There are you tubers who are professional valets and it is truly hypnotizing to see what they get and what they return after cleaning. I vividly remember one Peugeot 207 where the passenger footwell was up to and then spilling over onto the passenger seat - with fag butts.
I had a 2015 same model and loved the car but spending time on an XE forum, was shall we say, enlightening. The timing chain is a known troublesome feature and is mounted at the rear of the engine and hence the expense to change it. That body work repair was the deal of the century! As a driving car they are very good indeed and do not disappoint. Very chuckable and extremely comfortable.
As an owner of a 2015 Jaguar XE I found that particularly interesting! Great car so far but the engine does sound like a tractor on start up. Mine was cheapish because it didn’t have a full service history but it was low mileage, 31000 miles. ( checked out on Car Vertical, thanks to your recommendation). Keep those videos coming please!
Wow, now that did impress me. The Jags never really have caught my eye, until now. The end result is very easy on the eyes. A job well done Mat. Best of luck with the sale.
Never been a diesel fan so would never buy this XE but 2 years ago I bought the 3.0S. Man, what a car !!. 335 bhp Supercharged V6 , 4.9 seconds to 60 and nearly 40 mpg on a steady motorway run. Mine is an ex dealer demonstrator so has the full options list thrown at it. It is faster, more refined and handles better than my son’s E46 M3 and is more economical and faster than my old x308 XJR ( which I do miss for the v8 burble) . This S is a rare sight on our local roads (North East Scotland) and is generally a bit ‘under the radar’ especially as it’s unfortunately not made anymore. Very rarely see another one on the road. Car hasn’t missed a beat in the 2 years I’ve owned it and is a hoot to drive every day. Would have another one in a heartbeat !
U are right about the mirrors ,had the 2.o petrol rsport from new with a large discount because I worked there ,six years on only one problem with the enfotainment system changed eventually. Under warranty, the best car iv ever had .change oil more than manufacturer recommended it will be fine
I really enjoyed this video. But I’m interested why you were disappointed that it was a Manual? I thought most people in the UK preferred to drive Manual gearboxes. Thanks 🙏
Wow! Amazing and fascinating how you have transformed that car! That ripped bodywork must have beem filled in with filler! It looks brilliant, and who ever buys that car is going to be a proud owner. I would be.
For some reason I'm weirdly obsessed with the slightly sleazy looking, car-dealer type bloke in the pic on the CarVertical site and I have NO IDEA WHY! Anyway, great videos mate- really nice filming, presenting and editing. Keep it up!
Here in Portugal, car prices are ridiculously expensive. You wouldn't get a sorted 2016 Jaguar XE with similar mileage for less than 20,000€. As a Brit, it's the worst place I've ever seen for second hand car prices. They don't even allow the general public to buy cars at an auction.
Great video Matt, as always! I was looking forward to a video on the ‘16 XE, I hope you get a great return for your TLC. (P.S. not an idiot, just passionate about what you do.)👏
Funny how times change...a few years ago manual Jaguars were saught after as it was a sporting express. If you wanted a relaxing slish box you bought the Daimler version. Manual in my opinion is more keeping with the Jaguar sporting heritage...
hahaha, my company is 2319detailing, i love these Jags and have 4 regular customers. I thought when you opened the boot...they had done the normal of "the car goes next week, lets do the tip run and someone else can clean it" BUT NOPE heartbreaking to see what was a nice car treated so badly. Great video as always! cheers Paul
I've got kids but would never let my car get like that. Get mine valeted every 4 weeks by some guy in bredbury who comes to your house. Great service he does to. Majestic valeting
Shocking, I spotted a damaged door rubber on the rear passenger door in the after valet video. Did you not replace any of the torn door seals? I'll give you a pass if you didn't though as you've already sunk a boatload of cash into that car. Great video, as always
You want to watch “Anton Malar” repairing a car when you weren’t sure how to tackle the panel damage, nothing goes in the bin all gets fixed, worth a look 😮 looks like a blue focus he brought back to life..
