Thanks for this. Seeing the many different spudger types is useful. Please keep the vids coming. Even if you are working on something you think is not interesting, you'd be amazed at what is to us still stuck at home.

You're very welcome Mike & thank you👍You're comments are noted my friend. I've just changed over from using Premiere Pro to Davinci Studio for my editing, so was eager to release a new video to see if there were any complaints with regards the video, audio etc. Fingers crossed 🙂 Thanks again Mike John

@@OrbiterElectronics This vid looked just as good as your previous ones. I didn't spot any difference. Always watched on a 13" Macbook Air and your vids always look and sound good.

Thanks John, always like to see how others make up their cables...took copious notes to file for next opportunity to homebrew more of my own leads!

Hey John, hope all is well. Nice cable, I love those herschermann type bananas plugs. Ive bee using them for years to make cables. I found a little het from the hot air station loosens up the rubber housing to stretch it over a 12 gauge wire, and helps get it back over the metal once its soldered.

Hi Scott, yes all ok here thx mate, hope you're doing OK too. Good idea using the hot air for the connectors, I've actually tried that before on standard 12awg wire and it does work great especially over the metal part of the plug, but those Hirschmann plug covers and this silicone stuff just love to glue themselves to each other. Maybe I need to sacrifice a cover and just try extra heat 👍🔥 😂 Cheers mate John

Hi John! Glad to see you and hear you! May the Lord give you good health and not one virus will touch you !! Thank you so much for the video. I don’t know English very well, I have to translate a little with the dictionary, but this does not stop me from looking and understanding everything. Greetings from Ukraine !!!

Perfect plug fitting john :-D, the resistance from end to end will be just as low as the wire alone :-D You reminded me of the days when i worked in a factory doing electronics and soldering 16mm2 battery cable in to military plugs with monster pins. They were hollow and i did just the same as you did, but i used a 150 watt weller poker soldering iron lol. I bet you have modded old feeler gauges for phone case release, same sort of metal and a rounded end.

Hi Harv, I measured it.. It was -1Ω 😂 I think I've seen those plugs being made somewhere Harv, I always find it interesting to see industrial stuff being made. I do in fact have modded feeler blades, but not for phones as the battery terminals don't like them lol.

@@OrbiterElectronics So 0.5 ohm per lead?. If it's 1 ohm per lead, something is wrong, in my opinion of cause lol.
@OrbiterElectronics
@OrbiterElectronics 4 года назад
Nooo.. I meant the leads are THAT good, they've got an impossible (-) Neg reading LOL 👍

Do you have an idea , how much voltage those selfmade silicone test leads can take ?
@OrbiterElectronics
@OrbiterElectronics 3 года назад
Im not sure what the actual breakdown voltage is, but if your buying silicone wire get it from a reputable place, preferably with its voltage & current rating specified. The stuff I use here is fine up to 10kV I believe, but its only for meter use so as long as it can handle 1kV like standard leads thats fine for me.

@@OrbiterElectronics at the moment i'm working a 2 Electrophoresis power supplies which can deliver 3000V / 150mA. To measure the maximum output voltage, i gonna make a box with a voltage divider which i can hook up between this powersupply and my multimeter. I was thinking for using good quality copper isolated wire in the colors red en black, and place a silicon tube over each lead. First i wanna to use sparkplugcable (sold by meter) with a copper core, rated for 25kv, but that is a bit overkill for just doing measurements.
@OrbiterElectronics
@OrbiterElectronics 3 года назад
@@BjornV78 You could just try some standard silicone cable as its cheap enough in small amounts... See if its ok at 3kV(I'm almost sure it will be) Then assuming it is just get some more 👍
