My concern with astro is can you program it to patrol at night when your sleeping and if it finds an unwanted person what happens does it have a loud alarm that can wake you up etc....
I received an invite today to buy Astro. I am concerned because Amazon just laid off a large number of people in their Alexa department. I am wondering how this will affect Astro and its development and its support. $1600 is a huge investment for something that might not be around for long.
I talked with Amazon and they said for me to remotely control the device I should be on the same wireless network. That ended my interest and I suggested for business monitoring or elder assistance they should allow people to opt-in to this outside network access accepting slightly higher security issue which I think is the concern. I am able to access blink cameras remotely, for example. Incidentally I did find drop in feature on the Amazon Show devices useful for elderly parents because they didn't have to figure out how to answer it. But I wasn't going to invest in this device unless remote access was feasible.
it's interesting as a robot fan... i'm wondering if i could use it to keep my dog from being destructive when i'm away.... like could i spy on him remotely and say, 'no, go relax.....when he starts pulling blankets and pillows off of sofas.... or let him know he's not alone

Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully reply to my questions.
