Nick Pate is a good dude. There were several shots where you can see him trying to use his body english to get the shots to fall for his friend that he knew was having a rough go of it.
You guys really got hosed with the ball banning timing. Really feel for you. You're a great bowler, nice to see you making the most of it with the straight bowling, looks like Frankie ended up doing the same. At least its good to know that is an option. Hang in there.
Frankie was able to play straight because his rev rate is really low, so he was hooking it, just not from where everyone else was due to how he plays. He's always much further right than anyone else
Mad respect to you Darren. I hope you provide a debrief of what changes in your physical/mental game and/or equipment if any are going to be implemented as a result of this tournament. I'm not going to lie I'm looking forward to another series of League Night videos! LOL!
Just subscribed. I took 30 years off league bowling while I worked 2 jobs and raised my kids. Used to carry 195 throwing a red Brunswick Edge and a Columbia White Dot for spares. You young guys have revolutionized the game and made it interesting again, even for an old timer like me. My wife and I just joined a duo anytimers league. I bought a used Game Break to practice with and a new Purple Hammer to have some urethane in the bag. Looks like I’m gonna be around 175 until I can learn to make spares again and start hitting it hard enough to stop leaving the soft 10. Go get ‘em Darren! Looking for to May - League Season 2022
Your videos are phenomenal, and you demonstrate some of the best technique I’ve ever seen. This coupled with your knowledge and willingness to share and teach others is of such enormous value to so many. My sincerest thanks, as I try to play a sport I last did in 1998.
Outstanding!!! At 16 I was a ranked, 205 bowler in Canada. Then real life hit and due to health issues I could no longer compete. I was crushed. I loved the game where you played straight. It can be a winning strategy, but the release point must be spot on every time.
Suggestion for 4 or 5 weeks of challenges on League night. Week 1 - must stay throwing right of 2nd arrow Week 2 - try to stay between 2nd & 3rd arrow Week 3 - continue moving over 1 arrow left... you'll get the point
Congrats on the 50k subs DT. Been a major fan since I took up bowling seriously last year. I love the entertainment and learning value I get from watching ur vids.
absolutly amazing edits in this video, loved every second super chill vibes much love and great work my man. also your the one that got me into bowling getting my first ball in 5 days super excited
I swear your ball rep in this video was one of the guys I met at my local matchmaker when I bought my Zen Master and UC3. Guy is a total class act and super helpful.
I have totally gone to a straight ball during league once the lanes became burned up. Few things are more frustrating than your ball checking up early and not being able to adjust by moving the feet or the target.
The pocket was small but when you hit it real hard I was laughing with you at the way it obliterated the rack. Dangerous day to be a mechanic back there, minding his own business.
I was bowling a similar situation today... Couldn't get the ball to go right. Kept hitting Brooklyn strikes or leaving the 5 pin and a ton of splits.. A couple I converted and was very proud of... Kept moving left until a group of teens came in and got the two lanes to my left. They had NO bowling etiquette, so had to stop lofting the gutter.
Hyped for league night! Kinda inspiring me to even go out and try and join my local! Love the videos and really missed Jessie's added personality to the vids! Also seems to get some really awesome shots too! 🙏💯
I’m not a good bowler, but I enjoy my Friday night league! I definitely recommend joining a league! It’s so much fun! If you don’t have a team, just join a league or call and I’m sure a team will need someone!
@@jeanbean2277 planning on joining one starting in June! Can't wait to try it out. Been bowling regularly daily and mainly practicing technique and that alone has been a blast. Can't wait to finally get a really good form down and start actually making pins fall 💪😈
@@RufMixa247 yessirr I reccomend league a ton for new bowlers or people trying to get better in a tournament setting (in any other way except bowling tournaments) because it gets you used to a full crowd of bowlers around you. I bowl a junior league on Saturday mornings
Darren, I was in the time of wood to synthetic lanes. Talk about a change. Columbia 300 yellow dot. My first adult league I shot 696 and 694. But when the oil is not right.... I shot 118 on a Saturday after a kids league with no re oil.
Hey man try this… bring your target closer to you near the dots between arrows and foul line, it will change the angle just enough so the ball will get out a lil bit. When I do this it requires an acknowledgment of getting through the shot a lil quicker. 🤷🏻♂️ worth a shot.
hey it was definitely inspiring to watch you struggle but overcome it in the end :) i never thought of throwing the ball straight but nice one bro. Happy 50k Darren!
ok, im legit confused about where Darren is throwing the ball from. Hes almost in the other lane at 5:30 and he gets a strike but hes also hitting on the left side a lot. Why not move right, feet and arrow?
the back door strike was the best. thanks for letting us in all season DTang and Jessy. Much appreciation. the ball comment at the end seems fitting to the maximum amount of BS the USBC achieved this week. looking forward to some off season content!!!!
Ok not really into bowling. But gotta say the view of this beautiful man’s perfectly tailored pants each time he hurls that ball down the lane…. Worth watching 😂
WOW Darren Tang it was NO dought about that straight ball strike once its there all pins crash down all at once. I stand 2 boards from the 2nd to last dot on the left & focus on the board that's EYE focus on the 25th board dot at the foul line to release my ball just the other side of that 25th dot at the foul line to hit the pins on the left of head pin shot. hardy to no loft today is 4-6-22. the only reason to loft a ball is to take away hook. I throw a straight ball so NO loft is ever needed.
Do you professionals check to see who's in the lead? and compare their style to yours and adjust accordingly? Or is that just not practical? Justing asking.
A lot of the guys on the same staff will be told where each other are and how they're doing (scores, area of the lane, ball choice) and they will usually go from there. That's why at a lot of tournaments you'll see a bunch of the Storm guys throwing say a Nova or the Motiv guys all throwing the Blue Coral Venom
My first reactive ball ever was a pearl nomad… if that thing was 15lbs id still throw it, loved that thing and it was a great ball for somebody learning the game
Hey, what is the reason that people do not do straight bowling? What does curving the ball or rotation do? (I just think bowling is fun idk the terms or reasons behind actions)
The purpose of the hook is to give the ball a better angle at the 1-3 pocket (right-handers) or 1-2 pocket (left-handers.) to achieve a strike. When a ball is rolled straight, hitting the pocket must be precise. By hooking the ball, the ball will hit the pins with more force, producing better carry - especially on the 5-pin during a strike ball. Straight roll - even when it hits the pocket, will tend to leave a tap such as the 5-pin on a light hit, or the 10-pin if the ball was just slightly right of center pocket or with inadequate entry angle. A hook ball can achieve strikes with less precise hits. Straight from Wikipedia lol
I was wondering just yesterday if someone might try this. If you can avoid the splits and just need a 205 average, I think that actually would've worked.
In my sport league, sometimes by game 3 we all end up pretty lost. Plastic down the middle is surprisingly good at avoiding tough spares so long as you hit one of the pockets. Also back when the pattern was still 39-41ft my teammate would slow hook plastic from 20 to 10 and that’s surreal to watch haha
Please help me. I currently use a 12lb, polyester ball. I throw right handed, using only fingers, no thumb. I hold the ball on my arm, and during walking motion, swivel the ball almost behind my back, and upon release, it hangs in air for a second. I also have a very hard hook regardless of stock or weight because of my approach. I stand on the 38 board with my left foot, aiming to the 4-7 board on release. My release is appx 14-16 mph. And i avg 130-160 a game. Im looking for a new ball but am very new to bowling. I would like something that i can hit the pocket with because i currently am either just left of it, or hitting the 7 pin. Any suggestions? I really liked this video, the normal speed and editing slow speed kinda helped me not feel so odd on how i throw lol keep it up!
