heat in this part of the country, I cannot overstate how insane this man is to drive through the desert in an overheating vehicle with no A/C and no doors
I was a 63B (mechanic) in the Army for a cav scout battalion and I can verify that these are pieces of shit. I replaced every single part on that monstrosity at least once for almost 5 years. It was good to see they finally moved on.
I’m a 19D. Was a driver for about a year and a half when I started my career. The second I won my .50 gunner slot I vowed to never deal with truck shit again.
"...25 miles an hour, with the devil farting in your face!" Westen is a national treasure. We must protect him. Even if we have to protect him from himself.
@@biazer9517 you are insane.. plus isn’t it the Mexicans you are terrified of? I guess the fear mongers on the far right are teaching you to be terrified of everything and that is something you might want to actually become aware of so you can start enjoying your life..
Man, I used to drive these in the Army. Driving one on the highway makes you feel like a badass, but going down the highway in the gunner turret sitting behind an M2 makes you feel like King Big Dick.
There's only 2 ways I've heard veterans talk about humvees: 1. Absolute pile of trash worst experience of their life they'll never recover from such a tragedy 2. *Big dick energy*
Next to the coolant expansion tank is a plug. If you unplug it the radiator fan runs constantly. If you have an MRE box you can totally use the cardboard as a temporary thermostat gasket.
“The military wasn’t too concerned about people stealing these things….. if you haven’t watched the news” Loved it. Thanks for the awesome video man, can’t wait to see more. Will something more happen to the bus?
It would make sense like can you imagine being shot at and you need to retreat I know american soldiers are train to engage asap and fight but it would suck if your bro lost the keys to the only car available
I work on these here in kansas on Fort Riley, that looks like a M1097. They are notorious for overheating! It's always the fan clutch solenoid, time delay or the fan clutch itself. If you unplug the time delay the fan clutch should kick on if not your fan clutch is seized, if it is there's 6 screws on the back of it loosen them and tap around the fan clutch and sometimes it'll spring out then tighten the screws back up. It should kick on at about 180 degreese.
Now he knows where you are, he's gonna drive over there and ask the MPs at the gate "Yo some dude on RU-vid said he knows how to fix these fucks, can I borrow him for a bit?"
@@haussman242 You’ll love it…said no one ever! Actually, I didn’t mind it that much….spent several rotations there in late 90’s. Just got done working a contractor gig there as a gunnery trainer. It’s all what you make of it.
Meh they can’t upkeep anything we left. They’ll run out of stuff like fluids after a week, every day the fluids on those things had to be topped off. Can’t wait to see how many get ditched when they break down or something.
As a mechanic in the military and having to work on those all the time I will say the fact that he made it that far before that tire blew kinda shocked me. And them gauges on that thing don’t always work right that’s one of the big problems we have on ours. Well the gauges and the flashers in them are our main problems usually
The main problems other than bulbs and the turn signal stock, are the fuel pumps, and the PCB. They always go out, because the unit is too lazy to fix the actual problem and they just want the quick solution. It also doesn't help when the operators do their PMCS and don't notice it doesn't have any fluids, because it's all burned up. But if I try to order the correct parts, that's a problem because it costs to much. It's really stupid that I have to let them destroy it before I can order the correct parts.
Man...... those shots from the different states were sooo cool...!! Utah, New Mexico, California, Las Vegas......!! Thats why a road trip are worth to do some day
I did 2700 in a fox body lx 4banger that was 32 years old at the time. Lol It constantly over heated and actually only made it about 1/3 the way there before it chugalugged itself out. Little thing was an awesome car though despite being ragged out by the previous owners before it was gifted to me. Loved it. And watching this threw me right back behind the wheel of that little stang, cruising on the highways of p.a on my way back to Texas. If you haven’t done a full road trip through the us by car. Do it. You only live once so trust me the views you’ll see are worth it.
That's so cool. I had the chance to buy one with a topper for $19,900 with a extra set of tires and a set of soft doors. The surplus store had 4 of them for sale. They said they were going to get more of them but not yet.
You did better than I ever did. I had a humvee break down driving from Landstuhl to Baumholder, Germany. Had to ride the rest of the way on the back of an equipment transport.
Only Wes can make the drivers seat of a Humvee look tight lol. Classic line “looks great if you stand back and squint.” I’m using that one, probably a lot. Oh, and it’s only flat about 30% so you all are good!
The Virgin River Gorge is a fun drive heading south bound from St.George to Mesquite. There is a hiking trail called Cedar Pocket Wash Trailhead that I recommend visiting and looking around and is off exit 18 "Cedar Pocket". Also, great video!
