As a die hard Top Gear fan IMHO you guys have nailed it. Adventure in a car doesn't have to be in some exotic location or have British accents. Its the mix of, your personalities, with your cars, and the obvious and genuine camaraderie between the three of you. Without too much hyperbole, for me, you've well filled the gap that Top Gear (UK) left behind. PS I'd be willing to bet you could invite the UK old top gear guys to participate and they'd agree to join you in your automotive shenanigans. Looking forward to the third installment.

Both Car Trek's have been BRILLIANT to watch, loved everything about both series. It's as genuine as any Top Gear because you guys are just buddies who love cars doing some fun adventures with cars. Stoked for Car Trek 3, will be looking out for that. Also; tell AutoTempest they need to start operating in the UK; I would use them just for sponsoring Car Trek, never mind that it looks a superb tool.

I'm happy one of the cars from here are being showcased in CarTrek! It's awesome! The thing about that Aston (what I've heard) is that it stayed parked for a while with no service whatsoever, also on a side note I'll recommend you checking Instagram pages on what cars we have in Colombia (Extravagant Cars Col), not many as the States, but at least we've got few Ferrari's, a LaF and lot's of Porsches

Ed, I bought a Lotus Exige S last month going off one of your videos and absolutely love the car. I got it at below market using some shrewd negotiation and financed it through Woodside Credit. The best part is i found it on craigslist in Denver using Auto tempest. Flew out there on a Saturday morning and drove it 27 hours back to Florida. Thank you and the channel for all the knowledge!

And an Aston in Columbia may not have belonged to a dealer, but in Cartagena it would be a safe beat the money it was purchased with was not too far removed from the trade. But there would be no need for secret compartments in such a car.. management does deal with assembly.

I was in Cartegenga Columbia in 1988, for a port visit when I was in the Navy. I was thrilled to be there, because I loved the Cobra scene from the movie Romancing the Stone. I remember being in the tourist part of the city, and there were guys with backpacks who would come up to you and ask, "Marijuana, cocaine? Marijuana, cocaine?" I said no and retired 18-years later.

Haven't watched car trek2 yet but you guys are replacing the the whole left by top gear so thankyou.

Autotempest is actually great. I stalked it recently for about 2 months to find my dream ‘18 C63S. Being able to check so many websites allowed me to be super informed on market pricing when it came down to finding a good deal and negotiating (and allowed me to find a clean model w/out mods)

Hey Ed! In case you want a bit of insight that could be helpful. Cartagena is basically Colombia's Miami. A beautiful modern city besides de ocean, with a touch of Spaniard architecture integrated with modern technology and buildings (without mentioning the colonial fortress that surrounds the "old city"). Hence, you tend to see a lot of wealth and luxury over there. Also, the roughness likely is due to how bad the roads between cities and within can be (there's a reason why the Land Cruiser is a go-to for expensive SUV's there). Additionally, the bad service could be influenced by the limited amount of dealers or "certified" mechanics from super car makers. About the origin, Cartagena is one of the biggest port cities of Colombia making it probable that it was registered only to be shipped to the US. Yet, the car probably spent most of its time in a economically bigger city as the capital, Bogotá, which notoriously has horrible roads (even in the highways lol). The "lower-spec" versions of many luxury vehicles is due to the Colombian Peso exchange rate, compared to the $/£/€, being significantly lower even though the purchasing power per unit of local currency is similar to the US or EU. One must also consider the incredibly high import tariffs for new vehicles (which only allows next/current year make vehicles to be imported). As a result, the sticker price tends to be even higher than regular markets would have it. In other words, that a "drug-lord" was the previous owner is a feasible answer to the car's origin but I would argue that any other lawfully and decently wealthy citizen could've been the owner. Anyway, awesome story Ed! Thank you for the content (:
