You asked whats the rarest fish and you actually found one of the flat out rarest creatures with the liopleurodon, the sparkly sharp tooth fish. You tame them with honey and they give you a buff to ocean loot drops

@@succeggs Its so exceedingly rare that many advocate for its straigh up removal from the game, since you have to search the entire ocean for a CHANCE of one, you need honey which spoils mad quick, and the buff lasts for 6 hours, while the tame last 30 MINUTES. it kinda vanishes after that time.

Welyn, While riding the mosa do NOT get too close to the world borders. There's a terrible glitch that wildcard hasn't fixed yet and if you get too close to the borders you could hit a kill trigger wall, All of your current items in your inventory basically get deleted and you lose everything.

Watching this... You wonder how many hours will pass until Welyn figures out he can whistle commands for his dino's. Such as passive and follow. Or when he realizes that the swamp and redwood forest are generally bad places to fly through. Or how many hours it took him in Rust to understand inventory management. He is having fun though, so i guess it's fine. Even if at times i /facepalm at the video...

I went to Norway for 9 months and studied the Vikings. They were a whole society, even though not all of them were raiders. Also they would attack villages rather than ships. So they’re very loosely pirates, in that they are seafaring raiders. But classic pirates are more like roving gangsters than a somewhat sophisticated society who would occasionally raid. So it’s more of a Venn Diagram. Both are cool though :) Also, “Vik” means a shallow bay, like the ones the viking ships would easily sail into (unlike other seafaring ships of the era), so “Viking” originally was a verb, as in “to go a-viking”.

I love that you're still making ark stuff. Even if it's been a little awhile. Can't wait for more. Tip: If you ever have any issues with crashes and roll backs. It's helpful to learn the console command to force save, so rollbacks aren't a huge blow to morale.

vikings mostly plundered on land, they used boats mostly for traversal, and didn't really fight at sea I'm not sure if they count as pirates, but there were definitely also vikings who never set foot on a boat and only raided other settlements in scandinavia, so not all vikings are pirates

I have tried platform saddles on stuff before, but I really hate how anything attacking the thing will destroy the stuff on the platform in no time, the sheer THOUSANDS of resources I've lost because things broke my containers and whatnot on Quetzals and others is ridiculous! But if you want an unbelievably good mount for the water exploration, forget Megalodon, go Basilosaurus, it's hands down the ultimate one to use for exploring and fighting in water! Easy to tame once you get rid of the Mantas that follow it and once tamed, riding it gives you infinite oxygen without needing mask, cold immunity without needing diving suit, shock immunity (so eels and jellyfish can't touch you), grab immunity, has tons of health and carry capacity, while also generating free oil passively just by being tamed, it's insane how good it is!

Just some quality of life tips: mejoberries are the most effective berry for taming most herbivores, while vegetables are a bit better, raw prime meat is also better for taming carnivores, it keeps the taming effectiveness high and makes the tame faster, also apps like dododex can help you figure out what you need for a tame (like the exact number of tranqs, food/kibble, etc. for any level of tame)

If you have 300 oxygen and lazarus chowder, you don't need scuba gear. You'll easily get 5 minutes of oxygen, and you can outswim anything in the ocean with swim fins. On another note, you should really start breeding fliers so you don't have to keep retraining them :D

quick tips for the ocean get sarcos u can get them pretty early on without scuba and they are faster and stronger than megs, next is eels alone are nothing too dangerous u just have to kill them very quickly before they slow u down and let jelly fish catch up with u, NEVER approach jellyfish they can knock u off most water mounts only engage them with a basil or mosa edit: always bring 2 to 3 tanks and fins

I actually don't know why I'm here. On the one hand, I love Welyn's Ark videos, but on the other, I legitimately have thalassophobia and HOLY FUCK does Ark trigger the hell out of me. I'm good 99% of the time, but the minute I'm swimming, I immediately remember that I would rather be doing almost anything else that doesn't include swimming in the open ocean in real life. Tried it once, been fucking terrified of the ocean ever since. We left the Primordial Soup for a reason, I'm never going back.
