Hey, it lasted through a hell of a lot of abuse in it's life, being run hard by a bunch of 18 year olds over rough roads on some godforsaken hell hole, like North Carolina or some shit.
@@russetwolf13 This... also have you seen how drivers fuck around with these things :D Just few days ago saw video of truck coming full speed to emergency stop, windows being open and several rifles sticking out, unloading everything forwards and then speeding off...
Just starting watching this guy and one thing that I have notice is that no matter what happens during his adventures, he seems to stay so positive and happy and laughs everything off. This guy is great
Dude, the fact that you were busting up laughing after the engine spewed it's oil everywhere, Westen you're living life if you can just laugh that all off😂
This is a great idea I’d like to see! Think you should do this and include some of the tools you buy for your jobs and do a review on them, give pointers when buying things for your shop like Lifts
Can we just talk about how "This is sounding like a worse idea the more I talk about it....SOOOO I'm not going to talk about and just do" is a mood guys experience daily like myself.
@@gunerkacz8678 While I'm not 100% positive of that particular trucks specs (Clifford), 1 ton duallys are generally in the range of 32,000 lbs/16 tons. Clifford is far more than capable of hauling a 5 ton truck. Even in the video, it's the trailer that failed, not Clifford.
@Duca, it's easier to hunt deer with rocket launchers too, but that doesn't make it practical. So easier, yes, but not required. His truck was more than capable of hauling it. The trailer failed. That trailer with a tractor would've still failed. Why use a tractor when a 1 ton dually would've more than sufficed? Not to mention insurance and requirements to run a tractor trailer are much higher and uses more fuel, than to just take a pickup more than capable for the need. (Semis, yes even Peterbilts, are slower to get going too, even bobtailing they're slower than a 1 ton)
@@WestenChamplin hays funny it seem like that when ever you think a somthing is going to be quick and easy it isn't at least that's how it is on our farm we were lading manure with our backhoe and we popped a tire so we when to start it to raise the tire of the ground with the hoe and the starter blue up endless to say what should of taken us a day to do ended up taking 4 weeks
@@WestenChamplin you think that 5 ton is bad go look at a hmmwv. I was an engineer in the army. You couldn't pay us enough to take the hmmwv's out we'd drive 10 ton 6x6s or the 8x8s
I love the positive attitude you always have even when someone else would be angry you find the humor and that's hard to find in someone now days love the show keep it up brother we can all learn something from you 🤙
So where was the oil coming from. I think those hold like 16 quarts of oil. The adventures is what makes memories. I tell ya. The look on Dom's face when you asked where is the wheel was priceless. Lol
@@paulhoskins7852 yeah very dangerous, they tend to bounce into people's windshields and doesn't help trailer tires are much heavier than regular tires.
The amount of growth from this point is just awesome, talkin about the cummins mustang and the garage, all for it to come together a few years later. Great work man, i want to be more like you
YES I LOVE YOU FOR THIS! I’ve got 5 of these 6x6 monsters. The engine in yours is a NHC 250 Cummins. However, be careful with that oil leak because the military used one type of oil for everything in order to keep costs down on fluids like auto trans fluid, power steering, and everything else. So just in case, check the engine oil before adding any.
Wasn't about costs it was about the fact that it's just easier to supply one fluid type then half a dozen. This was a military piece of equipment, they don't get a NAPA or Autozone to go for things when they are in a combat zone. Infact check out Appendix D page 262 in www.jeepolog.com/UserFiles/downloads/field%20manuals/BDAR%20tm9-2320-356-bd.pdf to see all the viable substitutes. Such as water being a substitute for hydraulic fluid as a last resort.
@@2011hemiram no. Dot will fuck you loaded or not with a missing wheel. $50,000 fine where I am, after a series of wheels falling off killed a bunch of people in the 90's
I am so happy I got one of your videos on my recommended! This guy is GREAT, I gotta watch the rest of his videos for context now. That mustang got me interested now
Hey Wes, I’m an 88M (Army truck driver) in the Army; look for the TM (technical manual) for the model number. The “-10” is operator level manual, the -20, -30 and -13P will have all the information and part numbers you’ll ever need
I found your channel yesterday and man I'm loving your content! You're just out there living the dream buying trucks and going on adventures. I wish I could live like you!