It was in a bit of a state, no doubt there. I agree on the lack of a pre trade valet but sounding disappointed when listing everything that caused the £4K price is a little harsh. It is what it is and you got a steal.
Here in Greece I found a used jaguar xe (model 2016) at the price of 33000 euro! All used cars are super expensive and the salaries are super low! I am jealous of you British!
Pity you weren't able to check out those Codes Logged on the system then you would /should have had serious Leverage and had a good bargaining chip to put on the table, to get a much better price... but you made the best of the hand you were dealt, so it all worked out...at least you have a selling point with that new timing chain, seemly those Turbo Diesel engines were licenced from Fiat... what could go wrong... great upload...
That's not how trade to trade sales work, it's all about a fair description and do you want it or not. If you say no too many times they won't call you again.
I really enjoy these videos, wouldnt say know to a couple a quick clips as the works being done too but I appreciate thats probably a pain to get hold of!
Wow my car is 25 years old and is always parked outside (no garage / shed) & gets washed every few months & is nowhere as filthy as this much newer 1 inside & out! 😮😢
You are not supposed to bring half of the National Trust property you are visiting home in your boot. Bet the previous owners are glad they did not hit that gate post 24 hours later! Great vid.
Interesting video, thanks for sharing. I've just purchased a 2009 x type 2.2 diesel auto. With only 82k on the clock, I was rather hoping that the timing chain would last a long time, but hearing that you're replacing one after only 100k is rather disappointing news. Still, all in all, you've landed a bit of a bargain. 👍
It is absolutely disgusting. £20 valet would have sorted that interior. I’m with you Matt. I would be ashamed to drive a car in that condition. Makes you wonder what their house is like.
Here in South Africa cars like these car scooped up at auctions. These types of damage here is small smacks. You should see what some dodgy dealers get away with here..its shocking. Some people are driving around in cars that are 2 halves welded together and the customer has no clue.. It's quite appauling for dealers to do this. However mates of mine usually picked up bargains at auctions that are to be scrapped for cheap and completely replace all panels and sell them privately. Usually ones that have no or limited structural damage. I once bought a corsa b from him that was involved in a roll over with no structural damages. He just replaced new roof skin, Bonnet and front wings. Car looked like it was never in any banger. Drove it for 3 more years with absolutely no issues before getting into an accident and then having to sell. It was 4 years old when I got it however it was easily good for another 5+ years😂. Strong little engines those 1.4 are. We still had them made here till 2008
Great video & a good car you have there. In 4 days time I'm literally booked in to purchase a Jaguar XF 2015 for £14½K but it's done less than 50K miles. I believe the price I will be paying is the current 'going rate' from a reputable dealer.
I can't understand why people let cars get like that. I also can't understand why Jaguar would de-base their name by putting it on a 2.0 diesel manual car like that. Still at 4k, for a 65 plate, you will easily get the body fixed sub 1k ex-vat, and provided the engine light is nothing, a good profit is there to be had.
I totaly agree with you, I would be embarrassed to trade a car in that condition. Who ever owned it was a disgusting pig and didn't deserve a fine quality car as a Jaguar. It's a shame to let such a beautiful expensive car look like this, if they let it look like this I would bet they didn't care about maintanence either. I would never buy a car in that state, nor would I ever get into one for a test drive.
That was a shocker. Unbelievable how dirty the inside of that Jag was. I would definitely like to see the ex owners house…preferably if I was wearing a hazmat suit at the time though 😳 I would have loved to see the appraisers face in the new car showroom when they presented that one😀 The biggest shock was the cost of the timing belt change and service at £2000. I have an XF diesel with an ingenium Diesel engine, I will be moving that on long before the timing belt service is due👍
Yeah I did think the body damage wasn’t that bad ,the timing chain did surprise me , I think the reason it was sold the owner knew about that, you did alright.
fabulous car....Ji think you need to drive a 6 cylinder PETROL BMW.I have one of these as my company car and it is so nice to wheel out my 530i on the weekend, the only redeeming feature is getting 45MPG from the bus.
