I bought a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti with near 100,000 Miles from an auto auction in Las Vegas Nevada. It is quite possibly the cheapest V12 Ferrari sale in modern history, but with 100,000 miles and questionable origins, was it worth it???

When you are a dedicated professional mechanic with values, it is extremely difficult to deal with the public that wants the exotic but wants to cheap out on the repairs. The mechanic is 100 percent all in and has to stand behind his work in the form of his reputation regardless of the shop's warranty. So installing substandard or cheap aftermarket parts the customer supplies or demands because be is a cheap ass affects the mechanics as much as the shop's reputation.

The 612. One of my faves. I always liked the touring Ferrari's the most, the long nose, the rumbling V12, especially the older Daytonas. $33K for this buggy is a terrific bargain. 99K miles aside, it's a great price. I'll guess the overhaul, throw out bearing, clutch, gaskets etc... $17,000. ( I wonder if I'm close)

With this car, you have a chance to take the right steps now. Getting these guys to do the timing belt, oil change, throw out bearing, clutch, and f1 actuator up front is what I consider a good investment. Changing all the tires is probably a very good idea as well. the leaking shocks, well... they can probably wait until you can source some at a better price. Overall, a nice purchase and there is plenty of space here to do some good sane fixes without getting in way over your head.

Where I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the uber rich in places like Linville Ridge have their Ferraris and Maseratis hauled from Palm Beach to the mountains in special trailers so they can tool around for a few months before shipping their toys back to Florida for the winter. A local auto shop specializing in exotic cars does a land office business and often there are more than a dozen cars sitting outside waiting for service at $300 per hour. Love your work, Crac ... but with respect, not sure why you'd say the XLR was known as the 'Cadillac-Corvette', "but it's NOT"!? The XLR's were built at the Bowling Green Kentucky, Corvette Assembly Plant ... on the same production line as the 2004-2009, C5 and C6 Corvettes. Documented. Cadillac put their body, interior, wheels and NorthStar engine* on C5 & C6 frames, chassis, suspension, transmission and electronics. I've owned a 2004 base XLR that I sold with 154,XXX miles ... and still own a 2006 XLR-V with 36,XXX miles. Except for one hydraulic cylinder on the '04's convertible hardtop, all maintenance issues have been minor and Chevrolet Corvette items. The cars are literally Cadillac body's on Corvette running gear ... how are they "Not" Cadillac-Corvettes (Cadivettes)? * The Cadillac NorthStar DOHC engine was designed using engineering data from GM's subsidiary Lotus, who designed and engineered the 1990-1995 ZR-1 Corvette's LT5 DOHC engine ... so it's even MORE Corvette than most people know. Skal, ^v^

All the best to the new shop, guys! As for the car, Sam, let us see what all the repairs costs total before we find out if it was a good deal or not.

Because they need the money. Sam is independently wealthy and this is a hobby to him. And the work the goonies do is horrible. I can’t even watch that channel anymore. It seems like it’s target audience now is 12-14 yo boys and girls who just watch since the Russian guys are good looking. Worst “auto-rebuild” channel on RU-vid.

The 612 is MAD expensive to maintain! It has essentially the same engine as the Enzo 😬😬 good luck Sam!!
@abes3925
@abes3925 3 года назад
No it doesn’t. It has the old V12 from the Ferrari F575 .The 599 got the Enzo engine tho.

Certainly a good deal on the purchase price, but after watching numerous videos of work on used Ferraris, it is way too rich for my finances to deal with. Buying it is one thing, maintaining is a whole other headache. Loved the video, thank you.

I think Sam got a giant viewer boost exactly because of that green Ferrari. Ferrari's are nice but personally i was more interested in that BMW I8 saga/ordeal. That was a big challenge!