These guys are awesome. They make being a mechanic worth it. Being able to work with your hands and make something from nothing. That truck almost leaked as much oil as a land rover does.
I spent a year running secfor for Seabees in Afghanistan. They made some damn good hooch. Cuban cigars and hooch after a day of poppin' hajis was some good times.
Just drove a beautiful peterbilt back from ct to ca, oil cap cane off in the hills of pa spewing oil front to back and all underneath, was a bad feeling being 3000 miles from in the middle of nowhere with a truck dripping in oil, luckily I put the cap on and all was fine, added 1.5 gallon oil at the next truck stop, hit the first truck wash I came too and sent it on back to ca.
I've had a few of these, and deuces ... yeah the lights are a pincher type switch making it difficult to turn them on accidentally and " give away your position " ... these trucks are literally tons of fun, I recommend one to any young buck gearheads that gave place to park em. It does get old getting beat up driving and maintaining a rig designed to be crewed by a team of people. I used to wear a helmet for repairs, and earplugs when driving it ... five ton dump, great rig ! Congrats.
Ive wanted one of these things for a while, I drive the newer ones in the army now and I will give you a huge pointer, don't trust the fuel gages, always look in the tank, no matter what they are broken or lie all the time
Wow Westin glad you and Dom got the truck home. I thought I was watchin Road Kill with david Frieburger..lol..I never seen so many breakdowns just getting a truck home. Good job though!
It's good to see you and the team get progressively more entertaining with less and less effort on each video. Cant wait for the shop build and all the machines yall work on ✊🏼
I love this channel everyone watch the adds and get this man his awesome dream shop and everything that comes with it so we get more videos! Btw nice military dump truck
"Who said you had to buy a truck that runs, that's overrated. Buy you one that dont run, and you'll have so much more fun with it." I've been trying to tell my parents that but they wont listen!
I love this, I havent heard of yinz but found ya through a meme and oml your energy and amazing editing skills is great! Thanks for making great content!
I bought a military humvee from the 80's and it died before I got home. Turns out it runs on JET FUEL and the MILITARY BASE i bought it from didnt even TELL ME. I also bought a military tow truck like your dumper, and it was ok.
You need a Soviet ZiL-131 6x6. It runs on any old piss fuel, petrol, diesel, kero, any contaminated mix of any old shit. Of course it only does 50mph top speed and you get 5mpg while it belches out pollution that would make Greta Thunbergs prodigal future daughters eyes water, but it does the job and doesn't need any John Deere or Tesla engineers to come out on a plane and hotel expense merely to reset the code to fix it when you have already fixed the problem of a leaking vacuum hose or other that caused an error code that was logged on Apples iCloud.
They run off of both diesel and JP8. Not all diesels can run off of JP8 because they can overheat. If it is JP8 compatible, it will run off of diesel. JP8 is mostly kerosene.
I had a wheel fall off a single axle trailer with all my stuff on I95 when moving south. Pair of boat trailer wheels with radials were put on cause the bias ply wouldn’t have made it. There was rust on the inner part of the wheel where it contacted the hub, rust flakes off lug nuts loosed up and the tire passed me at 70mph. Sheared every single stud right off. Took a few off the other side and put the spare on then limped to auto part stores looking for wheel studs. One had two of them, another had four. Glad nobody got hurt it bounced off the center median wall a few times and I was in the center lane slowing down carefully. Later on I saw that the u-bolt holding the axle on the trailer had been worn down 3/4 past the nut. Another 10 seconds the u-bolt would have let go and the axle would have come out of the trailer. Very lucky that didn’t happen among other things.
Hi Westen. I think it's called a duece and a half. 6×6. Badass, go practically anywhere. Uncle Edward had one he kept at our house, when I was a kid. Hard a big mechanical winch. Pulled trees down and skidded logs with it..
I must be sad because I'm really enjoying these videos. Glad I came across them and subscribed. Great videos guys. From lockdown East Yorkshire, England. UK (We may be in lockdown but at least we don't have to suffer from MeAgain and Ginger anymore)
