I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

Nice to see stores branching out and trying to lower the barrier to entry to golf. My first set was $10 from a thrift shop, worked just fine. I know too many people personally who quit golf before they even started because they thought they needed a $1,500 set to start off with.

same. first set of clubs were an brand Acuity for $200 USD 12 yrs ago. came with Driver, 3 W, 3H, 4-SW and Putter with head covers for the woods and hybrid. deals like this a great for beginners to get them into the game. Lowers cost of entry.

If anyone is thinking of getting these, I'd recommend them as a starting set. I've used the full set version of these for the last year, and gotten to a half decent standard with them without too many worries. The driver (and to some extent, the woods) is very weak though, and I didn't find it very forgiving (I cant strike it pure like Rick can). So if you have a bit of swing speed, that will probably be your first replacement. And any premium driver from the last 15 years will likely be better. But the irons are not bad at all. I got the graphite shafts, and they feel a bit whippy for my swing speed, but otherwise I'm not in the biggest rush to upgrade them still. Putter is ok. I actually quite like the feel of it, now that I'm used to it. Driver is definitely the biggest downside in my experience, but otherwise this is a set that can last many beginners for quite a while, I reckon. Oh, the bag has also taken an awful lot of abuse from me without issues. Leg extension mechanism is temperamental and flimsy, but otherwise its sturdy and has plenty of room.

I've got the full set of these as well and I agree 100%. As a fully beginner golf, they haven't turned me off golf at all which is the main thing. I'm yet to play on a course but when I do, I doubt I'll use the driver as it feel ways too flimsy and light for myself (not that I know what I'm on about) but the irons and even the woods/hybrid seem perfectly fine for my capacities. I bought the Kirkland wedges as well to fully complete my golf bag so I feel like the embodiment of Rick's cheap club videos haha.

@@yatesy3455 That's funny. I literally had the Kirkland wedges delivered today. I did have an assortment of other wedges I bought super cheap off of Gumtree (£10 each), but I'm looking forward to having a full matching set. Also got a Titleist 910 D2 for £85 last week, which is vastly better than the package set driver. If only I could stop duck hooking it. It's either 170yrds into the trees on the left, or 270 down the fairway. More often the former, sadly.

Far too often I hear beginners being told that they "can't learn with those clubs" etc, when they arrive with a cheap/old set. Rick does a great job here of demonstrating yet again that learning the right technique and putting in proper practise is far more important than fancy clubs for a beginner!

still depends on your move... I can pull those off now that I do not swing like I used to... If you are quick in transition these will never work.... I used to rent clubs like this when travelling out of the country to play and as young buck I could never slow it down enough to make it work. Today I for sure can make something work with flimsy... I also club fit for a living and most people think they suck until they get fit then they realize holy shit there is some game in me... Your not going on tour anytime soon but instead of 3 wow shots a round, being fit correctly should have you feel 10+ of those shots a round... but if you don't have but more than $250 and want to start then by all means grab them and see if you like the game... When you get better then its time to graduate...

I'd be interested to see you play the same 9 holes with both sets. I think it would be closer than most think. Scoring well in golf is more about course management than equipment. I see too many people with expensive new equipment at max handicap. You can't buy good scores!

Can't wait to see the challenge video, love the ideas you're pumping out this year! As for the set, I'd absolutely love to give this to my friend. He just got into golf last year, and bought some clubs on Facebook marketplace for about $60. A million clubs came with it, none of which are easy for him to hit. They're mostly forged irons with tiny heads, drivers with super small heads, ect. But he still loves getting out there to play with me, and I wish I could get him some clubs to help him out a bit more and enjoy it, maybe grow into a golf nut similar to me one day. Thank you for constantly doing cheap club reviews and giveaways, they're probably some of the favorite videos on the channel. They show that golf is more and more becoming a sport for everyone. From someone who works at a private country club who houses elitist members, I want more of this, more people playing despite financial constraints

I did something similar with a set from amazon. A year later im still using the irons, and ive gone for a proper driver fitting. Great idea to get into the game or even just pitch and putt but will become hand-me-downs once you get comfortable and want some nicer feeling/quality equipment. But thats not a bad thing if you give them to someone considering starting!

Love your golf videos Rick. From the states- every video is class. Great videography, great commentary- great attitude. Wish you the best! I would LOVE to see one of two things. 1. A group up putting series. I misalign putts regularly- and generally just feel uncomfortable putting. 2. How to improve balance in the shot. I would love to swing a golf club and not fall over, or forward, or come out of my swing.

I had a Ben Sayer 3 iron as a kid about 45 years ago, i got used to it and used to knock it miles much to the shock of older golfers who hated long irons , i think the older clubs were more blade looking, brilliant video Rick, i did the same bought a cheap set and worked my way up, i was a massive Wilson fan for years, and 10 years ago switched to Taylor Made, they reaaly took my game to another level, and my confidence with the driver went through the roof, no first tee nerves, just boom very time.

My first set of clubs was a set of Lynson Meteor back in 96, I eventually upgraded the Metal Woods to King Cobra but played them 'till I broke 90, gave them to my younger brother. He still plays them. You really can get around with any old half decent set of clubs and have a lot of fun without spending big $$. Looking forward to the challenge!

I remember my first set was from a local hardware store. They were a Spalding set. To this day I still absolutely love that sand wedge. Some days I even wish I still had it. I would love to hand a set like this to my son as he is getting started.

This is an important video because it’s all about getting people into golf. I bought the Strata starter set last summer as it was an affordable way to get into the game. I started players loads and, as I improved, realised I needed something better to improve length in particular. These clubs will do the same, introduce people to the game and, if they love playing, they can upgrade to better clubs.

I went to take a look around to see if the lofts of the clubs were listed to see how balanced they were gapped and it's not too shabby even there. Lofts: D: 10.5 3W: 15 HY: 23 (Of course as you covered these three) 6I: 27 8I: 34 PW: 44 SW: 56 Putter 3.5 (Credit to Golf Online) The one I found actually had a more complete option too with 4 more clubs to fill it out more: 5W: 20 5I: 24 7I: 30 9I: 39 So overall, it indeed looks like a pretty good balanced set for the price! I was also surprised to see how the putter was as that's not a usual shape you get from one of these sets. But in a good way. For that driver arrow paint, it's likely possible to get it off some way without taking off the spot you want. Perhaps by taping off the arrow's line and then polishing it off or carefully scraping away at it with a blade. I do wonder what caused it though. Like you thought it was maybe putting the head cover on too early, but I'd think you would have noticed paint on the inside or on the cover. So my guess is the machine that stamped it on flubbed or a employee smudged it somehow and it got missed.

As always, a super video. I would have been happy to have a set like this when I started. Here in Germany I haven't seen it at Aldi yet. A video with a beginner and this set on your home course would also be great.
