Well repaired john :-D, well worth the money :-D. Hopefully that battery is ok as there have been rubbish batterys fitted with a controller that lies about the current capacity. Excercise that battery a lot to see how long it really lasts. Hope it's a decent one. We know exactly where you are... your house he he, it's true :-D. I have my mates macbook, a drink of some kind invaded the machine, but the silly sod continued to use it!!. It stopped turning on (no supprise) and he gave it to me to look at, i cleaned the pcb with hot water and a toothbrush and it dissolved the crud very nicely, after drying i applied a fan heater and made it nicely warm. The next day it switched on but the back light was dead, the feed back line from the lights to the chip is shorted to ground, a small pcb burn up. After a carefull scrape all the black was gone but the short remains, the chip is too small for me to fix at the moment. Im supprised it actually booted up after a clean lol.

Thanks Harv 👍 Up to now that battery has had around 5 full charges and seems to be performing rather well.. During light use I'm getting around 4.5 hours from it so much better than the 70 minutes or so from the previous one. It was a nice surprise the lappy booted after cleaning, but to be honest I've had that before with a later Macbook Air, and just like this one you could see the remains of moisture etc on the pcb, so I'm guessing the stuff was hiding under IC's too. So perhaps the legs rotting off one of the main power rails protected the rest of it. Hope you manage to get your mates Mac going Harv 👍

Did u buy the replacement battery off eBay too and how much did it cost? Can u provide a link for it? Also, how's the battery now after a year of usage? Any drastic decrease in battery life after about a year of usage or any problems with charging speed, etc. I'm planning to buy a new battery for my MacBook Air off eBay for $50 AUD, but not sure if it's worth it and safe enough to do so (concerns with battery swelling/exploding, destroying the motherboard, etc). It does come with a 5 year warranty so I think it should be fine.

To be honest it was just a random ebay battery I took a chance on. It still works fine but I only use the laptop every couple of weeks so I normally need to charge it each time I use it. It does hold a good charge though and it lasts a good whilst too (about 5 hrs plus) I would say that it doesn't have the capacity of a geniune battery, but I only paid a tiny amount by comparison for it. Unfortunately the seller on ebay I got it from doesn't exist anymore so I can't provide you with a link.

@@dylanloo9856 I apologise, my mistake it was actually £46 plus delivery.. I was thinking of a Macbook Air 13 I'd also repaired which has a cheaper battery.

It's a chance thing really I'm afraid. I mean if you want a genuine battery the Apple service centre is the place to go . I wasn't particularly bothered as the laptop It was for isn't my daily use machine, so it was worth taking a chance.
