I BROKE Pokemon Emerald for an INSANE Zigzagoon

Why on earth would I make a 30 minute video about a Zigzagoon? Surely there's something fishy going on here...
Combining the power of glitches, RNG manipulation, and genetic engineering I've created something truly special. Ruby/Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red/Leaf Green, and even the elusive Pokemon Box for the Nintendo GameCube play a role.
Thank you to all my friends and supporters for making this possible!

I am not even exaggerating when I say this, but this video is hands down the greatest RU-vid video I have ever watched. Not even just the best Pokemon video either. You said it perfectly at the end when you dubbed this a passion project. I honestly think its so cool that you dedicated time and effort to a goal that may seem silly to some, but for you it was the result of learning, practicing and perfecting a craft. I applaud you and the achievement in this video. I'm so happy the algorithm brought me to this video and I cant wait to see what other content you produce in the future. You have earned a subscriber and I wish you the best in your future endeavors. Cheers mate! Job well done!

Thank you sincerely for this lovely comment. If I had my way, everyone who's ever played a Pokemon game would get served this video and catch a glimpse of how deep the games really can go. I poured my heart into this, and wrestled with doubts of it ever really getting enough attention to be worth the effort. So every person like you who truly appreciates that effort makes me feel like it was worth it, and maybe it does have a chance of being my first truly huge success.

From a genetic engineering researcher who used to work with CRISPR and a gen 3 nostalgia lover, I can confidently say this was a phenomenal deep dive into a topic that mirrors gene splicing in a bizzaro world way - it’s not often that a video finds such a niche, indulgent spot to settle in my brain. Amazing work, this is the level of passion I wish everyone was able to have. Thanks for being so rad (and thanks to RU-vid for bringing me a fantastic recommendation for once in a blue moon).

I used to attempt to RNG on FRLG static legends using a hundreds of save files with all their TIDS and SIDs input into a BITXOR spread sheet to tell me what files had what spreads and what I could hatch shiny in for my emerald breeds (what I thought was only possible on and emulator too). Imagine being a powerful shiny unown in a cave that almost never gets visitors, when all of a sudden a kid comes bursting through, facing you before you have a chance to run. His pokemon comes out and beats you within an inch of your life, and your attack is rendered worthless; the child seems to be even cheering in ecstasy after your attack barely makes a scratch. He bags you before you get a chance to do anything, and you end up blacking out. You wake up in a box, full of copies of yourself and tiny, terrified electric mice. He pulls out a pokemon also on the brink of death, forcing a berry down its throat, causing its body to twist an contort into a form so horrifying your eyes refuse to comprehend it, and it lashes out with eldritch rage, destroying pokemon one by one around you, until it lands on you, and you feel nothing. Not just no pain, but no feeling from the ground, the air or even your own body. You flail around, until you burst from an eggshell. Looking at yourself in horror, a reflection that isn't you. The trainer hands you to a seemingly innocent old man, unaware of what has occurred. The trainer paces back and forth for a while, until he takes you back and tossing a coin to the old man. He pulls out another pokemon on the brink of death. You are helpless as you witness the exact same process, and helpless as the enraged being lashes at you. It's the same feeling of nothingness. This time, it takes longer as you lash out from inside, until finally you break free from the same shell as before. You look at your orange and beige coat, your two eyes, and four appendages. You try to scream out in a concerningly similar fashion from the beings you saw, but are silenced before you can do so, and are quickly fed strange sweets that make you feel stronger, yet cause you to feel slightly dizzy. Your memories are slipping away. What memories? You are a shiny unown. You're scared. Your trainer is happy. You're happy. You are a shiny zigzagoon. You're a perfect zigzagoon and you're happy. I mean would that be crazy or what?

From the thumbnail I thought it was a rom hack and you got a shiny galarian one, this is NOT what I was expecting. It was much better than that...

congrats on the zigzagoon! i've been getting back into rng myself the past few weeks (finally saw mirage island!!) and it's so cool to see how far we've come on glitzer popping since it was first discovered. hard to think about how much there's even left to learn about at this point!

The ending was the most wholesome thing ever. Pokemon really can bring people together. Even if it's only because we can't understand half the damn mechanics.

