It looks like you found a piece of heaven on earth, to make it more interesting you could cal it “ caelum in terra “ it’s Latin and spells “ Heaven on Earth. At least if I would ever have the opportunity to buy something as beautiful as this my own land I would call it something like that. Your house plans look beautifull. Concider to plan for a sleeping area that will not be hell hot in summer and icy cold in winter. Your mezzanine will be a good storage area.

Your acres in Portugal look good. In winter or spring, cut the fig trees low to the ground. Must of the figs are on new growth, so you will have many more figs if you take out half of the taller old growth. The house looks pleasant. Here in France I use a "split" heat pump system for cooling. Looks like you might need one there, too. Are you on the East or West side of the country? Yes, with all that water you can go crazy planting citrus and other food forest trees. If you don't wish to use chemicals, then it is hard to keep the fruits healthy. Figs take care of themselves, somehow. The birds eat most of mine, but there are a lot left over. Zucchini and cherry tomatoes seem okay, as well. Just don't count on a food forest. I have an income and don't need the land for survival. I think you are in the same situation, or I hope so. Wish I were you and starting again. Good luck.

I congratulate you !! I know a lot of countries (or may be continents) and selected Coimbra as an 72 yo widower from Argentina in 2021, where I was born. As a boy I went to school in Hamburg, My mother left me a house there in the 70s. To improve my English I lived in Teignmouth in the UK. And I visited family from Lithuania in the USA. That´s only a glimpse, there is more. It´s only to tell you that Portugal is a marvelous place.
