I've had some pretty dumb ideas, but this might top the list! It's time to take this Chevrolet Silverado nascar style truck and turn it into a burnout rig!

Mind Bottling! I worked at John's Auto repair for a long time. I've definitely worked on that truck and also been Pit Crew while we raced at Huntsville Speedway. Wow this episode is a Trip! Gonna have to grab some cold snacks for this one!

And got a much better understanding of why things are the way they are. Not just sticking parts together any more.

My grandpa had a '46 Ford truck that had a sheller on it and one day he needed to get up on the roof of the machine shed or something and he didn't have a ladder on hand. So he took the '46 Ford and parked it up against the machine shed and stick welded old scrap pipe and angle iron onto the frame of the truck and made a mobile scaffolding/sheller. He named it Blunker. I don't know why or what it means but you talking about scaffolding brought back that story my dad used to tell. I saw a picture of Blunker and it was painted Minneapolis-Moline yellow and was worn out and beat up. :)

A little trick you can use if you can't get to the parts store for assembly lube. If you have some chainsaw bar oil around it'll do in a pinch. It's got a lot of tackifiers in it just like the good stuff. If I'm doing work on the lawnmower engine or something I use a combo of that and vaseline. Works fine. I usually drop the oil after a heat cycle anyway so no need to go crazy with it. Just as long as it's got lube when you start turning everything.

I truly hope some people didn't give you grief about not releasing a new video on Friday. If they did, don't sweat it. True fans will be here and understand. Keep doing what you're doing Derek, it's the family and real life we enjoy watching.

Certified frame, full tube chasis front to back. Awesome lucky find!

Super big fan of old glory in so many of your vids. Cars are great but then you see the stars and stripes. 👍

Hey Derek love the content and what about calling the rig "Ole Iron side's" like the ship USS constitution. That sucker bounced so many broadside cannon shots during the war. It's kinda fitting for the theme you tend to do and the nascar truck pretty much nothing but a tube frame made to bounce impact's so it kinda makes sense.

That diff is definitely an Eaton Detroit Locker. From what I understand, it only locks up under power. It unlocks under decel. Probably why it was clicking when you spun one wheel or the other.

We love all the VGG content! In keeping with the "freedom" theme, how about a new twist with the spiders? Name the truck black widow, flat black, with patriotic red, white, blue, flag looking spiderweb. Maybe a wrap that is flat black and looks like it's peeling back in a spiderweb pattern to reveal the flag theme underneath? Also like the fact that you will be in a cage during the burnout competition. Plan for rapid escape if necessary.

Great find Derek! This was built to run the (I think) Nascar Super Truck series for the local short tracks and were really great short track trucks. They did use the A body chassis and put on a jig then re-welded all the frame seams as they were usually just stitched welded then the roll cage was added to it. Here locally most had a small block V8 ford or chevy and a lot of them used a c4 automatics for the trans. This was a great short track series when they ran them. Good luck with it!

The Name Should Be Brodie Rippems Derrick. The burn 🔥 out truck . You should mount fans on it big ones to blow the smoke away so you can see the walls

1 3/4 spacer on front mounts, 3/4 spacers on the rear mounts. Same spacing we use on the late models

I really regret not being able to spend my declining years on your pit crew. So, I do the next best thing and watch all your videos! Great stuff! Wish I could have seen something similar when I was a shaver. Would have saved me from learning this stuff the hard way (through my own mistakes).

Some people can only learn that way.... some only learn by doing (right or wrong), and others learn by seeing or hearing.... something I learned by homeschooling 3 teenage boys.... I learn by jacking up.... hahahahaha

This makes a lot of sense for the burnout pad. You'll avoid header clearance issues if you run stacks or zoomies... ;-) Not sure how that fits with your ideas for the look of the thing...

Hi Derek, I have been watching your videos since day one. I love what you do with the old rusty's and put them back on the road and also the attention you give to your family while doing all your projects. I would love to visit you one day and hang out and get my hands dirty helping you out. And also have a cold snack or two. Keep up the good work my friend!

Like I have said in a lot of VGG video comment sections I absolutely love watching what you have to work on next. Keep up the great work. I am living vicariously through you while you do the builds, I used to love doing this sort of thing back when I was physically able to. I am really looking forward to part 2.

I like the "scaffolding" name idea, but the first thing I thought it looked like was a birdcage 😁 You could maybe get some paint-job inspiration from the "birdcage Corsair" aircraft?
