Thanks, I've had a sleepless night after trying to route all cables in the cockpit, it's a messy job... only to find out the cables were preventing easy movement in the headset area... the fork is designed for front breaking on right lever, which is not the proper way in Belgium... guess I'll have to start all over again!
I bought a €400 aero frame from Airwolf in like...2019. I was very sceptical in the beginning, but it turned out well made and has served me well since then. The bottom bracket and the inside of the frame is very clean and the build went without any issues. The brake mounts were also very well faced so no brake rub, even with the "narrower" spacing between the brake pads for the road R7000 105 groupset I installed on it. So if (hopefully) Airwolf have improved their quality even further, I would say yours was a good buy. :)
Hello George, great to read you had some positive experiences! I've had some headset issues but I think I finally managed to find the sweetspot to have it not failing on me ;-) I really don't like the 'no manual' procedure of these type of frames, the compression plug kept on coming loose, but I did a 90k ride yesterday and everything held up the way it should... Looking forward to put some more mileage in!
Thnx the vid! I want to build up the same frame with a GRX groupset and also Chinese gravel wheels. The frame looks brilliant! 😍 I’m looking forward to you’re next video!
I hope to finish the build by the end of this week... Unfortunately Covid hit our family, so it's all at an easier pace than intended... One thing to mention: the frame (cockpit in particular) already left me frustrated because of the lack of clearance for the cables, it took me hours to get them routed! And after the routing procedure, I had to find out that I made a mistake and will have to rerout it again. So take the pain, or order a stem/steer with an easier internal routing ;-)
@@janhofmann7414 I don't know how to properly articulate it... maybe I just panicked and started disassembling too soon.. 😅🫣 I couldnt get the stem on the steerer tube properly, had some stubborn cables and then I tried to fix it but had issues with the compression ring and having all the cables aligned correctly... I'll elaborate on it in a future vid 🤪
I ordered end of July, got it first week of September to 🇧🇪! Actually it was a not the best first encounter: I just picked up a Cervélo Cal-5 the same day and noticed a big box at my doorstep while my wife wasn't informed just yet! 🫣
Hey, I got the same frame...looks and feels solid, but I have not been able to fit the headset cap flush to the frame (the fully integrated version/ two versions are supplied). I think its no problem, because the the fork has no play in the headset bearing and the bike rides totally ok...it looks a bit odd though ;). Mounting of brake calipers worked fine.
I used the metal compression ring, not the plastic one, i do have a proper fit but it was a bit of figuring out... it's quite a tight fit with all the cables and it feels like it pushes everything upwards, in the end I managed a good fit, though! Not sure about the calipers, front mount is a very tight fit, will have too see once I have done the bleeding and alignment! 😃
@@AndiamoEndurance Yeah, it was quite fiddly. There are two rings, the plastic one and the aluminum one. According to the schematics the aluminum one is used for the semi integrated variant and the plastic ring for the fully integrated variant. I tried both but as mentioned I couldnt get it to sit 100 percent. Luckily I used a SRAM axs system...so just two brake hoses for me...;). Good luck with ther brakes!
@@edwardlow667 I've used the aluminium variant for the fully integrated setup, I used the chat tool of Airwolfs' website and they confirmed it was up to personal preference!
I recently got this frame, tried to build it with Shimano GRX Di2 and you cannot get the gear cable in the rear chainstay. I emailed the manufacturer CWIND and they were rude and had no solution. So I'm having to send it back. Advice was to cut the Di2 cables in two. There is no clearance in the chain stay for a 5mm cable. Avoid frames made by Chasing Wind. Utter crap!