Engine light. Wow. What a mad car. 65 reg battered abused. Unloved. Driven around like a Fiesta pool car. Jags never abused as this. Odd. Write it down as ‘ One of them ‘ and stretch the titillation for max profit
Well done for restoring it from such dilapidation. Does an equivalent used 3 series at perhaps £10,000 still look worthwhile, even though it's considered a finer car?
Congratulations Matt, another fine restoration project. Judging by the condition of the vehicle the second owners looked like they treated it with a casual disregard. The unexpected £666 0.00 repairs might have been ominous, but as usual you've managed to 6uild 6ack 6etter !
Know what you mean, even when I exchanged in my old shitty fiesta, I still spent £30 getting it cleaned...having said that, they never even looked at it and I got stitched up with a mobile money-pitt...wish I'd curled one out in the boot.
I was going to buy a brand new XE back in 2015 but as you noted, the doors sounded tinny, I didn't like having to climb over that chunky sill and I didn't like the rotary auto knob that disappeared when switching off. I would have preferred a two door version anyway.
Yes Matt win some and lose some more money on what looked on video as a dogs dinner gone astray back and front. Yes I agree some folk just use cars for shear entertainment and never clean them inside or out and I think why - as cleaning the car used to be a Sunday mornings exercise and paid for my pocket money.
The car does have a lot to give, for someone on a budget they would have scrapped it for sure! Well done mate, it's an environmentally friendly service! Eventhough its diesel 😁👍🏻
Love these videos and the effort to restore these back to former glory! I would of liked to have seen a professional detail so the leathers would of been a matte clean instead of still shiny and grimy but however i can see why some of these still only warrant a hand car wash lol!
Matt, I'm in Stockport and me car needs a valet....not as much as that jag tho 🤣 who does your valeting mate? Always looks spot on. Love the channel. cheers!
This is the first time I ever watched a car video and somebody complained a car was a manual. Would you tell me why? Unless you say it later and I haven't gotten to the point yet. I personally think manuals are overrated. I learned how to drive one because of the hype and was pretty dissapointing. Learning how to drive one is neat and if I was rich having a manual would be cool. But as a daily I just don't get it.
The economics of this one for an ‘average’ dealer are fairly clear as you’ve laid out the end Matt - but out of interest how much is the YT video w/ sponsorship contributing to the profit on these too?
I can't believe a 2016 car with such low miles and with that price tag was so cheap even before the damage. Why anyone would buy a Jag or LR is beyond me. So many better options Also why is the hood release on the passenger side?
What gets me about this car is, How could the owner trade this in , in this state and get a high return for it. Yes it's a Jag but a very nasty dirty Jag. If someone came and tried to trade this i would knock of at least a grand just to cover the valeting
hi Matt, you have many viewers who do not listen but spout forth. Was the 2k also including a service? If yes then not 2k for timing chain, for those that are hard of hearing.
What’s the point of a mxd range luxury car that sounds that bad, after a service. Sounds worse than a Volvo D5 under pressure. You’d have to have a good music collection on full blast to have a relaxing peaceful drive away from cruising on tick over.
That was disgusting. If they'd spent ~£20 on a clean, would they not have gotten a couple of hundred more on the appraisal? Credit to you Matt for being brave enough to get in it.
There is something hateful about people who are wealthy enough to be able to afford the nice things many of us could never have, but neither appreciate or care for them. I don't know what new car the owner of this Jaguar traded it in for, but I think I can guess what state it's soon going to be in.
I have 2 young kids and a dog. Even if I didn't clean my car for a year, it wouldn't be in the state that the Jag was. Couldn't imagine driving around it that car.
