Pro tip from a bridal sales person: If you have a small stain on your dress, use a qtip and horse shampoo! Spray the dress with some distilled water so it is lightly damp and work the shampoo in gently until the stain lifts. Use a hairdryer on a low setting and feather out your movements so it dries nicely and leaves no trace! ❤️

Mia! You should do a “returns video” but it’s actually stuff around your house and your moms house (like stuff in their garage or not often used appliances like instant pot or something. Or throw pillows and shoes.) it would be funny to see how long it takes for them to realize it’s their stuff 🤣

I've worked in a few wedding boutiques. I was the person that would take the new gowns out of the shipping boxes, steam them (to get out the wrinkles) and hang them on the sample racks. I got a look at the invoices which were in the boxes--Bridal shops make a 500% markup compared to what they pay wholesale. Considering that most gowns are made overseas in sweatshops, a gown that might cost $200.00-$500.00 U.S. dollars to make, will end up costing you $8,000.00 to $10,000.00 once everyone gets their piece of the pie. Do yourself and your bank account a favor and buy used or through online auctions like you did here.

There weren't mermaid dresses in these boxes, though, they were fit-and-flare style dresses :) True mermaid dresses start flaring out way lower, below the knees. (yes... I may have seen way too many "Say yes to the dress" videos xD )

I used to own a bridal shop. The commercial stain remover we use was just repackaged expensive stuff you get at the Dollar Tree usually called Awesome Orange or other variations of that name, usually in an opaque clear bottle and smells citrus-like. It will take almost anything out and does not stain the dress.

Hey Mia~ Fellow Canadian, long-time subscriber here! So a little backstory, I'm already married but my husband and I had to have a City Hall wedding due to extraneous circumstances. And while I'm so happy to be his wife (3 years this month!), I was always a little heartbroken that we never got to celebrate our love in the way we always wanted to. I wore a white summer dress that didn't fit well and didn't feel that pretty in, I didn't get to 'walk down the aisle', we didn't even get to exchange vows. Now that it's safer to have larger gatherings, we plan to have an official wedding, with seating charts, a first dance, and all the people we love. I haven't had a chance to try on any wedding dresses at this point, and honestly, I'm hesitant because I'm uncomfortable with the weight I am now, but something absolutely struck me with that last dress. Maybe it was the way Mama Mia absolutely glowed in it or the fact that it had pockets, but I was smitten. If for whatever reason you find yourself willing to part with the last dress, I'd be so incredibly honoured to wear it on our special day (I'm roughly a size 20-22 in wedding dresses). If not, I completely understand but would really appreciate if you'd be willing to share the name and designer of the dress if you happen to know it. I'm pretty sure the bug/shell thing is what we call woodlice in the UK. When they die, they kind of ball up like that and you often find them in old boxes/suicases etc exactly like that.

I bought a sample dress for my wedding at the bridal boutique for $125. They would sell those discounted when the dresses were no longer being made/discontinued. I was pretty happy since I didn't have the money for the 1k plus gowns they had to order from and the dress was pretty. It's a great option for people who want a beautiful dress but can't afford to order one that's still being manufactured.

Can I say that I love Mia's mom for repping mature women and proving you can pull off a fabulous dress at any age. Not to steal Mia's wedding thunder, but we need a momma/daddy Maples vow renewal ceremony featuring one of these dresses.

I used to work in a wedding gown sample store. We would sell gowns that were discontinued samples from our sister stores. Sometimes there would be minor damage or stains on the gowns, but bridal shops try to take really good care of their samples. We would tell our brides to take the gowns to a dry cleaner before the wedding and ask for a spot cleaning treatment. Overall buying sample gowns is a really good way to get a beautiful gown for a discounted price.

I bought my wedding dress on Saturday! And it was actually a sample. The boutique had a Sample Sale and sold all their samples 30% off. So samples don't always end up in one of those boxes but are sold to brides-to-be. I LOVE my dress and I am so happy I got a good discount!