Westen ur my kinda people!!! Best channel on RU-vid hands down..may ur success continue u deserve it, big heart big smile and always happy..the world needs more guys like u and ur crew.much love from Ohio🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
They spend their life operated by man children. Trust me I know. I used to test the new ones my unit received. New they’re great. After years of abuse and neglect. Not so much. These things are literally driven like they’re stolen constantly.
@@shortthrow50 seeing how they are built by the cheapest bidder, I get it’s not junk but knowing people who drove military vehicles.. they break down a lot and are constantly having to be worked on. Brand new not a problem, used and abused for years by the military, problems lol you think it was driven like a one owner 1990s Cadillac bought new and garage kept its whole life? Those things get put to the test 😂 why you think it has low miles and being sold? Unreliable.
Yeah I live in st. George where he got stuck, I drive a deuce and a half, ive got a roof at least but all the doors and windows all open when it gets hot, even if its raining, better to get wet than heat stroke.
These things are pretty fun to drive but they do have maintenance issues being so old. From what I've heard, it's mainly the engine that requires maintenance. 240 is not overheating, 260 would be problematic. The cooling system is rated for 185-250 degrees turns on at 220 and off at 190. You also want to check fluids monthly and do basic maintenance like draining the fuel filter after driving it, etc. I wanna get one when I have the money to blow and install some subs in the bed, Apple CarPlay, etc. and totally pimp it out
I spent 6yrs in the USMC in a heavy machine gun platoon, we had the hard top humvee's, I don't know how they designed them, all the heat from the engine comes right in to the passenger compartment, you can cook a can of soup on the engine block though.
That humvee definitely does not only have 1000 miles on it. Those gauges break all the time, and when they replace it, it resets to 0. I've bought a few of these. It's probably got well over 150k miles.
he reminds me of my grandpa sometime because, Quote: 'Anything Else we might need? i think that it," and also Do you think it will make it to Kansas?" (Not Kansas but like " do you think it will make it?" Love your videos man
Death Valley would've been the hottest desert you drove through, thankfully it was at night so yaknow, only a little less death. Hell of a trip for a HMMV dude, if you can imagine also wearing long sleeve uniforms and pants, over 25lb. of kevlar and hard plates and a helmet-- then our ammo and equipment to bulk on top of that, then you'd have a little more of an idea of how miserable these beasts are when we were on deployments haha. Drink water! Enjoy the 50mph steed of greatness my dude.
I subbed the moment you got on the phone with your mom asking about AAA. I had to make the exact same call to my grandpa once and it went almost word for word the same. 😂🤣
If you want more fun just wait until the Chinese copy the Blackhawks they'll no doubt be loaned by their new friends in Afghanistan , and then start selling them cheap on Amazon with free shipping !
@@SVOddball I'll sacrifice myself to find out Edit - Got an ad, read the first comment and it said "you got me". Too afraid to look any further so I backed out
Lmaooo being in the USMC and knowing how bad our HMMVW’s are I’m truly shocked it went past 200 miles, hell I’m shocked it hit more than 150 without hitting any major mechanical issues
Wess should take it through the dunes when he comes back for it. I’m probably wrong but I don’t think Matt has pulled out a military humvee yet. Either way, it would make a great episode. We just got a call for a….
love that ya wanted the gun truck. trust me, you got the best pick since it aint got all that armor on it. only i'd say you need is a windshield and you're golden
@@dompido7037 I'm thinking the US government left all that shit deliberately just to piss the Taliban off when they can't operate or fix anything. It's like giving a car to a dog. Sure. It can drive if you put it's paws on the steering wheel but as soon as you let it try on it's own it can't. Did you see them trying to fly that helicopter. That's some funny shit right there. Very primitive people.
I just drove from los angeles to dover south carolina to take my friend his harley, then i drove to alabama to help with the hurricane and just now getting back home.. 6,160 miles in 7 days.. that was the craziest thing I’ve ever done.. highway 40 is washed out in Tennessee, the roads in Tennessee are probably the worse roads in this country.. thought i snapped an axle on my trailer.. ended up being a broken leaf spring shackle bolt.. sheared right off.. took 70 cases of bottled water and canned foods down there. I hope it helps
Of course it helped bro, good shit. My dad, a retired Dr. Got his hands on an ambulance and we drove it full of wheelchairs to a small hospital in Nicaragua as a donation. No cams, no IG or Tik Tok hits, still happened an still matters.
Not all of us over here in California are ignorant assholes. Most of us actually care about the rest of the country. I do what i can with what i have. I started truckin right when katrina hit years ago. For 3 months solid all i did was drop and hook load after load from the west coast to the katrina area in louisiana/alabama
