The only integrated graphics solutions that came close to the GeForce 210/8400 were the GeForce 9400 IGP and GeForce 320 IGP (both part of the Ion platform and used in some Core 2 Apple products from late 2008 until everything moved to Sandy Bridge). Maybe the ATI Xpress 3200 as well, but I’m not sure it supported DX10.

I build a Athlon II X3 435( with a 4th unlockable core)+ motherboard and a GTX 465 for about 50 euros, I used a HDD I basically got for free with some ram I also got for free, a case for 10 bucks and yeah the psu I initially got for free but I had a really loud pop when I was overclocking, and after swapping out some parts it appears the psu might have died. I'm gonna try it in a couple of minutes and see if that thing works again it's some old generic PSU that gives 450W which should have been plenty for the set up, it uses around 350-380W max if I recall correctly. Also I think it's probably dead I've had bad stuff with computers before but it was hella loud and yeah luckily nothing but that got damaged everything else is running as it Should. But ignoring the hick ups it's still really good for gaming ( less good for general usuage cuz if the hdd but a SSD would definitely fix that.) I can play most games on medium settings around 60fps( kinda depends what game exactly but deep rock galactic runs with medium and ultra settings ( textures in ultra the rest in medium). It did get a bit more expensive but the psu but before that it was a great deal. Still is a fun build though

Be careful putting a C2Q in, I tried that and it wouldnt run right and they get stupid hot.

This will ACTUALLY support a firepro wx4100 card which is pretty close in performance to an rx560 turning this into a pretty capable gaming rig at least for esports titles like CS:GO, especially with the aforementioned core 2 quad thrown in...you also have the option of using an x-series Xeon as the bios has built-in support for those too...I know because I got one of these absolutely free, maxed out the ram to 8gb ddr2 that I had laying around, threw in the wx4100 with 4gb video mem and an x3370 Xeon and honestly not bad at all for the price! It'll run most of the latest games believe it or not, great value even in 2020 and I did all this WITHOUT changing the power supply too!!!

I have one of these I am using as a media machine on a TV, but it could, in fact, be used for light gaming if you upgrade/mod it a bit. I flashed a custom BIOS on mine and installed a cheap quad-core Xeon along with 8GB of DDR3 RAM. I added a $5 Radeon HD 7450, that I have a few of lying around anyway, for some basic graphics output. It can actually run some old or simple games OK, despite being an aging, weaker OEM card. It's only 25w, so besides fitting in the half-height slot, it can run off the low MB PCIe power. I would suggest something else though if intended for light gaming, perhaps the Nvidia GT 1030 variant with DDR4 RAM. While inferior to the normal GT 1030, it only requires 20W draw from the PCIe slot.

I bought this same system so my parents could have a computer. Upgrading to an SSD is a must, otherwise this PC will grind to a halt long-term. Probably the best graphics card that power supply will support is a low profile GT 1030 DDR5, but a low profile RX 550 *may* work (50W TDP), but out of price range for this PC. Definitely upgrade to 8GB of PC6400 RAM for only $20 USD. Finally, you can upgrade the CPU to a Core 2 Quad Q9650. I'm really happy with this system since upgrading to SSD.

socket 775 and AM3 are fun to mess around with. I got a PC store near my house and go dumpster diving there occasionally (the owner is cool with it). Currently using a Phenom II x4 and 270x. Upgrade these old systems a bit and for light gaming and everyday use they still work just fine.

The GMA 965/945 has poorly ported drivers for Windows 10. The wddm version included in Windows works for light usage but everything with more DirectX usage was glitchy and problematic
@braxtonbunner4990
@braxtonbunner4990 4 года назад
I have the GMA 965. You can go to Windows Catalog download store and download the DirectX, OpenGL drivers for Vista/7 from there. Otherwise, no OpenGL support, and very poor DirectX performance. I have Win 10 64 PRO, and the drivers work great. I have an Intel T7400 paired along with it also with the max 4 GB of RAM the chipset supports. Not a bad system for being 13 years old. Good for web browsing, and very old gaming if you're curious.

