Hey everyone and welcome back to Zeepkist! Today we are back with a new update to Zeepkist which adds flight controls! This update allows us to more accurately control pitch when we are floating through midair which allows us to make crazy tracks like this death star trench run!

Yannic needs to get Kan to cosmetic this map up a bit, add those cannons Kan mentioned firing green neon tubes (lasers) and add it to the main adventure mode. He could make a X shaped plane car as a reward.

That talk near the end about space battle physics is why I've always loved The Expanse. All the ships operate under real world physics. Space battles are carried out in 3 stages, long range torpedo bombardment, mid range railgun engagement, short range PDC exchanges. But the smaller ships especially are constantly switching their engines on and off as the use reaction control thrusters to flip around and change course. It's actually a really enjoyable form of space combat.

That first person view is much harder to control but the view is wonderful, reminds me of the old x-wing arcade games. Loved this map.

Regarding Kosmo's comment at 11:12, I have indeed played one on keyboard and the layout would be correct for that, but not on controller where brake (B) makes you go up and hands UP (A / RB for me) makes you go down ;) Enjoyed the flying tho after getting slightly used to the inputs ^^

I'd love to see some Ace Combat inspired flying tracks in the future. Maybe fly through Megalith or do the AC2/AHL/3DCR canyon or fly through the Chandelier.

For a flying track should make a city scape with helicopter checkpoints so people get that ace pilot racing feel. You could have easy flight paths to the checkpoints as well as incredibly tight difficult routes for optimizing time.

That's cool that both ideas in my comment on the first scaled omnibooster video were used. I said Kan should make a plane race track and a space trench run. It doesn't look like he saw it, so we both thought the same thing. Now we need a track where you loose all your wheels and fly around super fast.

I love me some Star Wars, I like the idea of trench run. It's the mechanics and handling that make flying in Zeepkist practically impossible for me. And I'm fully aware that I spent the stream relentlessly shitting on your creation kAN. But that's just the evidence of massive skill issue on my end more than anything else xD Great job. Keep it up

Kan I’m not sure if you’ve seen it before but I think you’d like Star Citizen dogfighting, the space flight in that game is really quite incredible and it makes for some really intense pvp.

kAN Gaming, you should have a look at Babylon 5. They can't make hard turns, they drift out, but they make a cool maneuver to shoot at someone following them (at least the earth fighters) they turn around the whole fighter and fly backwards while shooting the enemy that was behind them. ;)

On the topic of space battles I agree with you kan that the ships woulpd be drifty but with hyperspace tech like in starwars i feel like theoretically sharp turns in space should be possible imo

If technology (like artificial gravity or what have you) allows for sharp turns, then it would allow you to do those sharp turns in any orientation, though. Drifting on your nose, going backwards, ... You could argue that installing artificial gravity generators for every direction would increase the cost too much, but a single direction would still allow you to fly backwards, for example.

Idea from Dappers map, the tilt roads horizontal so you can drive over them but the trasher thing so if they tilt too far the road is deleted from under you

I know that typically with tracks its either full flying or not, but have you ever considered a track where you can drive into a tunnel, and start flying within the tunnel to avoid obstacles, before landing at the end of the tunnel? Could also add a section that's a loop of check points, with you able to drop onto a track higher than where you initially started flying. Basically, if you're familiar with Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, it's that kinda stuff

Third person may be easier to fly with, but first person looks so much better. Only seeing the front it looks like a pod racer from Episode 1 or speeder from Episode 2 Star Wars.

The drifting and constant course corrections is how space combat would work with current technology... who's to say something won't be developed that bends or breaks physics as we currently know it?

I know Yannic won't see this, but now that flying is a thing, a whole new range of track types are possible, so for air type tracks, it'd be cool to customise our cars into planes and space ships. Imagine doing this in an X-Wing 😜

Kan was right though, the reason why aircraft can maneuver is air, without air it's all just conservation of momentum.

Wow more air races! :O I tried that setup omnibooster+slowster and huh it's hard. Definitely you can orient your zeepkist intentionally but -to me- it's so rng that i couldn't design a consistent track. I couldn't consistently achieve the same result so...no track's been done. I'm disappointed by myself. :/

Make the slowster have 10 power at whatever speed you want, set the booster to only 1-3 at the same speed. I find that gives the best results, less power on the booster is more drift, more power generates less drift.

make a massive 3d labyrinth where they have to find all 15 checkpoints then return to the start. every wall is neon white somewhere betwene 30 seconds, and 2 muinites from start per checkpoint and eachother

what I don't like is that it's a omni+ a slowster, because I was thinking of trying to make an engine track with that, now I can't. I think flight mode should actually be another gate type.

just from the video alone the controls seem counter intuitive. I'd imagine *arms up* which pushes you UP everywhere, would/should be the thing to make you go up. instead of going down. same as that i'd imagine braking you to slow down/drop. so why is that what sends you going up?!

Space ships having a max speed is one of my annoyances in space games. Like in Elite: Dangerous. Why does the ship slow down again after boost, why are we wasting fuel firing retrothrusters returning to a set speed...
