Wow. Congrats on getting it back. I have a left hand drive and live in cape town SA. U so lucky to have a right hand drive. Only 3 of these left in our country. All left hand imports.
I loved KR as a kid in the 80s. To have the real thing then have to sell it would have killed me inside if that was me. Glad you have back and making it screen accurate as possible.
Lovely to see a right hand drive version (Im in Scotland) I have never seen one before and what a great example! Great Vid but the music is ear bashing.

I was looking for info on my 1970 VW Bug when I came across your video on buying back your K.I.T.T. Being a long time Knight Rider fan, I was very happy you were able to get him back after seven years, then I found out you own Herbie too? I was hooked and subscribed. Your car is the first R.H.S. K.I.T.T. I've seen and I think it's Awesome, in fact, it's Unique. If Knight Rider was created in Australia, would that make it wrong?, I think not, it's Still K.I.T.T. I'm going to end with this.. It would be cool if you could have the design of the hood flipped so the vent is on the right and have the Knight Logo on the steering wheel flipped as well.

I was womdering if u can cut the door some inches off from the bottom up & weld it to the door sill that way theres not such a big ol door lifting up & put a r35 engine in it Maybe even make the seating area black and where your back Goes & the rest the same tan colour IDK it still looks good the way it is Im just saying since the rims & doors are diff!!
Nicely done but the wheels and steering wheel orientation are incorrect so the vehicle will never be screen correct unless those are corrected. Kitt was left hand drive and had turbo wheels with moon style covers. Also the doors opened conventionally not Gull wing style.
All correct, if you watch the next videos in the build series you will see that the doors have been changed back, the 15” turbocast wheels have been bought and restored. As far as the RHD, I live in Australia and all my movie cars are as close to screen accurate as I can get apart from the right hand drive steering conversion for everyday practicality
@@HeathsGarage okay that's great I'm glad you're restoring most of it back to the way it should be for screen accuracy but as far as everyday driveability and practicality what's practical about having a kitt car? When I look at that dashboard I feel like I'm in the Twilight zone. Don't take offense my friend it's just very weird not the fact that it's right hand drive and you're in Australia the fact that it's just opposite of what it should be.

I dig it ...the right hand drive threw me though lol good call on ditching the lambo doors ...I've always wanted to build a kitt just never had enough time it looks great I'm guessing your throwing a 350 in it
@@HeathsGarage Hha, yeah I went with a 400SBC running the LS1 computer conversion and it runs great, only problem it has is getting traction :D Just tired of oil leaking so that's why I'm going LS1, possibly with a turbo setup. I'll miss the 400 though.
Yeah, they need to go haha But for now I will have the 15” turbocast rims as per the show so I can get some pics of KITT and Herbie together as they were seen on the TV 😎

@@HeathsGarage Ah cool. Well I'm chasing a bonnet/hood (fibreglass is fine), blackout rear panel and the front deflectors (goes on the front on the fenders from the front of the wheel arch on thr bottom to the bumper). I'de love to put a variation of the KITT dahs in, but the cost of the electronics for those seems ridicilous, plus I'm 6'4 and the dahs looks like it eats up a lot of leg room especially for passengers. :P

Kitt was based on an American car but in Sri.lanka there old cars that look like kitt the Mazda astina is cars that can be turned into kitt but need lots of modifications

I'm sorry but the right-hand driver setup is throwing the whole thing off for me along with those upraising doors. That is just not KITT. Knight Rider was an American show with the steering wheel on the left side. It's unfortunate that folks living in the UK have to make such a drastic alteration. The driver is supposed to be seated behind the hood scoop. It looks so wrong seeing the driver sitting in what is the passenger seat in America. I'm glad to hear you are getting the correct wheels. The car looks nice on the outside but as soon as you open the doors....
Years ago when these were imported the only way to have them as daily drivers they had to be converted to right hand drive here in Australia. The same with Mustangs, Camaro’s etc Having KITT RHD in a RHD country does make things a lot easier - registration, drive throughs, parking lots etc The doors are being fixed as we speak as stated in the video, I have also just got the 15” turbocast rims back from powder blasting - so looking forward to making KITT look better than ever I also have a right hand drive Herbie and Marty McFly 4x4
Kevin Appleton So because I live in a RHD car country I can’t build my dream cars? Because the original was LHD? If you look at my other car builds you will see, that other than them being RHD - they are basically screen accurate
So glad you are getting rid of the lambo doors, would you try to get stock turbocast rims or are you gonna stick with the dish ones? Engine wise, I be its gonna be an LS1, has to be 🤔 will be an animal with an LS1 especially if you have an LSD rear end.
Yeah, those doors really don’t belong on KITT. I have a set of 15” turbocast rims getting powder blasted and restored now. I also have the correct external door bump strips used on the show - KITT will be like my Herbie (as close to screen accurate as I can make him - but with more power 😎) I have a LS1 here - but still thinking I could go bigger 😏
@@HeathsGarage sounds amazing, trust me even a stock 330bhp LS1 is plenty. The chassis and shell cant cope with much more before it starts to twist especially on the t top cars.
Did you not watch the entire video? The doors were done by the guy I sold it too 7 years ago and are being removed as we speak :) Also, I live in Australia and my car is right hand drive - hence the right hand drive dash
A nice exterior only KITT will be around the $30-$40k mark A exceptional KITT will be upwards of $80k There is a very nice one for sale now in Australia for $75k
Because I live in Australia and to drive these American cars on the streets here years ago they had to be converted to RHD I also have a RHD Herbie and Marty McFly truck
If I ever got as lucky as you and owned kitt I would definitely do it. I am not into drifting or racing but I want mine to be different and they are very reliable engine's. Well that's just my opinion I know you will be having better options and know how about cars then a guy like me. Keep up the good work 👍
We have quite a few RHD Trans Ams here in Australia (I have owned two) I think NZ have a few aswell - but they are pretty rare To be fair even LHD Trans Ams are getting rare now
Those rims and door hinges are now off and back to how they should be. As I’m in Australia, having RHD cars makes sense. I also have a RHD Herbie and Marty McFly 4x4 😁
@@HeathsGarage of course I understand that in Australia you drive to the right and it it makes perfect sense just saying which is the original you understand how I say it,I don't mean any harm I love the car but to be exact to the original kitt...
@@audreyseddon9749 Well technically KITT's engine was a turbojet with modified afterburners, but I suppose an electric motor could work if you mounts some speakers under the wheel wheels and have the KITT wooooshing engine noise playing from them :D