Great video. I'm still rocking an old Dell Studio PC, from around 2010? It had a Core 2 Quad. I've upgraded the RAM, put in a SATA SSD, and added a new power supply and a 660ti. Good enough for the community computer in our house and my daughter plays Sims 4 and other light weight games. I travel a lot, so I have a nice laptop for video and photo editing. But I may be doing budget build. (600-1k) for the family soon... Thanks for all of the videos and tips. Keep them coming.

there may be a latch to pul back in order to re-seat the side panel. IIRC, it may be built into the padlock loop (the piece f metal with a hole on chassis and panel). I work in IT repair, 20+ years now, these were pretty standard machines for the state of CT, and again iirc, that side panel needs a lever that is hidden as part of the mechanism for locking up the case.
@kjellvb1979
@kjellvb1979 4 года назад
Actually on that model it may be a piece of black plastic on the top or side (depending on orientation) of the machine that pushes in to allow the side panel to slide into place.

I might get myself one of these, would be a nice little emulation machine - maybe put in a gtx 750 ti low profile, a 2tb external hard drive full of roms from Atari 2600 to PS1 and Dreamcast, a cheap wired PS3 controller; all of which I've already got laying about and I'm all set to stave off boredom during the inevitable forthcoming second lockdown. For around the £50 mark this is an absolute bargain! 😀👍

Not bad at all, especially that it has a mouse, keyboard and monitor included, and a wi-fi adapter :) That was probably an older Wi-Fi 802.11n 2.4GHz only adapter (I have a few myself) which is fine for most things. Of course if you want the best performance and don't want Ethernet, use a PCI card, not that you'll fit one in that case! The mouse looked to be a modern HP (my university has loads of those HP laser mice) but I'm not liking the Windows XP based clunky keyboard! That would have to go. And the legacy Dell monitor? Ok for the basics. Not my preferred type of monitor (not widescreen), but it'll do :) Good deal for £50 there, and can't believe the GT210 came in handy :D

Nice Video, i bought a cheap full setup as well the last month for 80€. I got a Intel i3 2100 with a decent Msi mobo, with 4gb of DDR3, 500W Discutible PSU brand, Ati hd 5450, 500gb HDD and 60gb ssd, PCI-E Wifi Card with a crappy bluethoot usb reciver, mouse + keyboard and a LG 22'' Led Monitor. Oh and all in a nice Cooler Master Case with 120'' fan included in the case. That was hilarius since the seller discount me 10-15€ without say nothing to him and looks very relieved after sell it. I haven't so much experience with used stuff and craiglist, initially i think he is gonna scam me but the setup after some cleaning and maintenance works well. It's nice to be lucky sometimes and find decent deals like UK and US RU-vidrs. In my country the same pc only (same parts used/refurbished) cost easily almost 200€.

This was my exact PC until a few months ago. All I had to do was swap in a quad core processor, eight gigs of ram, and an old 1 gig 9800 GT and it ran most games up until a few years ago just fine. All told the set up cost me about $85 and served me well for about five years while I was low on cash.

This machine actually had a deeper upgrade path thanks to the spare parts aftermarket. Boards from the 760/960 give you a q45 chipset with DDR2 support (8GB max), the 780 gives you a q45 chipset and DDR3 support (16GB max), and the 980 is a soclet 1156 board that is a direct fit and supports 16GB of DDR3. I don’t remember on the 760, but the 780 board and 980 I have both support up to 75 watt cards (my 980 has a Radeon R7 250 in it). I’d offer my 780 board and a e6700 Pentium Dual Core (3.2 GHz) for the cost of shipping if you ever wanted to do a video about upgrading one of these.

You should totally throw a low profile AMD Firepro W2100 in there (if you can find a cheap used one). 26 watt max (supposedly) should work... you could always underclock it slightly just to make sure it doesn't pull too much. But it's 2GB ram, DirectX 12, actual modern drivers.

Nice to see that everything had been set up for you… So very convenient… While I'm thinking are you crazy? Yes someone else set this up which means it could have hidden malware! She doesn't sound like a safe experience at all. I would not connect something like this to my network at all because who knows what it's doing in the background. If I was going to be this frugal I would at least remove the HDD and replace it with a brand-new store-bought one to make certain it never had anything on it to begin with

About that 25W PCIe limit - I've read somewhere that it's related to add-in cards other than GPUs and you can put one in safely. I've yet to test that on my HP dc5800 which also has this printed on the MB, but so far 8600GT wasn't giving any issues.