I can't be the only one weirded out by how much Pokémon games have going on under the hood, right?? Like even the old games have WAY more secret values and goings-on than even make sense, considering how much simpler they appeared *and also: *WOW* dude! Great video and awesome explanation for outsiders like myself.. I almost understand what is going on here!!!

The moment it was pointed out that the unkown would break the pid my immediate thought process was we need to find something thats pid corrupts to match our targets PID even if we have to use multiple stages of corruption to reach it
@sebay4654
@sebay4654 9 месяцев назад
Not responding doesn't mean not working it just means the CPU is struggling to both compute enough resources to update the window and calculate your targets due to the complex rng math your trying to do

"This method is totally, 100% legit and superior to any other way to get Pokemon that are impossible to get through normal gameplay (hacking)! It is NOT hacking! All I need is my carts, 2 gameboys, a program where I tell it the Pokemon I want and it scrambles the game's code to tell me exactly how to get it, 100 glitches where I scramble everything about a dozen other Pokemon... I am a GENIUS GOD cause I can put ~legit~ shinies in my game :D" a Pokemon isn't rare if you can just generate it... just be honest, it's cool to get into the game's guts like this, but why the weird pretentiousness....?
@PapaJefeYT
@PapaJefeYT Год назад
If this is how you feel, then no Pokemon is rare... because they can all be easily generated. The whole point was finding a way to get it, without just doing the obvious super easy thing and cheating it in. Pokemon only have value arity in-so-far as the effort put into acquiring them, and if you think what I've done here somehow disqualifies me from feeling pride or accomplishment, that's on you.

never have I ever played a pokimon game since platinum released, don't really plan to, never interacted with competitive pokimon battling, hell hardly interacted with glitches in pokimon since finding missingNo in pokimon red, yet this was one of the most enthralling experiences, bending over backwards mathmatic rng manpiulating gymasticis I've watched in a long time, congratz and impressive work, may that zig, goon a very good lfe. And you go even farther beyond

I’ve seen a lot on how different systems handle RNG because it’s hard to get actual randomness on computers, but I never knew RNG could be manipulated this far. It’s crazy what we’ve found out about some games.

I love you brother!! I’ve been getting into older games and have realized how damn awesome they truly are. So many glitches and amazing little coding things that it’s made me excited and hopeful for the future. Thanks to the Glitch City, I learned somethings about the games and this video has cemented me into playing more and learning the ins and outs as I’ve done with other games I’ve played. Thank you! You were a happy circumstance find that I’m so glad I found you!!

At 5:39 you can see that he uses a filter for his eyes, very strange. The two hypotheses I can think of are that either a) the filter holds eye contact with the camera more than he would naturally, which would help him read his script without seeming distracted, or b) he prefers showing brown eyes rather than his natural blue eye colour (brown eyes have been shown to be perceived as more trustworthy). What do you think?
@PapaJefeYT

It's the former. Nvidia broadcast added an eye contact feature, and I wanted to give it a try. I like my blue eyes... 🥹

I, maybe, at maximum, understood 10% of what happened, but I love when a project builds itsself up and works in the end. I was already getting mad when i tried to reset my crystal edition frame perfect to get celebi (with the bad clone glitch) and oh boy i might be the worst in doing something in a a specific frame. But i absolutely love seeing when someone else is successful. Ill have a look at your other vidoes, too. Nice content ❤

Seems like you do a lot of this, so I hope this makes your life easier. The EXP at 23:00 does NOT have to be odd. You can take one extra odd step by using fly, teleport, or any other way or taking an arbitrary number of steps. You could fly to a Pokémon. Enter nearby (if it’s close enough) and then take one step, fly again, and then you’d be onto the odd or even you need. An escape rope would work too if there’s a cave nearby. Maybe teleport works with the daycare? I haven’t played gen 3 in so long though, not sure if any Pokémon centers or caves are close enough to the daycare for most of these tricks. Just thought I’d point out you can flip to odd or even using fly or teleport or esc rope ☺️

Between you and Blissy, I've gotten REALLY into the RNG side of Pokémon lately. I dug around at my stepdad's for hours looking for my copy of Emerald so I could practice manips and mess with glitzer popping and such. Your videos only get better and better every time, keep it up!! Part of what makes a good teacher is being able to take complex concepts like this and making it so that people not only take it in but also want more. Thanks for the new Pokémon-related hobby (it's a hell of a flex even though im no good at it yet).
