Sounds and looks amazing!! Freya is my suggestion for a name. It’s a German potato variety and the name means “a noble woman”. Freya is also the Norse goddess of beauty, love and fertility.

Congratulations! my dad was a part of the 5 cyl construction team of the cooling system back in the 70s and my wifes favorite race driver was Michelle as well, her room was full of posters and model cars. greetings from Ingolstadt!

Brought a tear to my eye to see your Quattro. I was at Pikes Peak in 1985 when Michele Mouton won overall. That was the first time I had heard the sound of anti lag. Sounded like 12 gauge shot gun fire on deceleration. I’ll never forget how pissed Bobby Unser was that a woman had taken the record! You done good girl.

That brings back memories from being stationed in Germany 1983-1986, I watched a few rally races there, cars were fast, the courses were challenging and the teams were tenacious.The different sounds from the different manufacturers you could hear before the cars came to your part of the course was awesome. Thanks for bringing those memories back.

Five cylinders certainly have their own unique sound. I remember hearing about these when I was a kid as I had an uncle who ran an Audi/VW dealership back then. I'm sure that by the time your done with it there won't be any turbo lag. Looking forward to more unusual and unique adventures with Sarah on this one!

Congratulations! Nice spec too! I had a couple of these in my time- the tinted rear lights and strip were standard as a facelift from about 1985 in Europe. The condition of your car is crazy good for its age. Tuning these 10v cars can be restrictive because of the efi, I owned a 20v conversion which had full electronic efi and was running 380 bhp at about 1.4 bar, there was a ton of other mods but it looked standard from outside. The 10v definitely has a better sound- you are so right!! 😃

Awesome car Sarah! I have a 83 also. Back in 1989, still in high school, I was working as a detailer at local Porsche/Audi dealership. I remember seeing this funny looking car sitting in back of lot. It had been abandoned by a customer. At that time I knew it was kinda different but didn't realize how unique it was. ( I was 17yrs old) Finally got dealership to sell it to me for what was owed on service bill. (approx $1800) It was a bit tired but solid with only 82,000 miles. I spent an entire summer servicing & repairing everything to get it in top mechanical shape. Following winter the body shop guys painted it for me. Paint was mostly faded & luckily it had no accident damage or rust. Still have the car to this day. Gets plenty of attention

Great choice. I have owned 12 Audi cars and two were 5 cylinder engines. I have been driving Audis since 1983. I have a 2018 Audi A8 V6 petrol mid hybrid. I have enjoyed them all.

Congrats Sarah! When I was working at a copier dealer in the early 80's, one of the guys that would join us after work for a beer or two, was a Audi service manager at the local dealer. He would talk about the NEW Audi Quattro and how cool they were. He eventually gave me a ride in one, needless to say I was super impressed! Way to go Sarah, you've earned it!!!!!

I had (and still have) an Audi A90 and those 5cyl 5 spds are freaking amazing. The length of those gears are designed for the Autobahn and have so much range, pull & torque, that I've never felt anything like it. =D

I got the exact same exterior combo in Australia. Although I have cloth interior and the digital speedo ('86), also a 10v. I defiantly underestimated them before I drove one, they would of been king of the road in their day. One cool thing I found is the sunroof unclips and you can store it in the boot

Big up respect for anyone owning a UR Quattro. One of my absolute fave motors. Would absolutely love a late 20v. As for name suggestions I thought Lamb Chop ( Michelle Mouton - Mutton), Keeley, after Keeley Hawes who played in Life on Mars which featured a UR Quattro and is a definite must watch or perhaps Alex, the character Keeley plays in the show, though personally I think Keeley Quattro has a ring to it. Either way I’m looking forward to seeing more of this. P.S. treat yourself to a torsen centre diff as fitted to later cars. The transformation is well worth the effort.

Congrats on the "new" at least to you classic Audi. Mint is a good word t describe it, it's in amazingly great shape for a 38 year old car. I grew up following the rallying (from New Zealand) through the 80's and this was an icon. There is a RU-vid clip of the Audi screaming through the NZ back country that gives goose bumps. Terrific choice of car, AND terrific example to find. Amazing. There is the classic red one of these that I see every now and then and nod with approval. Like you say, not many people will realize what this car is. High percentage of your followers would! I vote for Audrey Q as the name. Someone else in the comments posted the suggestion first. That was my first thought while watching the clip.

I’m so jealous, it’s gorgeous. It’s pretty collectible though, so I hope whatever mods you do, that you keep everything and be able to revert to original, but that doesn’t really matter. I loved watching these things clean up back in the 80s in the wrc, the look and the sound is amazing on your version ,my favorite thing on old turbos is the lag ... Modern turbos have power through the entire power band but cars like yours are special .. you get to enjoy reving it before it comes on boost .that's so cool ....it's a credit to you and your hard work I can't wait to see content on what for me was a car I always wanted when I was growing up

Congratulations. I hope you enjoy it. I saw these cars back in the day rallying - also driven by Detective Chief Inspector Hunt in "Life on Mars" TV series, which was set in 80's UK. Whenever going after a "crim" Hunt would yell out "Fire up the Quattro !" and there would be a car chase.

As for a name for the car, My wife's name is Michelle, however family and close friends never call her Michelle, they ALL call her Chelle (pronounced like shell). It's more endearing and cute. so you get the reference to Michele Mouton but its not too "on the nose."

I got to borrow one of those for a month, some 15 years ago now. it is still stuck in my mind as THE. MOST. CHARMING. CAR. of it`s era that i have ever driven! It was n`t the fastest, and definitely not the most nimble, but boy, oh boy did it have personality. And sound, LOTS of sound! So a 3" stainless steel exhaust is highly recommended. But in short, congrats to a GREAT choice of car!

Wow, I went to the west coast this summer to buy a classic that I wanted too! I flew out and test drove it on the campus of Stanford University and had it shipped back east. It hadn't been east of Sacramento it's whole life before that. It's a 1951 Buick, so a whole different type of car. I still can't believe I own it. I love that you love the Audi Quattro! I went to the Chicago Auto Show in 1985 (might have been '83). Audi had a rally car on their stand. What stood out to me was that it was truly a competition care; the paint on the wheels was very chipped as was the paint on the car. It was Awesome!

What a car! The Quattro Legend. This is a great example. I remember watching Walter Rohl, Stig Blomqist, Michelle Mouton rallying these beasts in Group B. The sound of them in the forests at midnight approaching flat out was amazing. My dad bought a new Audi 80 Sport in 1984 which I learned to drive on.
